I really don't care that much about what kind of villain we have in DAI, as long as it doesn't have a "Reaper" attitude. But I'd be fine if they were as ruthless as the Reapers.

Every conversation you have with a Reaper involves you receiving insults for being organic.
"Your existence is a result of an accident. A mere mutation. We are infinitely greater than all organic life. We drive fancy cars and date sexier women. Organics are ignorant and understand nothing. Reapers rule. Reapers are number one. Organics suck big time. Go Harbinger." That is basically all your reaper conversations combined. And what's worse is you can't call them out on their bs because there's no option for it.

Please no villains like that.

i've just read that in Sovereign's voice

anyway... on topic, i don't think Venatori would care about mages plight or ending conflicts in general. and since when synthesis (yay Helios) ending is evil?

there was a bit about 'everyone will be just as they were' or something... maybe it's some kind of reference to elves and their immortality?

I still think the main villain is an ancient elf recently awoken from Uthenera, one who seeks either vengeance or a return of Arlathan by decimating the human kingdoms.

The Venatori are probably some Tevinter sect dedicated to stopping him and such elves, we'll probably help this ancient puppet master unknowingly by fighting them. Felassan and Solas are probably also ancient elves.

I believe that the main "villain" is connected to the Venatori. He is a misunderstood antagonist, who's goal is to end the mage/non-mage conflict permanently by turning every mundane being on Thedas into Mages.

This is because magic cannot be taken away without causing tranquility, and new mages will be born. He will do this by getting rid of the veil, so he can expose every mundane, none-magical being in Thedas to magic. Making the "change" that we have been hearing about from Sandal, and other characters like Morrigan, and Flemeth, possible.

So the villain of DA:I is Magneto from the first X-Men movie?

I think from the dialogue of the Inquisitor the event and those who created it are the enemies and someone needs to die for it to cease. I don't think that we will have the option to choose if we want to make everyone mage or not.

This sounds to me more like a DMC5 scenario where Dante breaks the illusion and introduces the world to the demons cause till now only a select few could see their true form. Mages are like that, people that can see into another realm where the inhabitants are hostile to the mortal world. I think a mage created the rift to make Thedas and the Fade one so everyone will be exposed to these beings and see the world as it truly is, with the added benefit that mages will have a more prominent role in the new world. After all I think a true pro mage doesn't really see any point to distinct the fade from the real world since he pretty much exists on both.

It's more or less a classic "create a problem, become the solution" strategy.

With mages having made veil weak in multiple places. Kirkwall, wardens keep, etc it makes sense for it to be some kind of powerful mage. I simply hope, as another said it is not one dimension. If you decide to use a more military approach versus a diplomatic one I would like to see it adapt.

This theory is a bit outdated now, but I'd like to introduce a variation.

The ancient elf's body may have died in Uthenera, but he may be an incredibly powerful Dreamer who's spirit has persisted in the Fade and he's tearing open the veil in an attempt to return and reestablish Arlathan.
