I don't see any advantage to leaving it as dependent. The only disadvantage to having to redistribute your installers which you're going to do anyway.

I'm going to leave both of mine as is since they're not marked until after the last chapter save and there is no manual save capability after that. The only thing they affect is auto saves and if people are advanced enough to be keeping their auto saves, they can Gibbed.  :P

I noticed in my tests that once a DLC is installed the game seems to write it to the save no matter what.

So, even though I had a save from the intro I loaded up and then did a quick save, it tagged all the DLCs I had installed, including JAM, JAM to CEM Full, and CEM Full. When trying to load the quick save it couldn't do it until I put the DLC back.

On the plus side, I learned that the game only cares about the folder name so I can remove my v1.0 installers and replace them and it really won't matter.

Deager, she did NOT get the cab scene for the lite version. It froze on her as she hit ESC to exit the credits.

Hmmm, thanks for confirming. I wonder what that would be since it's calling BioP_CitHub for that one. Unless the game knows that if the Silversun Strip isn't an option anymore that it freaks out. For example, BioP_CitApt works great with the full version but crashes out anyone who's already finished the main Citadel DLC mission.

Well, at least it says "BETA."

Lol, yes. And I'm sure we'll hear about it if there's a problem!

To confirm, I took a clean save. Had only JAM installed (none of my stuff,) did a quick save, deleted JAM, and that quick save now can't load. So, it actually does seem to affect even JAM and any DLC no matter its place in the game.

Tell me about it. Because even my JAM to CEM and MEHEM to CEM files now need to be updated. Nothing like a classy release to only say "Uh, hey! Yeah, don't mind me. v1.1 instead for some reason." I think I'll not advertise the change and just quietly upload. Now if only I could upload a new version on Nexus like you can on MODDB.

EDIT: And done. That wasn't too painful. Now I'll wait for the problem 8 weeks from now when someone can't load a save after not liking the mod or something. :D

@Deager -- I had remembered we started to discuss some of this stuff here, so I'll post what I hope to be my final questions here rather than starting a new thread.

Ok, so it's only the 720/730memorial files that are any concern. TM doesn't edit that bik or the 610epiloguered_LOC_INT and JAM is already compatible.

One thing I need to make sure I understand is what patch to use in which instance in case I get any questions from users about this (and to test properly).

I think I'm confused about 2:

1. ThaneMOD v1.0D/E + MEHEM + CEM base >> TM-MEHEM to CEM patch

2. ThaneMOD v1.0B/C + JAM + CEM base >> JAM to CEM patch

3. ThaneMOD v1.0B/C + CEM base >> ??

4. ThaneMOD v1.0A + CEM base >> ??

TMv1.0A contains what we call the "standard" version of the ending for the EC. It contains only the smallest modifications retaining as much vanilla content as possible (MS is vanilla). It does not contain either 720/730Memorial file. If a player uses CEM with this version of ThaneMOD, which patch do they use, if any? Sidenote: I also have no idea if JAM would work with this version of TM, so I'm leaving that combination out. My recommendation is that JAM users need to use TMv1.0B/C.

TMv1.0B/C are made for the EC. They use the same set of epilogue files, and 720/730 are included. These are different files than are used in the MEHEM version. Just to be clear, Additional LIs is not included, since it is made for MEHEM and not EC. However, what it does include are modifications that place Thane in the MS, just when he's the LI. There are also lots of other modifications.

TMv1.0D/E are made for MEHEM. They use the same set of epilogue files, and 720/730 are included. These are different files than are used in the EC version. A special version of Additional LIs *IS* included, as well. This version places Miranda, Jack, AND Thane into the MS when they are the LI. And of course there are also lots of other modifications.

Alright. So, Deager, do we need any new patches for things to work? Can you clarify for me what happens in cases 3 and 4 above?

Thanks much:)

Question for you. If someone is not using MEHEM or JAM then I'm guessing EDI dies and Javik (if that DLC is installed) is standing at the memorial wall? If that's the case, then no need for something for 3 and 4 because then CEM makes no sense really without other ending modifications. This is why I've never released a version to go from vanilla EC or original ending to CEM.

If I'm wrong on that though, let me know.

That would be correct, Deager. Those two bottom ones are standard EC, just with the ThaneMOD changes, and we don't alter the plot outcome for any characters other than Thane.

