It doesn't have homosexual romances, only hetero. So i'm noping the hell out of this game.

You seriously play RPG's based on whether they include homosexual romances or not? Christ...

This guy is doing a let's play, so you can get a better look at the game:

And he completely sucks ass at playing...

Speaking of romances, this game is getting its ass pounded by reviewers...

Yes, you're not a real gamer...

Nah, I'm kidding. Just seems like a strange reason to avoid a game. As you said though, the game sucks so you've made a wise decision anyways.

Overall, very happy with my purchase. Not the best game I've ever played, but so far it's been a fun mix of Dragon Age and Witcher 2. Difficulty of the game seems overstated, although I've definitely come across some lame mechanics, such as not being able to dodge in the warrior stance. Other games have gotten me trained in that mentality of dodge, unfortunately.

Yeah, I don't see why they would add romances at first place and make them hetero only, so only the straight people would have the fun? Nah, don't think so.

Besides, there are many other better RPG games to play. ;)

It's a decent game. It's got its own set of quirks, but not terrible by any means.  Not sure how anyone who hasn't played it can say it sucks though...

I was disappointed at first about the CC, but the characters aren't Morrowind/Oblivion hideous by any means.

Combat isn't too bad. It reminds me of The Witcher with the combat switching.

All in all, not bad for $25.

Currently playing through this with a female character and enjoying it a lot.

The female voice sounds vaguely familiar -- I think she voiced that one female warrior from The Companions in Skyrim.

Aela the Huntress, right? I think the VA is Claudia Christian.

From what I have seen it seems alright. Apparently it's rather short though. I've watched bits of Kaiico's playthrough and he finished it in 14 hours:

That's not very long, and he intended to go full demon but his character never changed. Not sure what went wrong there, but if the possession thing is less important than it was made out to be that would be disappointing, because it's the reason I was interested. He did skip dialogue and did not do most of the side quests, I think, so it could definitely be longer, but keep in mind that the main quest is apparently rather short.

I think it's pathetic. Are you that starved for affirmation? At any rate, the game does look bad, worse than War Logs which at least had a unique setting and premise. Spiders is plainly an amateurish dev with much to learn.

The main quest is short, but the side quests are very well integrated into the story. There's just one "main" quest per chapter, and it doesn't have very many steps each time.

The gameplay is where the game suffers IMO. They really needed a better combat developer. It's closer to Nintendo hard through cheapness often. I suppose the developers were trying to get a DSI-II feel for higher difficulties, but the combat is just not as smooth and the game as too much story.

Also, your visual appearance absolutely changes if you keep siding with the demon, and you get a lot of different dialogue with it (it insults you non-stop and laments being stuck with an idiot if you refuse it). The encounters aren't that common, but they're a real highlight. It's got very much of a battle at the centre of the mind vibe.

I'm not in your business. My like is an accident. Funny that I accidentally liked your post and I can't undo that. Anyway, I'm not in your business; you made an absurd declaration and I disagreed with it.

Also it may be absurd to you, to me it's not. And like i said, mind your own business and let people do whatever the hell they want. :)

Okay, then I guess it's more on that particular player then. Thanks. ^_^  I always tend to complete every side quest I come across, so it would be different for me anyway. Not sure how he messed up the demon part then. One of the video reviews that has been posted here did show a burning character with horns.

Maybe they will patch some of the imbalance in combat at some point? It seems a shame that some interesting ideas get lost in poor camera and frequent changes in difficulty (if the reviews are to be believed). Not that a patch would be ideal. It should be enjoyable at release. I remember DA2's combat at release all too well...

Well I'm at the elven city, and so far it's rather entertaining. I must say playing the game in stealth mode(as a rogue) is a pretty awesome experience. Once you open that tree it really is bad ass, sneaking around and killing enemies.
The combat is pretty fluid as a rogue (have not tried the warrior).

You have to pick dialogue options to side with the demon. It's not about skills - it's about following the options that it lays out for you. The demon will say, "let's do [X]" and if you do, the character winds up letting it alter him or her.

I find the game to be, well, pretty easy on the easiest difficulty, but I honestly don't play action RPGs for a challenge. The combat has a formula. Like, for example, if you use 2H weapons, you don't really stagger based on your melee sword attacks but rather on this short melee kick, which you can use to combo. You can also block midswing, so it takes a bit of timing to basically try and riposte your enemies. Also, enemies tend to have a lot of HP bloat, so fights can take a while.

It's not very fluid, at least in 2H style. If people play it like TW2 they'll get massacred because you're really clunky.

The story seems completely generic, and the characters are all essentially burly white dudes with matching personalities you'd come to expect from burly sacks of testorone. The gameplay appears to be the selling point but I think I'll stick with Dragon's Dogma for that.

Terrible game, got it through gamefly, gave it back after 4 or 5 hours. It's a gltiched up mess, it's ugly, the story is meh, and the voice acting is average at best. And the combat sucks. The RPG elements are, about par for the course. It sucks. Don't go near it.

Some of my thoughts so far:

I'm not very far in this game, maybe only like 7-8 hours, but it's very dissappointing so far unfortunately. It's not a bad game exactly, but it's definately not great. It has a lot of problems, mainly with combat. Spider tried to build up the vibe that it wasn't an easy game in interviews, and they're right. It's really not. But the reason for this is that the combat system isn't done very well, not because the combat is challenging. It just feels really sloppy. And that's coming from someone that is genuinely trying to fall in love with this game, because i've been looking forward to it ever since it was announced. You do so little damage, and the enemy can kick your ass in just a couple hits. The two handed style is ridiculously slow, and the damage you do is hardly enough to make the loss of speed worth it. The daggers are slightly better, but still, combat quickly becomes a matter of "when the hell is this fight gonna be over?" instead of "damn this is fun!" I'm not gonna lie, there have been a few moments where I've actually enjoyed the game. But it's not enough to drag it out of the "meh" category.

Sorry, had to go on that little rant lol.

Anyway, back to your little issue I would suggest the following.

If your having problems (and haven't done so already) I would suggest being evil and just going full pyromancer as soon as you get the chance. I don't ordinarily like being evil in my first playthrough of this type of game, but the damage your able to do is pretty insane compared to the other trees when you put a few points into it. Still not enough to make the game a breeze by any means, but I started a second character just to see how pyromancy was and it definately is a lot easier. If you want to be good, then I would focus on the whole daggers sneak sneak stabby gameplay. Even though the damage hit per hit is the weakest of all the trees the speed of the attacks make it the best(in my opinion) of the melee trees. All I've really been doing is hit hit, dodge, hit hit dodge etc. It's not particualy enjoyable or exciting, but it works. I haven't beaten the game yet, probably around halfway(from what i've read in reviews it lasts around 15 hours) in my main playthrough but i'm making progress.
