i don't quite get the whole "it scored higher than uncharted 2" thing everyone is talking about. I own both a ps3 and have uncharted 2 for it. the game is in my opinion a masterpiece on the ps3 and has some of the best graphics i've ever seen. but on the other end of the spectrum, the 360 has mass effect which is the best looking game on the xbox. i don't think the two should be compared since 1) they are on completely different systems and 2) they are of totally different genres. Mass Effects graphics aren't meant to be photorealistic like uncharted's, it is a science fiction game. and Mass Effect is an rpg, Nathan Drake's endeavors don't give you the choice to do whatever you may want to do but is instead a more linear kind of game which still has a compelling story.

although i do prefer mass effect over uncharted anyday and have had ME2 preordered since preorders for it first became available. i didn't get uncharted till a week after it came out.

i hope read this bioware! ^^^^^ i am very dedicated to your sci-fi masterpiece.

You people need to learn to disregard review numbers. They are completely arbitrary and subjective. Comparing ME2 to Uncharted 2 or MGS4 or GTAIV is idiotic, I don't care what metric you're using. And why would any of you care what game gets what score? You're not employees of any of these developers, you don't have money invested in any of this, and whatever number some dopey editor on a web site decides to attach to a game (frequently motivated by outside influences and bias) is not going to affect your enjoyment of the game. I understand I'm basically trying to tear down the fanboy culture, which is an impossible task in 2010, but jesus h christ get a grip people.

Judging by the review content, I think an unbiased review (ie. unconcerned with how a review score might look to readers) would have probably given it a 9.8 or 10.

Anyway, take a bow Bioware. You guys promised us a classic, and you made it happen. MASSIVE ++++1000 cred.

Damn, a 9.6. At least I know they weren't swallowed up by the hype and actually reviewed the game.

In they're review ign said there was a problem with the game corrupting, although not very often...
What is that suppose to mean?

most likely the same general game bugs that every game has. You probably won't notice it.

It's an insult that Mass2 gets a 9.6 yet MGS4 got a 10.

If MGS4 deserved that 10, Fallout 3 wouldn't have won game of the year. So... Kojima's check cleared I guess.

Nah, FO3 was a great game with a cool story... it's just a differnt game than ME and ME2 is all.  That said, FO3 is definitely in my top 5 most enjoyed and played games of all but ME and from the looks of it, ME2 will blow it away.  My expectations for ME2 are ultra high but I  have seen nothing to suggest they wont be met in spades thus far.  This will be THE game of 2010, bar none.  I will be busy playing this game for months just like with ME when it first came out.  My excitment is barely containable right now.

Given all the save files I have for the first one, this is a positive.

I imagine for you and me that means this game will be a 10.6 instead of a 9.6... which is still awesome.

Well done Bioware.

More good news, it seems. I like to read IGN's reviews, but I still get the impression that Eurogamer reviews are more discerning. I don't really put much faith in Gamespy reviews, and I like reading Gamespot reviews sometimes. I like IGN's comments, even though I tend to differ on the point of scoring. My priorities are very different from IGN's.

And reviews tend to be a lot more flattering than my critiques, even when I'd rate the game the same. :P

The reviews mean nothing to me. As long as I like the game (which I'm already sure I will), I don't care what number they stick next to it.

Great score, ythough the comments over there are sad really. They are 2 different games, but I guess because it got a higher score than * insert superb PS3 game here* they must be biased.

*Sigh* I glad alot of you on here are way more mature than those people. makes me glad t be part of this forum.

BTW Thane was said to be one of the best characters in the game, can't wait to see what the assassin is all about.

We are so mature that we are sad that this IGN review doesn't focus on the lack of same sex romancing.

I too found it amusing the one downside to the game is that it is "too referential" to the first game. Considering that was going to be one of the selling points to us that it was going to constantly refer to our actions in the first game... that's actually more of a plus than a minus for anyone on this board.

there is basically no negtive comments in the review, maybe editorial bumped down the initial score the reviewer gave it

9.6 is fantastic, and IGN is more reliable than a lot of places (although they loved mass effect 1 anyway so probably are more likely to give mass effect 2 a decent score anyway).

What does overly referential even mean.
