Until Legacy, we've been pretty safe in the knowledge that at least there's only two blights to go. But now with Corypheus rubbing his taint on everything, could him bring on a whole new blight?

And is he definately the only Magister remaining?

What with the world going to hell and everybody trying to kill everybody, would you be surprised to see Corypheus throw a whole new Blight on top of that?

On top of there, why did Dumat point the Magisters towards the Golden City? Did he want to become an Archdemon?

Cory could be the central figure of a future DA game, maybe localized in tevinter and featuring one of the two remaining blights.

If I recall correctly, he did this so that the Magisters would free The Old Gods from their prison.

But now with Corypheus rubbing his taint on everything,

That is disgusting.

As for why, perhaps Dumat wanted the Golden City corrupted- Perhaps it had been black/corrupted always, and he simply wished to destroy mankind, starting with the most powerful, and most susceptible Empires (Tevinter) at that time. Perhaps Dumat (the Dragon/Archdemon) was simply a beast on a leash, a pawn of an even greater force and a face to be used. It was only one Archon (Thalsian) who spoke with Dumat, perhaps he was just a madman with grand ideas, or talking to a spirit who took the form of a Dragon.

I really hope so!

Me too. We need a game that consists of 4 acts:

1) Fighting off the Qunari.

2) Fighting off the blight.

3) Fighting off another exalted march.

4) Conquering the world!

That's how all DA games should start - with a Qunari invasion.

And is he definately the only Magister remaining?

For some reason, the number 4 pops into my head, 4 magisters...

Anyway, I always assumed the architect was a magister, with a concussion

Of course this is all just speculation, cause there is no proof that corypheus survived the fight with hawke...  i know the wiki says different, but its a wiki... it can be modified by anyone...

Wouldnt mind seeing a plot where him and the other corrupted magisters get together and try to destroy the world, but that will probably be the game in tevinter.... and may be they move the qunari invasion to a game set in antiva or rivain

its widely believed he survived and took over whichever person you sided with in legacy...  however we have no physical proof except what is written on the wiki, and until i see a published documentation, i wont 100% believe it

One could argue that the Architect looks suspiciously like Cory, if that's the case then there could be several former Magisters running around.

It's a 99.9% sure thing, but what that means for old Cory is yet to be seen. Does he still have all his powers, or was it just an escape from death trick? If the former, is it like with the Archdemons and the body will shift into his old one? Awkward....If the latter then I'm sure he much prefers the mage Janeka over the mostly ghoulish warrior Larius.

A blight is just a huge number of darkspawn erupting on the surface. A blight could occur without an archdemon, if there was ever a force driving darkspawn to the surface in apocalyptic numbers. Running out of archdemons might do just that - so their deaths might not be a good thing at all.

Besides Corypheus, there are good reasons to believe the Architect is also an old Magister who simply lost memories like Shale did.

I'll be so disappointed if Corypheus doesn't make an apparence in DA:I, especially if he's not possessing Janeka/Larius

There will be an 8th blight when all the old gods are dead anyway, no song to call the darkspawn and keep them digging underground, they will all likely flock to the surface, would likely be the worst blight yet.
Its unclear whether Corypheus emits enough influence over the Darkspawn to control an entire horde however, he could effect those around his prison and Kirkwall..But the Old gods call is heard by all darkspawn across all of thedas..So I don't think Cory is quite at the same level as An Archdemon as far as influence over the horde goes.

I think that this fan theory/heresy is tangentially related and an interesting topic for discussion.

The Prophetess and the Dragon of Silence

I'm not sure if this topic has come up yet on here, but if true then the implications could be great for Thedas if ever uncovered.

For some reason I expect the Darkspawn story to take a turn for the unexpected. Everything was linear till the last blight. Darkspawn digged hard enough. Found archdemons, went on rampage. But this blight was different because of the Architect. Now there is Corypheus in play and we have at least one more detail for the Black City. Plus everything is literally going to **** in this age, so it's the time for thinking big ;p

The blight is always a looming threat. With Corypheus now awakened and learning about what has happened since him and his colleagues went into the city I can only imagine nothing good will come.

He may use the gray wardens to locate the other magisters and especially the old gods. Awakening 2 old gods at the same time may not be too farfetched for a future game/novel.

Also weren't there 5 magisters depicted?

His 5 minutes of dialog was the single most riveting scene of the entire DA series.  Bar none, he is the closest thing to real history we have encountered.  It's not even close.  Everything else is myth, legend, propaganda, or straight BS.
