Or anything that flies, basically. I'd love to see the gorgeous landscapes from the air. If I could turn into a flying creature outside of combat and just cruise around, I'd do that for hours.
Something cool, though. I don't want to be a beetle or something.

Probably something like a mouse so I can sneak from room to room scooping the place out and plan my attack a bit better or to be able to loot unguarded rooms before I attack enemies. Got to get that loot before I give baddies the boot.

What kind of shapeshifting can one expect out of Knight Enchanter, Rift Mage and Necromancer? Harvester and demons, I suppose. That's about it. Unlikely all around.

I don't really care what I change into. Animals that represent classes mainly (Bear Warriors, something nimble like a wolf, etc). I just want it to operate more quickly.. like shapeshifting is in the Fade quests. Or how Druids worked in WoW.

I would want the ability to shapechange into diminutive creatures in which the purpose of the form would be purely for stealth reasons. Example: mouse, raven, etc. This ability would allow you to scout an area similar to a rogue without being noticed, much like the way Morrigan recounted her first encounters with other human beings in the wilds.
Since the mage would be lacking in any abilities that allow them to backstab or otherwise perform a sneak attack on the target, this would still be preserving the rogues primary role as a stealth based character. Once combat is initiated (by the player) they would resume to their normal form.
On the Shapechanger ability tree the spell for ravenform/mouseform/etc could be an optional branch, separate from the progression of attack talents and thus not a prerequisite for them. Similar to Rock Armor on the Primal Magic tree in DAII
