I do believe that...never see a destroyer owning with a phaeston...haha. I tried the collector sniper once and immediately hated it. It goes through that clip EXCEPTIONALLY fast and takes a good chunk of time to recharge. I can see it being good, but it felt so weird to me.

Yeah I always get out flanked against collectors...sneaky roaches.

If you like biotic kits try the stasis users. . Stasis is quite effective against the annoying collector mooks

I usually rage quit and find a faction that doesn't annoy me as much as Collectors do.

Destroyer can own with a phaeston. As well as TSol. And for sure both can own with a Revenant.

But this is a sad true, aside from a bunch of great shotguns and arc-pistol, there are almost zero decent rare weapons.

CSR is a beast, two simple rules:

1. Never overheat! Leave at least 1 round in clip

2. Use it like mattock, i.e. tap the button, do not press it constantly (after some time it starts using 2x rounds without increase in damage output).

3. Always aim for the head.

The Destroyer/Tsol can wreck with all the rare ARs + Phaeston IF you put top notch consumables on them. That's the other thing the OP has working against him.. no access to level IV ammo bc no maxed rares. AP III is decent.. but it leaves damage on the table vs armor.

Good advice on the CSR.

If you have a Claymore... try the FQE Claymore. Yes, it's heavy, but Cryo Blast has a very short cooldown so you won't care.

It's my favorite kit against Collectors. Cryo Blast will debuff bosses, stagger captains (easy headshots) and freeze groups of abominations/troopers. Incinerate help to deal with seeker swarms too.

You will have crowd control, bosses debuff and a weapon that can deal with bosses and osk all mooks.

Sentry turret is optional, not optimal but fun and not as useless as BSN think.

I used to hate collectors too... if you have a geth scanner, use it at least to learn their behaviour. It's not a good idea to use it all the time and grow too dependant of it, but it can help.

Beware of Captains, they are a bunch of sneaky bastards, very good to occupy the map and attack the team from behind while you are carpet bombed by scions, bee'd, buttlazor'd and overrun by abominations.

and +1 everyone about staying mobile... holding the line only work in ME1

My ur's are very low..talon 1, which I love but worthless medium to long range, ....

The talon gets enhanced longer range hitting power if you put the scope on it.

It comes down to the pacing, I'd say. They seem to press on a bit faster and in more places because of their seekers.

I favour power classes which can be a pain, but I really like to tackle collectors with the Human Adept. Singularity keeps most pests away, primes and allows for double detonations.

And if a mook gets close I'll always have that heavy melee.

Or I take Shadow: decapitations galore and against Scions I like to go close and ask them out for a dance.

Do not underestimate swarms. I used to ignore them, but that´s not good idea. Their damage can be quite significant, especially if it´s possessed. They strip you of the shields and of course they will lock your powers.

As others said, it´s good to be on the move.

Dodge when killing regular abominations, so you won´t get caught in their explosion radius.

Pick your enemies. For example, Praetorians can be usually left alone, unless they are cornering you. Just make sure you know where they are and what they are doing, but shoot something else. Scions preferably

Praetorian laser goes through soft cover and many time through low cover as well(boxes, dividers etc.). Take hard cover if they start lasering (they sometimes shoot lasers from their back too)

Also be aware that Scions are huge motherf****s, so shoot them. Just shoot them really!

That´s all I could come up with right now. Sorry if I say something you already know. :)

Also: If you play in certain maps that include narrow hallways and doors, you can funnel the big guys to your convenience and deal with the other stuff while the Scions and Praetorerians shuffle around each other. This is also at times a good occasion to blast a Praerortian off the map by force of explosion, since they sometimes get stuck on top of a crate while bumping into the others.

I pioneered the 'play the claymore not the kit' concept.. at least, I never heard anyone say it before and I thought of it on my own.

..8 seconds, 10 seconds.. you're nitpicking like a f'n naggy wife chewing out her husband. It's the concept that matters.. and yes I know about the Fury/claymore combo.

I don't think you grasp the concept that some people want to play the game with more of a focus on powers and power combos instead of min/max weapon spam. Some people.. really like the sound of biotic explosions and fire explosions.. people like you, seem to greatly enjoy the sound of headshots more than anything. Neither person is wrong.. yet you seem to think anyone who doesn't slap a heavy ass gun on every kit is wrong.. and then you talk down to them and say, "claymore claymore claymore' everyday.

*****NEWSFLASH*****

There is more than one way to play the game effectively.

Thank you. Without hurdurr/claymoars/typhoons/pprs some people do fine in gold and they live biotic booms sounds, shattering glass cryo explosions or fireblasts. Even Seeing kill feed from lackluster tech burst is satisfying. As satisfying as headshot kills for some people.

Me loves me some power classes.

Hard cover for butt lazers is all you need to know.

I really don't get why so many hate the Collectors with Geth faction around?

For me the Collectors at the best factions + best designed/balanced faction and most fun/exciting faction to play against. Cerberus has annoying Phantoms & lol-la-goons. Repears have Banshee & their magnet hands. And Geth has... well, a bunch of cheap cheater if you ask me. The most of which I hate is the Geth Hunters and their free shots even when staggered charged Geth Shotguns, elbows of doom, etc.

Completely agree with this. I've always stated that while the collectors are tough, they don't feel cheap like the annoying geth faction followed closely by the absurded-ness of the cerb faction at certain points where it pertains to phantoms ignoring certain gaming mechanics relating to them taking on damage. No way i should be biotic charging into a sync-kill or dragoons just walking and charging into their death.

