The Red Templars seems to be going out of there way to give off the whole "We're evil!" vibe, aren't they?
Hence why I'm not buying this game until I get some assurances from trusted users on these forums that it's not another ME3 Cerberus.

I think the Red Templars are probably driven completely insane by the red lyrium, but I don't think they comprise the entire templar order. Seems they're just an offshoot, to me.
Meaning that all Templars became RT?
Amidst other possibilities.
I want the Inqisition to invent skating.
And then challenge the red Templars to a series of games of ice hockey, speed skating, and figure skating to determine supremacy.

I do believe that the Reds are but a smaller offshoot of the more radical Order members, nothing more.

Sending in Iron Bull and the Warden for ice hockey. Plus Cole, they can't make a goal if they can't remember where the puck is.
Solas will bring it home with his aerodynamics in speed skating.
Dorian and Vivienne will make an epic pairs figure skating team.
We are set.

I've heard the Red Templars referred to as a "Creature" Faction by devs (PAX panel). Emphasis on the Creature part of course.
I think that speaks more volumes than it's supposed to. Red Templars are likely no more complex than Darkspawn. I'm not expecting some dramatic political schism within the Templar/Chantry order and complex ideological motivations behind Red Templars. They probably snorted one too many lines of red lyrium and went insane.
That's not to say they might not have interesting origins, like the Darkspawn.
The make or break with the Red Templars is: will we see good templars who identify as templars or will this be a rehash of Cerberus where everything about the templar ideal is also condemned as the devs try to push a specific worldview on the player?
Cerebrus syndrome is not something i would attribute to the red templars. The problem with Cerberus was despite being the faction with the most knowledge about the reapers and reaper indoctrination they completely fell for it and indoctrination is brought up gain as a major plot point. The templar order is a bit different. its suffers from lyrium addiction making them very easy to corrupt, they suffer severe ethical issues and they dont even know what they are drinking on a weekly basis or what they are even fighting.
And then suddenly people complain they can no longer live out their badass knight templar fantasies while they purge the corrupt mages for the greater good.
excellent pictures btw . this game is absolutely gorgeous. i hope its not buggy because frostbite tends to a bit buggy.
Darkspawns have no souls that is why they are mindless. The Red Templars do have souls, it might be more like "Assuming direct control".
We are just missing green lyrium now...
Oh you ![]()
have you not realized that's what color fade stuff is?
(snip)
Nice find, but it might be nice to leave the thread title as "LEAK! New area" and keep the details, including its name, inside the post, so people won't have tidbits revealed without wanting that.
I don't say this for the sake of picking a fight or anything; I just know that some of us prefer to avoid spoilers, even ones as minor as location hints, unless we're specifically seeking them out. Might you consider changing the thread name?

But it's not Lyrium...
Or is it?

They have stated a portion of the templars stayed with the chantey, so not all will be. Not sure if there will be independent templars though as technically I would think those who represent true templars would stay with the chantry.
I think it's like a three-way split for them
The one who stayed with the Chantry, the one's who left with Lamberts faction plus some of the Seekers, and the Red Templars
Loving the snowcapped background. Very foreboding, reminds me of Origins' Frostback Mountains.
. Not somewhere to tread lightly I'm sure.
Must we wait until October 7??? ![]()

Eh to be fair Cerberus was cray cray to start with. ME2 is where the OOCness occured. That's not the case with the templars.
Veddddy good
that would explain how they got the red lyrium without going into the deep roads!
on a side note..
I mean you would think seeing meredith become some rock corpse thing would make them stay away from it. But I guess someone was like "Sure why not, lets use the red lyrium anyway and go nuts, kill all mages, and some several hundred Innocent people give or take! that sounds like a great plan"........ ![]()

It is a great plan if you want to kill mages.
