I'm truly surprised - seeing as the graphical quality isn't to your usual "standard". Anyway, my favourite was Metal Gear Solid 2... but that was a mess in relation to the story, which was still interesting.
Hopefully you enjoy most of the games.

Well the other games are much lighter in tone than ground zeros/5. What with men made of bees, cyborg ninjas, vampires and a talking robot dog in the spin off. It's nonsense but it's fun nonsense. What I suggest you do is play all the games in the legacy collection and then watch the cutscenes of the other ones on youtube.
It's grounded in its own logic which is what matters most -- The argument of its sillyness can be applied to almost any game, like The Witcher having a talking Ghoul, Dragon Age having talking Darkspawn, Mass Effect involving people who can shoot psychic blue beams out of their hands using their mind etc. There are only 2 characters who are actual cyborg ninjas, and they are far from invulnerable, and the Vampire character isn't really a Vampire per-se. It has some glaring issues with the lack of exposition of the occasional supernatural elements for sure though. It doesn't stop the games from being downright intriguing story-wise, and for delivering some thought provoking philosophical discussion. At least it has the occasional balls to make fun of its own antics too, not talking about Rising though.
Good luck to the OP and hopefully you'll enjoy them.

I really have a feeling that I will indeed enjoy the series.
Revengeance isn't really important to the the plot. It's more about Raiden's character arc and over the top action.

Well, I would be happy if each MGS game would have PS4 graphical quality standards, but I'm afraid it's impossible (unless devs would decide to re-make the entire series).
Let's say I regret that I ignored the games as they were released, and now decided to fix my mistake. I need to experience this story no matter the series is currenty outdated in terms of graphical quality.
If you have a Wii or a Gamecube, you could try to fetch the remake of Metal Gear Solid called Twin Snakes - It has received some criticism for a rather jarring over-the-top scene, which is rather out of place, and also forswitching out the iconic track "The Best is Yet to Come". Personally I'd like to own it regardless because it has MGS2's gameplay mechanics and the tranquilizer gun, which is nice to have, and you'll end up loving that little gun as you play the games. Regardless, because Silicon Knights have since shut down (guys who made the remake alongside Kojima) -- it has since become a rare game and thus its value has increased significantly. It is, however, a game that has aged quite okay, visually-speaking, in comparison to MGS1's character models , which looked like they were made out of folded crepe paper. I don't think it'll be a big issue though.Well, I would be happy if each MGS game would have PS4 graphical quality standards, but I'm afraid it's impossible (unless devs would decide to re-make the entire series).

So is Ground Zeroes worth the price tag? I have really been wanting to play it however I am not sure I want to contribute to the constant milking of the consumer base for every second of content.

HELL NO. I chose watching on youtube over paying the ridiculous £20 for 1 and a half hours.

Every stealth game nowadays seems to have a non stealth option. Even if it goes completely against what the games about.

For me it was worth paying. And I didn't even try to complete subsequent missions that became unlocked after the mission about Paz and Chico. I'll return to the rest of the GZ missions after I'll complete previous (chronologically) games, but before starting Phantom Pain and subsequent (chronologically) games.

Don't know about the rest of GZ missions, but the mission about Paz and Chico was designed to be completed by stealth perfectly. The map was large and non-linear. There were a lot of enemies and ways to kill them all. But I didn't kill anyone. Spent some non-lethal ammo, backstabbed several enemies to interrogate them and disable afterwards. Used lethal ammo only against video cameras. Saved all prisoners, not just Paz and Chico... It was quite a run to bring them all to the helicopter.

GZ is definitely not worth the current price, wait till a price drop if you want to get it
I would've preferred if it stayed as the in-game prologue like the other MGS games (MGS2, MGS3)

Hmm... I thought maybe the Phantom Pain will cost less for the GZ owners? Sounds logical ![]()

It's possible that the price of Phantom Pain would've went up, but that would make Konami look even more bad than they are now

It was designed for both playstyles, Stealth and Action. The whole purpose of GZ is the display this

Well, at least Phantom Pain will not be one-console-exclusive, so it's possible it will not have price of the most expensive console games.
...But honestly, I feel like I'll buy the game even if it will cost 120$ ![]()
The only thing I don't like about this right now is that I have to wait... First for the Legacy Collection delivery, then for the Phantom Pain. Any news on release date, by the way?

...Almost forgot to ask. Legacy Collection also has two MGS comics. Are these comics considered as part of canon story?