I understand it's a game, but being that cerb are more like humans...the dragoons sometimes act like robots in the way that they just continue forward even tho you are lighting them up with firearms or powers. There needs to be a little more variety in how a faction reacts in terms of being hit and taking on damage because right now, they just seem to all react very similar, which is understandable to an extent (there is only so much they can do with their coding budget)...so i'm kinda nit-picking, but a slight improvement in that area would be great.

But i would take collectors over the geth any day of the week...invisible rocket troopers shooting multiple rockets, stun-lock everywhere by everybody, pyros incredible flame length..primes drones/ pulse rifle hitting you from across the map..etc..bombers coming outta nowhere...it's just an annoying and cheap faction... :pinched:

Run and gun!

Thought I would pick up the Incisor again after the recent debate. TSent with Incisor, HVB + Thermal scope and Incendiary Ammo.

Dropped into a game in progress which was already going badly. Collectors Jade. Ran in rings around that darn map and clutched a top slot with a poor 100K score.

I hate collectors!

BTW: Collectors are sexist

If you have problems with the Praetorians and scions, check out these threads. Very good stuff

Where to shoot

Bosses

Other things to note:

  • Aim for scion humps - popping it takes out about 1/3 of their health
  • shoot (possessed) abominations in the head and they shouldn't explode
  • Situational awareness - keep an eye out for seeker swarms and a-bombs that love to flank, but the last thing you want is a praetorian coming up behind you
  • They are bugs - KILL THEM WITH FIRE! No really, inc ammo and nades, incinerate, and yes... flamer. the FireBadPanic! mechanic can get you a second or two to escape
  • Do not use powers on a flying Praetorian, they put up a bubble that makes them immune to all powers. (most nooby pugs ignore this which makes power classes tough to use)
  • Headshots, Headshots, and MOAR HEADSHOTS

Personally, I do not play as slow characters like krogan, batarian, etc. Being mobile is essential, but collectors like to use swarms and a-bombs to keep shields down so that a rouge scion shot can decimate you.

I personally stay mobile and stun the living hell out of them. If you have a javelin GI, you can tear the Praetorians a new one very easily. Cause that combo packs enough power to either kill it quick or expose the group of husk heads below the beak and provide the easiest headshot spot on an enemy. If you have access to either warp or incendiary ammo for other characters, then you'll do fine.

If you find yourself on a map like Glacier, you can make the praetorians and scions dogpile near the basement if they try to come up the middle. If that happens, don't go into the area that they're stuck on or otherwise they might jiggle loose and start coming after you. Captains are a royal pain in the butt. If you have anything that can stagger them, use it. The more they're staggered, the less their ignore gate BS comes out.

To prevent abominations from exploding, you actually have to decapitate it. Some characters heavy melees can decap as follows: Batarian, vorcha, slayer, shadow. High powered guns will also decapitate, some guns have a chance to decap, while others can't decap at all. SMGs cannot decap, carnifex and paladin handguns decap. Key thing is to knock abominations away from you so that you don't suffer damage from their explosions, both direct and DoT.

If you see a possessed trooper around, watch out cause they can cast webs that dramatically slow your movement and you'll be stuck. They don't have as much barriers and health as a possessed captain but can be just as bad if not dealt with at the immediate moment. Also OP, if you're really confident about your headshot ability, then the collectors are the faction to put those to good use on as their heads (minus the abominations) are huge.

Headshots, keeping at range and mobility always seem to work for me.  That said, classes which seem to excel in my experience include the Asari Huntress, Batarian Soldier, Batarian Slasher, Krogan Soldier, Vorcha Soldier/Sentinel...pretty much anything which can set up and/or detonate fire and warp combos.

I admit, I may be in a minority here, but I enjoy fighting Collectors.  Seeker Swarms aside they are, IMO, the most fun faction to play against.

There's a way to neutralize every single enemy type in Collectors pretty easily.

IE: Bees- just get sort close then dodge away and they explode on their own. This takes a little practice.

Infantry is pretty easy to shoot in the head; Possessed Captains are a pain in the ass though keep in mind where they are ALL the time.

Scions- aim for the humps if possible through both humps from the side and the head area. Their tracking of laterally moving characters sucks use that to your advantage.

Praetorian- Aim under the beak area. Bubble makes immune to most powers except reave, you can also still throw nades beside them if hit box isn't brought up. Usually that never works though because someone screws it up and your dot is lost. Bringing up the bubble if you have a Piranha or Raider isn't always a bad idea. Take HARD cover versus both Praetorians and Scions.

Possessed Abombs-always shoot them in the body when they grab your friends. Kidding but seriously shoot them in the body when they grab your friends.

you know guys, he said he likes power kits...

He needs a cheese power like Reave that doesn't care about Praetorians' attempt to block them.

Really the best advice against Collectors is to be the host.  Next is to not stack the team all in one place as Scions are built to punish via cluster bombs and their plasma spash damage (or whatever their gun is).  This is probably secondary to the Scions' role of simultaneously punishing people for being in and out of cover (which is a great to have in one unit...).

Otherwise I would just say stick it out through the first few waves, since that is where more of their high DPS hitscan attacks are located and where it is probably more annoying for most "power users."

Anyone who plays a caster class and gets weapons kills/medals should be thrown out the airlock.  Especially for the Fury.  They should assign negative scores for every weapons kill.  Zero gun kills, folks.

If one does not have the skill to play the Fury without treating her like a Demolisher, then you're not a good Fury player.

Oh, it requires so much skill to play powerclasses lol. Esp after introduction of lolcolyte.

Just for you to know - Claymore Fury is more difficult to play than lolcolyte fury.