Ok, so if CEM is meant to be used only with MEHEM and JAM, then it looks like we're good as far as the patches go. Alright. I'll be using 3400 and testing that out today. Possibly after I mess with TankMaster's new Coalesced Editor. Maybe.

Thanks, Deager and sorry for the 20 questions :/

Not a problem. Given all the parts we have for our own mods, it starts getting fun when we try to get them all working together.

"Fun" is not the word I would use! Though, I'm always a little bit grumpy before my second cup of coffee.

Which is about to be remedied!

Hey Deager, I just completed a trilogy playthrough using your latest (Lite) version, and I must say, you've come a long way!  The experience was nearly transparent, and I enjoyed your reworked ending song.  And they way you guys have figured out how to make the mods as DLC is amazing.  Kudos all around!

Thanks Wavion. Big thanks go out to JohnP for taking the time to figure out how to do that transition for me and the DLC method of installation. Glad you liked the song.

It was a battle making that mod but man, I'll admit, I have a lot of satisfaction with it. Glad the reviewers pushed me.

EDIT: Seriously!!! I wrote that message as I was testing the Lite version of the mod. I didn't like having people go through all that crap with the Citadel and then rapid transit. I could have sworn that BioP_CitHot didn't work before. But it just freak'n did!

Anybody want to test on their system for me? Simply place this folder in your DLC folders and get rid of the lite version you used. I can't believe I missed that. Argh. Selfishly, I never use the Lite version though and only about 10% of people do it looks like.

Deager, I use the Lite MEHEM version, but I can't test it tonight.  I would have to redo the attack on Cerberus HQ onward in order to get to the ending/credits.  What specifically are you trying to test? That it goes from the credits straight to the party? Or what?

It takes people from the credits to the strip, bypassing the whole "do you need ground transportation" bit and then purgatory, and then rapid transit.

If you have to do Cerberus...don't worry about it. I'll see if anyone else, actually, I'll put on a post on the CEM thread and explain it's for testing.

I tested it with both MEHEM and JAM and it worked for me. No rush from me. It's not like what's out there now doesn't work. I just figure I should have another person test it.

Appearing on the Strip would be ideal.  Even if you figured out how to start the party directly, I wouldn't, because people need to be able to update their invitations/guest list and specify whether they want a relaxed or energetic party.

I'll try to test it on Sunday.  I'll drop the difficulty and do a speed run through Cerberus HQ and Earth.

Also, I'm surprised there aren't more people taking the Lite version (10%).  Maybe they just download the default option?

I like to do the Clone mission soon as it becomes available and then check back at the apartment each time I complete a mission.  The game is so dark, I like to have a few moments of levity to break things up.  Also, playing the clone mission after the massive interspecies space battle and destruction of the reapers seems a bit anticlimactic.  So, after the ending, I just prefer to have the party - a nice little epilogue to show life goes on and that the fight was worth it.

Also#2, is it possible to have a new e-mail show up after you drop them on the Strip?  I think it would be cool to have something from Hackett/Alliance Command addressed to Admiral Shepard.  I think he's past due for a promotion. :)

Cool. If you have time. Wait and see if anyone posts back on the public CEM thread; just in case. I think just one other person is enough. I don't see any issue with this. Man, not sure why I missed BioP_CitHot but oh well. I'll get it fixed now. Yet another reason I kept the main mod and the transition mods separate.

It is interesting about party vs full. I thought the entire tone of the Citadel DLC was too playful to make sense during the game. But, I remember you, Fob, and I think some other people involved during development wanted just the party or, in Fob's case, meetups and the party, at the end. But yeah, throughout the versions, it's been about 10 to 1 in favor of the full version.

It would be possible for a new email I think, but I had some bizarre things when I started working on getting an email in there regarding Kelly Chambers. Had some odd issues with docking at the Citadel way earlier in the game. Once I saw that I wasn't willing to risk it.

Yeah, shore leave while Earth is under attack is kind of silly.  But, then again, not really all that more so than the regular trips to the Citadel pre-DLC.  In my head-canon, I try to think of the Citadel DLC plot as mandatory down-time due to needed ship repairs, not just "Hey, how about a vacation!"

Well, if you did have a moment to test that'd be great. Not surprisingly no takers as, well, the forum is fairly dead.

Not sure who's around but does this work ok for MEHEM, JAM, or ThaneMOD to CEM Lite?
