I remember using map pins for my PW in NwN1 and they were quite handy for the players, with a quick look at their in game map they could see where everything was. How do I do that with NwN2?

NOTE: I'm not looking for any player persistant pins, just the ones i create in the toolset for players to see in game on their in game map.

There is a map note placeable which is in the way points section. that should do what you want. They are quite flexible and can be switched on and off by script or just left on.

Note that they are tintable, in case you want to color code them on the map.

There's a generic script ga_mapnote in the conversation scripts that can be used to turn them on during a conversation eg when a quest/location is given.

rjshae.. Tintable ! I wish I'd known that before, excellent tip.

Well, every waypoint is tintable. Saves quite some trouble finding what's what :).

I like to tint my waypoints so I can distinguish what they're used for, and I had decided map note waypoints would be black, not knowing what would happen.  Alas, then I saw what that did to the map.

What did it do, lol?

Nothing catastrophic, it just made black map pins that were almost impossible to see, and looked like burn marks.

I tinted my map notes for Crimmor to help the player find things, stores got one color, quests another etc. I felt it was very handy myself.

Hi arcticwolf75,

I have also developed a "MAP PIN" system for players to add their own map pins.

MAP PINS FOR PLAYERS: http://worldofalthea...for-player.html

Cheers,

Lance.

Hi PJ156,

It's not something I have packaged as such, due to it involving quite a few different scripts and GUIs all over the place ... which , in turn, are quite integrated with other systems I have in place.

How soon do you need it? If you think you will need it before the end of the year, then maybe I can look at doing a dump of scripts for people to look through .... otherwise, I am hoping my own module may see the light of day at some point, which means the code will be available to all by then. :)

EDIT: I just tried looking at the code again, and it is all over the place. Maybe (if you would like), I may be able to share some of the main code, which you can then add/use/alter/work with to make a system? Or, let me know just how much you think you need, and I will say how easy it would be for me to extract.

In hindsight, I should design all my stuff a little more "generic" so that I can package them up a little easier. The problem is, I tend to add GUI elements that interact with OC GUIs so it all gets integrated.

Cheers,
Lance.

Same as PJ: I'm interested in getting the fog of war, the no map and the third one (I forgot the name, and I don't have the time to look for it right now).

Hi 4760,

My Fog of War with NO MAP facility (same package) is already available for download. :)

I actually thought ahead a little when I designed that package. It would have been hard for me to disentangle the code now, but at least I put a package together (which I did release) prior to integrating it with what I already had made.

Here is its download link:- http://nwvault.ign.c...I.Detail&id=157

Third one might be "Weather System"? "Readable Books"? "HP Bars"? "Captured Spell Books"? (See signature for links to these from my blog.)

Cheers,
Lance.

The weather system is pretty awesome :)

I have no skill with code so I will have to do without placeable map points. Thanks for the offer though.

Hi PJ,

Thanks for your vote of confidence.

Tell you what .... When I release my module, take a look at it and quickly come back to me to ask about extracting my code to put in a package for you to install into your own module.

You can also ask me about any other stuff that might interest you and I will package up us much as I can into various releases.

Hopefully, by the time I finish my module, I will have more time to do this for you. :)

Meant to do this with some xmls like the quest board. Is nice that you are willing to share these cool stuff Lance.

Hi andysks,

I really do want to get all my stuff out there for people to download and use. Yes, the quest board is another one of those bits I want to package at some point. I think I will end up taking a break between modules 1 and (2 and 3) just to package all my content for people to use ... those parts people are interested in anyway. ;)
