Bryce tells pup to watch the castle, pup replies "I'll do my best" and Bryce says 'you know what they say about mice while the cat is away."

I instantly thought of Howe as the mouse and Cailan being at Ostagar as the cat....

Some more intense foreshadowing from Bryce: "Don't worry son, you'll get to see a sword up close real soon, I promise"

I felt so terrible for laughing

I just discovered that I can invite Derrin back to my room and chat with Iona, the elf in waiting. She said the couslands treat the elves really well. Poor Derrin was in my room with me and got killed for checking to see what the noise was. He seemed nice enough. Poor chap, dead on the floor naked. I never knew I could track them down. I usually don't run through every area of this castle but this time I did the whole thing before the attack and during it. Some nice little discoveries too...

yeah I felt so bad for Dairren, died trying to be protective, but at least he died somewhat happy. lol I like flustering the poor boy with talk of the art of passionate love, by brother Capria...he's so sweet when flustered ;)

Apparently, though I haven't seen it myself, when you get to the alienage Iona's daughter can be seen sitting crying for her mother.

I'll pass on that... unless I could sleep with him them casually mention it to Alistair. That would have been a freaking awesome conversation....

"Have you ever licked a lampost?"

"Why yes, I have. It's name was Duncan, and it was just before I met you, the night my family was slaughtered."

Where is she? I didn't even know she was there. The bit with Dairren was an interesting discovery. I always wondered where he went off to. I've gone through the castle before but I must have missed that room. I think Ser Gilmore was with me and we ended up teaching the squires so I must have missed it.

I liked how I learned that Bryce and Couslands are good to elves as there was some debate about that in the forum. I always tell Nan she should be put down. How she treats them is terrible....

I flustered him too. Once I saw he was in the room, I thought 'Oh my, do I get to have some fun now?' Frankly, of all the starts, that one at least has a bit of fun hidden in it. I've never found anything even remotely that interesting in the others. Now... if only there were some flirtations for a female cousland with Ser Gilmore, because frankly, I was shocked there weren't. I could totally see him having a crush on her while he squired there. That would have been priceless. Apparently it's something others thought of as there's that ser gilmore mod. I was curious about it but the voice acting is a bit blah for me so I've never done it (from youtube clips I've seen). Ser Gilmore is voiced really well in the game.

Bugs me every time I play human noble. I can't help her at all. I can't even give her a penny. Probably cut content.

Not sure where she is but wiki just says she can be found in the alienage during the unrest in the alienage quest http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Iona

She probably only appears if you are the human noble.

Yeah, I used to run through all the origins and never really pay attention to anything going on. Until I thought I might find some extra quests or something and went looking. If you go to the treasury you can actually talk with the guards there, and mother Mallol in the chapel. Brother Aldous is a bit of a ... lol I usually wind him up.

Yeah I like that they are nice to the elves...but then I love how in general they are not stuffy and snobish at all and they seemed to have brought Fergus and Elissa (or the guy, sorry don't know his name) up to be quite down to earth and give them the freedom that most noble children dont have. Like who to chose for a partner that sort of thing. Makes it so much harder to say goodbye to them at the end :(

I honestly don't think I would want to see her, it would break my heart.

I would have loved to have flirted with Gilmore too, it would have fit nicely.

I have used the ser Gilmore mod, its not so bad. The voice does seem a little forced but its not so bad, the one in awakening though is much better. And there really is a lot of interaction with him. But I don't use it  as much though as he is just another warrior that is a bit redundant as I always have Alistair.

It just occurred to me that I could totally see him taking you up on the offer except you are the daughter of a noble and he's playing it very safe with them so not to get them banned again from ferelden. But his character strikes me as one that would absolutely bang any and all female wardens whatever chance he had.

In his younger days absolutely, but I think not so much by the time origins starts. He says to a mage warden that he is pretty much consumed with warden stuff, I think that would be one of the things he gave up long ago.

Yeah, I think in his old age he wouldn't. I've used the word "Grim" to describe him. Same with other Wardens. All "stodgy priests", as Cailan would say.

"Old age"? Duncan is what... 40-ish? 45, tops and that's probably 5 years too old... and even that's not "old age". (How old is he in The Calling?)

He's close to doing his Calling. It's old for him. And he's done nothing but stay vigilant against darkspawn all this time. It's a miserable and serious lifestyle. I'm sure the bright eyed vibrancy of youth fizzled out long ago.

Same goes for any other group. Like the Legion. They already know it sucks, so just consider themselves dead already when they sign up.

He's probably 50 at most. He might be consumed with his grey warden duties, but I don't think that makes him a monk by default. And for the record, men in their 70s can still be very sexually active. You should see what goes on in some of those retirement communities.....

I'm not saying he doesn't have a sex drive or is literally a monk.

I just mean he's grim, vigilant, and serious. They're all the same. Stroud, Duncan, Riordan... all clones. Nathaniel is on his way of becoming that too. So is Bethany, sadly.

I think he was about 18 or 19 in the calling, so he would probably be 40ish. Not old at all....

That doesn't mean they are beyond that. They might not think about it or go looking for it, but in the right circumstance, if it came their way, odds are they would take it. The middle of a blight however is not the right circumstance. ;)

... and now we are discussing duncan's sex drive.... I seem to be quite good at steering these threads into some strange places....

If he's 40, then his life is worse than I thought.

I think you're just hoping for the best for your own character. Think you and Alistair will have a happy life as Wardens and all that, right?

No, you're all going to morph into wrinkled, miserable bastards. Mark my words. ;)

Maric guesses Duncan's age to be about eighteen in 'the calling' which would make him 40-ish during the time of Origins. The Duncan in 'the calling' and the Duncan in DAO are like day and night though. How could one change so much? I wonder what would Alistair become in his final Grey Warden days!
