After seeing the most recent trailer, I just couldn't get this thought out of my head. What exactly is the story and the relevance behind the previous dragon ages towards this one? Can someone fill me in? I see over a thousand plot holes and a somewhat corrupted story. An that's from reading the title "Dragon Age: Inquisition". Am I the only one who see's the problem story wise.

You're going to have to be a lot more specific.

Inquisition: an organization in the Roman Catholic Church in the past that was responsible for finding and punishing people who did not accept its beliefs and practices.

So what the hell are the other races and those who oppose the Chantry (Catholic Church) doing in an inquisition? Especially mages. Did everyone just forget the ending to DA2. Did everyone forget what Anders has done? Still need me to be specific?

That's not what the Inquisition is, you don't have to work for the Chantry , period.

Then what is the Inquisition? Because from what I've seen it seemed like we are forced to work for the chantry.

Bioware HAVE SAID many many so many times we wont be working for the chantry it's an organization all on it's own please stop referring to the real world because the logic in dragon age would not and will not fit in any way

The original was the organization that eventually became the Templars and the Seekers.

This new Inquisition is for the most part and organization devoted solely to dealing with the breach in the veil and getting the rest of Thedas to stop killing each other long enough to achieve that goal. At the end of the day, you choose what your character believes and what they thnik of certain situations. So wether it resembles the old Inquisition or is something completely different is entirely up to you.

Me, I'm hoping to make it into a kind of peace enforcer kind of thing.

The inquisition in this game is not our reality's inquisition, comparing the two is a fallacy. The belief in Andraste isnt limited to race, mages have positions of power within the chantry. What implied that anyone forgot the events of DA 2? You're making judgments and assumptions about the game without playing it, assuming these things wont be explained in gameplay.

The Inquisition existed well-before the Chantry. It was an organization that founded itself after the death of Andraste but before Drakon formally organized the Andrastian cults into a single religion.

The Inquisition of old were essentially mage hunters and more. I think the closest comparison would be the Order of Stendarr in Skyrim, hunting abominations, (vampires and werewolves in Elder Scrolls,) wild and dangerous mages, went out among the common people and protected them from magical or mystical threats. They united with the Chantry under Drakon and the formation of the Circle of Magi, no longer known as the Inquisition but had become Templars and Seekers.

The devs said that this modern Inquisition, you won't have to follow the Chantry. In one of their earlier videos it's said that it's formed in opposition to it, and I personally took that as the Chantry is inefficient, isn't getting the job done, so our Inquisitor bypasses them completely, reforms the Inquisition, and starts going after whatever caused the Fade breach.

The devs also said that this game isn't really so much, by way of comparison, becoming a Jedi so much as founding the Jedi Order. We, as the Inquisitor, get to choose how we will combat the demonic threat, whom we will align, and what we stand for. So to speak.

The Lord Seeker write a letter to Justina V before he died to tell her that the Nevarran Accord was null and void. He had already gave the order to all Knight Commanders.

There is a good chance Grand Enchanter Fiona and Justina V were killed in the explosion. This would explain why Leliana is one of our advisers and not guarding Justina V.

From what I understand, Chantry Law allows the creation of an Inquisition, but the very existence of the Inquisition is itself a loophole that disconnects it from Chantry Rule.
