I think those two scenes made something good and something wrong. For example, you could fight in Varric's tale, whereas you could only walk (and walk slowly) while the Normandy was being destroyed. Not to talk about the unskippable videos. However, it was jarring to play as the preset Hawke and then create a completely different Hawke. Would it have been so difficult to create your character beforehand? The fight would have been a good time to check if you liked the model or not.

But the one who did it best was DA:O, of course. An introductory video that you could skip, then some quiet scenes and dialogue to set your character's personality, and sooner or later a fight.

That would be good

It is possible that you will just see a cinematic of say the Divine and Grand Enchanter arriving, then boom.   Then you literally wake up with no memory or at least no memory of what happened but are then told by Cassandra what took place and what it destroyed.    Then may be you look at the possessions you have on you and they trigger a bit of a memory.   Someone may recognise you from before you actually entered the Temple.   I must admit, unless it was just a generic outfit before they sorted out details, the Inquisitor is wearing a Seeker emblem on his chest when Cassandra interrogates him, which would suggest they were meant to be there, so may be the opposite is true and none of the surviving soldiers does recognise you, which is why Cass might be suspicious of your presence and how you survived.

I suppose nothing is going to be clear until we know more about the background that they give to us before starting the game.   Will it be simply, human noble or mercenary, Dalish elf, Cadesh dwarf or Tal-Vashoth, or will we actually be able to choose a few background details from a number of options (possibly a bit like Mass Effect) to make our Inquisitor unique to us and less of a blank canvas?

I am more interested in who those 2 (or more) wrapped bodies were in the trailer with Varric looking sad.

I think one of the could be Merrill. She's been in both DA games, so why not? She may have become a keeper of another clan.

The other one?

So, who else think this song would be perfect when the Inquisitor is in the fade after the explosion?

:3

Love that movie.

I really think that it was a generic outfit. I suppose that it was their way to showcase an iconic look while at the same time keeping the PC obscure (unlike Hawke or Shepard). "Yeah, this is the Inquisitor, see?" A bit like Hawke's Champion Armor. After all, I'm pretty sure the symbol is that of the Inquisition, and it should be very difficult to wear before the Inquisition itself is founded.

It is is not a matter of obligation for the Chantry has no more obligation towards the mages than it does towards the Templars. Rather, it is a matter of what is necessary to achieve peace if that is their stated goal. Removing the casus belli of only one of the groups does not lead towards peace; rather, the war shall continue with the only difference being that one of the sides will be supported by the Chantry.

Important though that may be; regardless of the current status of both mages and Templars regarding supllies, which is very much debatable mind you; none of these factions are, by any means, pushovers. And while having the Chantry provide equipment and supplies might tip the balance to either side, that will not make the war needed to subdue the side not supported by the Chantry any less destructive.

The only true templars are the ones that stay loyal to the chantry. The deserters will find little support supplies or recruits to replenish their troops. They're simply common bandits now. Except addicted to drugs they can't access which are also the only thing that let them use their special abilities to fight off the mages. Bandits don't have that problem generally.

Some of the most fun to be had in Origins was talking to the people important to your pre-warden life. Mama and Papa Cousland, Daddy Tabris, Sis Brosca (and Leske), Mahariel's clan mates, the extra insight into the Aeducans, and the Amell/Surana's insight into the Circle. I think if Bioware doesn't add a peaceful, talk and gather info prologue they are missing a great opportunity to demonstrate why Dragon Age is a lot of people's favorite western RPG series (modern).

Of course, given that I'm pretty sure the only reason DA2 lacked a more expansive prologue was because it was rushed far, far too much, I am about 85% sure that we will get a proper opening sequence.

For sure, I know there is no Origins but at least a 40 minute prologue before the breach will be a good thing.

I'm pretty sure there's more to the Summit than that. We will at least find out why we as what ever race we are, why we are there. I suspect there to be a prologue and then the breach.

Yes, and I hope there will be dialogue such as this:

"The Divine is very hopeful with these talks. The Mage leadership appears willing to negotiate...Lambert's sucessor is more reasonable than I expected him to be. Hearing him speak, one really believes that there is a middle ground between our freedom and their safety...And I wish it to be known that corruption will be as closely watched for in our ranks as amongst the mages. I will not tolerate Templars abusing their authority..."

And then BOOM!

This kind of fits Address MO don't you think?  If he is alive do you think he is the cause of the explosion?

He better not be alive. I left him rotting in the streets of Lowtown.

Plus Bioware said if you killed Anders, he is dead. Justice on the other hand...
