Like I said; she didn't say "The warden who ended the blight was an elf". Her statement could very well be taken as referring to Zevran and Sketch. It almost certainly did refer to the Warden, but I do think they're being intentionally vague as to not slap people in the face with "THIS IS HOW IT IS".

I thought so as well :)  Leliana might certainly have been referring merely to Zev and Sketch if the Warden wasn't elven.  If the Warden was an elf of any origin the statement worked perfectly.  Indeed, I felt the elipsis in that conversation was signficant enough that it could easily have communicated a romantic attachment as well, should the reader have wanted to read that into Leliana's hesitation.

I think Mr. Weekes did a deft job handling multiple potential Wardens there without defining too much, as well as addressing Leliana's own comrades, friends and potential romances.

By the way, talking about the Bioware canon... does anybody know if the Dalish Martyr romanced anyone? Probably the least important question about Bioware's canon, but I just thought of it.

It's a good question :) There is a default romance state but I'm not certain it's been concretely revealed.  Mr. Darrah commented on it late last year but was uncertain what had been determined:

user·Nov 25
@BioMarkDarrah Is there a Default canon Romance option? Just out of curiosity.

Mark Darrah‏@BioMarkDarrah· @user yes but I don't remember what it is.  Might be no romance.

I rly hope that ferelden won't be consumed by orlais whether by war or 1 sided proposal of celene. Last thing ferelden needs is corrupted empress and her game which is system that encourages corruption from the top to the bottom.

I agree. However, I think we're witnessing the decline and fall of the Orlesian Empire (Brother Genitivi's next book, perhaps?) as it decays at the hands of misrule, faction, civil war and now the Breach. Ferelden had a tough time recovering from the Blight and now it has the Breach to contend with, but I think that provided it had the right leadership (which I personally think is best supplied by Anora) it'd make a much tougher opponent for Orlais than it did the first time around.

Depending on player choices, I think one of the major themes we'll see over the course of the series is the decline of Orlais and rise of Ferelden as major Theodosian powers.

I don't think we see Ferelden rise to anything. There are two options for it to grow territorially: invade the Dales, or cross the narrow sea and try to conquer the Free Marchers. Even assuming it had the military power to do this, and it had the ability to launch an amphibious invasion of the neighbouring territory, I don't think we see much of a change in the status quo. Rather, I think the world is set for another qunari invasion.

I rather doubt that series will last for long if there won't be any progress after all many players want effects of their choices even mass effect had great changes starting on me 1 ending on 3 situation could change depending on your choices.

Who says it has to grow in territory to become a major power?

Well in my game he's dead, so glad he wasn't mentioned or that would have broke immersion A bit for me.Anyway if Fereldens monarch is smart they will hope for the war to drag on and for Celene to be the winner.. Both sides want Ferelden but Celene is more subtle about it and wants to achive it through Intrigue whereas Gaspard is more blunt and wants to achive it by war.. Ferelden has a better chance with Celene and to make overtures to Orlais and esentially kiss Orlesian behind without looking too weak while they regain their strength.

Ferelden has so much oppotunity to take advantage of and rise to power if it plays its card right. The best thing they could hope for is a Qunari Invasion so as to have a pretext to build themselves a massive navy without drawing the concern of their powerful neighbours. The Monarchy needs to break the power of the bannorns since they are to chaotic and holding Ferelden back (This can achived a number of ways, like a coalition of the coastlands lords, Anoras university to train bureaucratsfrom among the commons, creating a connection between The crown and the commoners and bypassing the nobility in various ways) And taking advantage of increased trade along the waking sea which they are doing as witnessed in DA2 with Kirkwall becoming very concerned with Amaranthines growth as a trading power causing the Viscount to turn to pirates. Theres alot Ferelden can do to increase its power, It would take ages for me to write out all the ones I can think of off hand. But foreign conquest would not be necessary at all, In fact at the moment it would be very foolish and not the most advantagious way to increase their power anyway.

Celene kind seemed to lose interest in taking over Ferelden after her plan to marry Calian became unfeasible.

Very true. Celene seems, after all, to actually know a bit about Ferelden and Fereldans, while other Orlesians (looking at you Gaspard!) allow their prejudices about them to cloud their judgment. She is therefore aware that any occupation of Ferelden by force will be short-lived and bloody and has concluded that if she can't make a marriage alliance it is best to maintain a state of ententé cordiale, basically, I'm saying Celene is a better statesperson than the Duke.

I wonder if my Cousland Queen will be referenced in DA:I.
