This is an empirically bad topic.

Well, they claim they don´t regret the ending of mass effect3 and are actually proud of the quality of what they delivered, so I don´t really care about if they regret selling bioware or not.

After that, I can only say I´m glad they´re gone. Good riddance. Anyone able to defend ME3´s ending is nothing but a cancer to the industry. The game world is better without them, who outstayed their welcome. I hope they can enjoy their millions, while being far away from game development. it´s better for all parts involved, including them, who can always use EA as escape-goat, and try to hold on to their old prestige, hoping that people will not associate them with the disappointments that TOR, DA2 and ME3 were. No need for a fourth strike.

What fourth strike? By what standard?

Financially, DA2 and ME3 were successes. TOR could count as a strike for that, though how much so has never been substantiated: it clearly failed to meet the paid subscription model goal, but that doesn't mean it actually lost money. It may have, or it could have just fallen short on the profit end of things. There's nothing to suggest Bioware is in exceptionally bad financial straights due to its last several games.

Critically, TOR and DA2 were broadly successful. TOR never had a serious issue with the quality of the writing, or even the game play- it failed in an overly ambitious financial goal and over-invested in its cost. It is, if anything, an example of how quality and effort in the creation don't translate to financial supperiority. DA2 did have some complaints about various parts, but these were pretty modest and could generally be attributed to the time crunch. The story generally got broad approval. Only ME3 could be considered a big reputation problem- though that was overwhelmingly about the ending, and the majority of complaints quieted after the Extended Cut. The rest of the game consistently got high marks.

Got cash money bling bling.

What is a regret?

Ah, Alfred Nobel. Perhaps the only person in human history who found out, in earnest.

The Doctors should record a music album about regretting selling and call it 'RPG's & Heartbreak'

There´s nothing about the me3 ending worth of respect. I can´t say if they simply have bad taste of if they were afraid of talking bad things about the game. In any case, to me, they both suck and I´ll be glad if they never return to everything game-related. By fat, the best thing they´ve ever done for the game industry was leaving it for good. And for that, I could not be more grateful.

Don't be mad because my waifu looks better then your waifu in a skin tight suit, and got a better ending.

Also trampling on their legacy because of one games horrible ending? Seems legit.

Here's the lyrics for their lead single 'Roleplaying'

I'm not writin' you the way I wanted to
What I had to do, had to run from you
I'm been writin' with you but the vibe is wrong
And that haunted me all the way home

So you never know, never never know
Never know enough, 'til it's over, love
'Til we lose control, system overload
Screamin', "No, no, no, n-no!

I'm not writin' you the way I wanted to
See I wanna move but can't escape from you
So I keep it low, keep a secret code
So everybody else don't have to know

So keep your role playing, your role playing
Keepin' role playing, your role playing
I keep your role playing, your lrole playing
I keep your role playing, you lose

I'm not writin' you the way I wanted to
I can't keep my cool, so I keep it true
I got somethin' to lose, so I gotta move
I can't keep myself and still keep you too

So I keep in mind when I'm on my own
Somewhere far from home, in the danger zone
How many times did I tell ya for it finally got through?
You lose, you lose

I'm not writin' you the way I wanted to
See I had to go, see I had to move
No more wastin' time, you can't wait for life
We're just racin time, where's the finish line?

So keep your role playing, your role playing
Keepin' role playing, your role playing
I keep your role playing, your lrole playing
I keep your role playing, you lose

I'm not writin' you the way I wanted to
I bet no one knew, I got no one new
Know I said I'm through, but got love for you
But I'm not writin' you the way I wanted to

Gotta keep it goin', keep the lovin' goin'
Keep it on a roll, only God knows
If I be with you, baby I'm confused
You choose, you choose

I'm not writin' you the way I wanted to
Where I wanna go, I don't need you
I've been down this road, too many times before
I'm not writin' you the way I wanted to

So keep your role playing, your role playing
Keepin' role playing, your role playing
I keep your role playing, your role playing
I keep your role playing, you lose, you lose
You lose, you lose, you lose, you lose

Ever since switching to F2P, EA quarterly earnings statements indicate that the game is one of the top two profit-generating enterprises (along with, I think, the Madden series?). It's been several months since I've had the opportunity to get myself entangled in the old "SWTOR is such a failure!" threads on the game's forums, but I'm pretty sure that that still holds. Seriously, you should see the ridiculous amounts of money that people shell out for Cartel Packs every time a new one drops.

And by any calculation the game made its development costs back a long time ago, back when the game was still sub-only. I guess operating costs could be gigantic, since we don't actually know what they are, but I doubt it. SWTOR should be quite profitable at this point.

I think the seventh doctor does. If Bioware hadn't been sold, Amy Pond could have had a job working there. Pretty sure the eighth doctor does not.

I know people hate EA but in no way do the doctors regret it.  Love them or hate them EA is a large enough company to keep the financial security of Bioware safe along with all their staff.  Plus the payout the Doctors got on top is great for their retirement. I think they did the best thing they could possibly do.

Hm. That is interesting. I'm not sure it matches rate of return concerns. Due to the expected appreciation of money from interest, a dollar today is worth more than a dollar a month from now: the opportunity cost is always a hanging hypothetical. But you are right,

And promising for me, since I'm currently enjoying playing the game and would like those servers to be supported.

I can give you about 900 million reason why they don't give 2 shits.
