Throughout all Mass Effect and Dragon age, whenever Genocide was on the table I took it. Despite the cost I always saw the end justifying the means. For a while I felt pain for what I've done but if it means for a better future then it was worth it. After looking back at myself I realized Saren was justified and possibly a hero in others eyes. I also realized that I may have a fetish for genocide. I actually enjoy it in these games. What do you guys think? Who did you see as a hero in Mass Effect? And did you choose genocide or an alternative? If so how did you feel and why?

Is your post supposed to be a satire of when people say this? =/

You make admiral Anderson drink.
Please think of all the war heroes! Don't turn them into alcoholics!

Well I certainly Don't see Saren as a hero in ME. In his defence he was indoctrianted in ME1 but he was murderous even before he was indoctrinated (also a little racist). And as for the genocide thing...you always took that choice? I mean if the alternative is even worse then of course but in ME I cant really think of a situation like that. If you spare the rachni both times you save a species and they end up helping the galaxy; saving both the geth and quarians saves billions of lives and they also both help the galaxy and if you cure the genophage the krogan end up rebuilding their lost glory (providing Wrex and Eve were still alive, if both of them were dead I could understand not curing it).
So to answer the question in the title: peace, always.

Ah, this phrase brings me back to the heyday of Geth/Quarian debates, Auld Wolf, and accusations of everyone supporting the Quarians having a fetish for genocide.
Good times...

I made peace between the geth and the quarians because I like them both. I exterminated the rachni because of their history and because they were indoctrinated. I cured the genophage with regret also thinking wrex would lead the Krogan to war given their past. Any other genocide or decisions between killing everyone or letting them go I decided to kill them. Like I said the end always justified the means.

So long as you refrain from deluding yourself into believing that such a thing is defensible in reality, you can enjoy genocide all you like in a video game.

Let's hear how it's not defensible from a moral or ethical perspective. Hell, I can make many defenses for it on a historical level and legal level.
That said, it depends on the circumstances. I have no problem with either if it gets me what I want.

Bob, you just made me realize that I could be taking things too far. wow. Maybe I should take a break or quit games. I mean I never enjoyed killing in video games until I started doing it. Is there something wrong with me? -Satire ![]()

If you enjoy it that much, then you might have a problem with other people. My advice is to formulate a logically sound argument in defense of it. It's actually not as difficult as it might seem.

I hear claiming killing people as a part of your religion goes a long way...

Depending on what rules you follow, it's not inherently wrong. Do you believe in some kind of universal standard for actions? Some (not myself personally) can and will argue that there is no inherent moral definition of right and wrong, and, ability to commit such actions in hand, would technically be doing no wrong by committing genocide.

@MassivelyEffective 0730 It all started when I was in preschool to about fourth grade. I was always picked on, threatened, cursed, isolated by everyone. At school, programs, rotc, camps, everything. I was always seen as the odd one. As I was growing up people gave me looks and stares and spread rumors about me. Until I started dating, sex, then dumped an got dumped then the rumors and or assumptions started back up again. I know there is a saying like "...don't let your past dictate your future.." or something like that. I try to act nice an not an ******* to people but my patience over the years with others is at a bear minimal. Hence the reason why Im not out talking to others versus being on a nerd forum about a sci-fi game that the only reason I got into it was because of gamerpoops videos becoming popular during the summer of 2012 and the indoctrination theory seemed legit an interesting.

Ah, see, you have a Freudian excuse. Yeah, you're societies ragdoll and cosmic plaything. I can see how it would make you rather openly dismissive and antagonistic to people.

Well, sure. Everything is relative. The ends can justify the means. But what ends come from genocide, other than genocide?

How can I change? Right now Im always to myself. I know looking for advice here is stupid but I'm looking for answers. I'm looking for someone to show me the beauty in the world or reveal to me what im missing out on in life. I have all these negative thoughts and Im not enjoying life. Im halfway done with college and im not even stooped about it. Hell Im not a gamer or really into games. I wanna live. Show me the error of my ways an lend me a hand to the light. Heaven I need a hug, is there any body out there willin to embrace a possible psychotic sociopath?
