My thing is this could only work if they improve the pet AI. Cause it's a little less than stellar at the moment and that's putting it mildly.

It could definitely work in MP, but they would likely need to add new animals to the universe to make them at all formidable.  Varren just wouldn't do it for me.  Maybe they could bring back the klixen from ME2 and use them as super sized, bullet sponge swarmers.

Fighting reaperized animals; that I can see. But the Alliance actually training, equipping, and deploying animals alongside soldiers? That seems a bit much. Even if the concept were to be implemented, the game's AI isn't exactly stellar.

 

I don't see why it would be a problem. In the first two games, Batarians and the Blood Pack use Varren against you on multiple occasions, so there's no reason why you couldn't have a Batarian or Blood pack character with a summonable Varren in the game.

I wouldn't want them to be summonable. They should be with you from the start, if they "die" you should have to revive them or spend a gel. I'd only want Varren. For those who actually use them (Krogan, and who ever else does in ME: U). AI's never gonna be perfect (if it does, well...SKYNET), so the ability for you to switch between your Krogan and Varren would be welcomed, along with being able to issue it squad commands and tell it what to proiritize. Be it a specific target or just watchin' your back.

Overall, if it's done right, hell yes! If not, leave it alone 'till it could be done right.

Making up for lost time. He never had the opportunity in his first life because his stomach was too fat and his arms were too short.

I´m not too thrilled about the prospect of fighting packs of reaperized varrens....but why not, may be more fun than I think. This idea of yours, though ....is one I really like. I do want a pet Varren (preferably one equipped with a portable Annihilation Field Generator) that I can take on a mission with the Slasher or Shaman :-).

Have always had a soft spot for the characters that have "pets", even if they're just turrets and drones for now.
