How to deal with collectors?

About my gameplay...I am very aggressive and have a tendency to try and drop those couple more soldiers, meanwhile I'm being surrounded. I also love power classes, justicar and human engineer (no drone) I enjoy a lot, but require a light gun that I can't seem to take bosses quickly with.
Well anyway...I just don't know what to do different with these collectors, lol...they have my number!

Shooting them in the heads work for me.

Their AOE attacks can be difficult to deal with. Scions will carpet bomb you and Praetorians do impossible things from their butts.
Abominations hit you with fire damage if you are close enough when they are destroyed.
Difficult to stand and deliver with most kits v this faction . You need to be moving or ready to move to avoid these attacks. The stomping happens with all factions in Gold . You just need to work out which enemies to gel for.

Collectors have strong attacks but weak barriers and armor. Kill as many Abominations as you can since they are easiest on the board and take up a lot of wave budget points available, giving you less enemies to kill per wave. Also note that at least 2 bosses - Scion or Pratorean - will be possessed at the same time, making them all the more difficult. Use Warp or Incendiary Rounds. Biotic Powers work really well with them as well.

For power classes take the acolyte + hurricane/BPP/CSMG combo. Acolyte + power for mooks, SMG for bosses.

Being mobile is a start. Staying in an area for too long never ends well. A lot of players still haven't learnt this.

As if score matters, because of broken XP distribution system and everyone steals your XP in the end anyways.
You thought Collectors were tough, try Geth!

Don't be afraid to run. Seriously.
As Boog says, trying to hold your ground against them is hard, especially when they start carpet bombing your ***.
Also, try to avoid casting powers on a flying praetorian, make them land first, either by shooting them a lot or by getting close then running away again before they nom your brain.

And yes obviously there are much better players, as I've encountered them...but I wasn't asking for jackass sarcasm.
As for the real replies, thanks guys. I use my hurricane mostly on power classes, but at just level 1 it takes forever on a pratorean.

That reminds me, are the pratoreans invincible when flying with the barrier orb? Never seem to take any damage then.
The bubble will protect them from all powers, and will be triggered if a power is used on them or a nearby unit while they're hovering.
Wait for them to land before you cast a power on them.

They are invincible vs powers but not vs weapons. Shot them as they fly, don't use powers. You can make them land by closing in on. It is tricky, but once they land you can use your powers. Alos you can use your powers while they are in butt lasor mode. Their head is underneath.
Also, do not forget to pop scion scaks.
As said BPP and CSMG can be a good substitue for the hurricane.

Invincible to powers, but not to gunfire.
If you like casters, especially adepts, getting them to land is important because of this.
Speaking of flying praetorians, at least it's easier to hit them in their weak spot when they fly, which helps with forcing them to land.

Lol I prefer Geth! The hunter stunlock is infuriating, though. Those scions bombing you from across the map and pratoreans taking absurd damage to kill gets me every time.
****** Scions are almost as bad as Geth Primes.

that pic is... rather incorrect when you take into account the multitudes of double+ hit bugs, but sure.
You need good armor damage and barrier stripping against collectors. A good gun always works - it's hard to tell you what guns are good without knowing your manifest and your playstyle. Chances are you are overestimating how much cooldown percentage you need - due to diminishing returns a better gun may be your best answer (also depends on the kit a little, etc. etc.) Also bringing the correct and appropriate ammo equip can make a huge difference.

CDTheBookMan just said you should target on easy preys first, don't fight a praetorian unless necessary.
If you have to fight it, make sure you don't use power when it is still floating.
High level wraith is actually a better weapon than hurricane for most of the power classes since it is easier to score HS while maintaining fairly good CD(Arc pistol is also a good option if most of your UR weapons are still at low level).

Hmm ok thanks...I had no idea with the flying pratoreans...I just run away usually, lol. The primes very rarely get me, it's that turret they spawn behind me...every time.
I was noticing with the new forum I can't seem to find my manifest. My ur's are very low..talon 1, which I love but worthless medium to long range, saber 2, hurricane 1, no lancer, particle rifle, typhon etc. I've tried the arc pistol but have a hard time making myself charge it some before shooting...it is powerful though.
