The Venom "shotgun" is overpowered. Period.

Seriously. Even on Insanity.

I've never had an easier playthought than while using it. It eats Brutes for breakfast -one charged shot with a Venom V + High Caliber + Incendiary Ammo and they're basically dead...can't wait for X), it takes 3 or 4 charged shots to take down Atlases, Banshees and Geth Primes (again, can't wait for X), and it guts away tight groups of weak enemies like they're nothing. And that besides it being an "unshotgun", as capable on mid-far range as it is in close (if you aim carefully, of course...it's only drawback).

If I do a NG+ and if X is light enough to reach +200% on my Vanguard, I'll put Spare Thermal Clip as my 2nd mod instead of Ultralight. Even more unfairness to...well, everyone else (but fun as hell). Alternatively, I'll repick the Geth Plasma shotgun, which was my fav ME2 weapon :D

The Venom worked really well for my Soldier. I was afraid of playing a Soldier since I am such bad shot, but the Venom fixed that! Just aim at the feet of a group of enemies or the wall behind them and KABLOOIE! I don't think I would like it for a Vanguard, though. Too much time charging up rather than shooting. It seems you would only get in one shot in between Charges.

I don't have the Venom, but from the SP stats and some vids I have seen it is very powerful.

The nerfed MP version is very powerful in MP, mainly because it does decent damage, staggers, and can area prime.

That's the point: I only use it for high-tier enemies and turrets, which are precisely the weak point of a Vanguard. For all the rest I already have NovaGuard anhiliation. And as a bonus option, Adept-like combos of Pull/Shockwave-Flare.

It's just my perfect build :D Went thought half the game without even using Medi-Gel. On Insanity.

It's a darn shame they nerfed it in MP (everybody says that, although I haven't tested it yet). I'm desperately buying Premium Spectre Packs hoping it appears :(

Don't buy the PSP's. Focus your efforts on either the Reserves or Arsenel packs unless you have your rares maxed out. The chance of unlocking an ultra-rare with a PSP is not that much higher than with those other packs. Particularly if you don't have your rare weapons maxed out I would go with Arsenal packs. That will pretty much ensure that you will at least make progress towards maxing out your rare weapons if you don't get an ultra-rare.

Well I don't want to necessarily give the wrong impression.  It is isn't "powerful" in the same sense as the Reegar, Talon, etc.  The stagger and area priming is what makes it powerful on the right characters, especially against Cerberus and the Geth, really any of the humanoid targets.  If they kept the 500% multiplier, it would have been too good against bosses most likely.

Is there any page where it shows the multipliers for ME3/MP weapons? Wikia has them for ME2, but not ME3 :P

Most don't have defense multipliers, that is why they are not shown.

Try this link for a spreadsheet of ME3 weapons.  Be advised that the SP data is out of date, since the last patch put all the balance changes from MP through Dec 5th, 2012 in the game for the non-DLC guns.

Errr...but they cost the same...I mean PSP's, Arsenal and Reserves....

But wouldn't you rather focus your efforts on maxing out your weapons, rather than being able to adjust the color of the lights on your Asari Valkyrie? The PSP can give you both characters or weapons, whereas with the Arsenal you almost never pick up a character card.

I can also say I'd rather like to try to unlock the Geth Juggernaut and N7 Fury instead of upgrading to a freakin' Predator or Phalanx III....

Right now I'd like as much a good weapon as any class with Gold potential. The only one I'm only decently good at are Novaguards.

My strategy when trying to get specific characters was to save up some credits, uninstall all the DLC except the one that had the character I wanted, then go to the store and buy character packs. No guarantee, but it will increase your chances.

The Fury is great and the Juggernaught does seem formidable, but I just can't stand how slow it is. The Fury is also a tad bit squishy. I like her on Bronze, but I doubt I could play her well on Gold. Now the Paladin is my go-to Gold character when facing an unknown enemy. Kroguard if I know we are going to be fighting geth.

Uhmmm...I'll add the Paladin to the list of "wanted" characters (along with the Fury and the Juggernaut). It seems interesting.

I'll also try a Kroguard with a Reegar III vs Geth, see if I can finally go Gold with it :P

The Reegar is pretty bloody heavy. My set up for the Kroguard involves a Disciple X and Omni-Blade V. With that setup I get a 200% cool down bonus. I doubt you have those high level guns yet, but I would still keep the weight down since Charge is your life blood. Silver solos with Kroguard a easy as heck. You don't even need any consumables. I never did manage a Gold solo with him though. Wave 8 has no Primes in it and between the stagger and the smallness of the targets my Charge would often fail. But I am on xbox so aiming is not as precise as on a PC. You can take a look at my N7 page to see how I have my Kroguard set up. He is specced for solo matches.

This is how I run Krogan Battlemaster.

It is probably more forgiving on a solo than spec'ing melee in fitness.  It isn't too hard to get into Rage this way.

Also the last rank of Barrier for Power Recharge instead of 10% DR is probably worth it so you can take heavier guns.  If you have the Reegar, for instance, you have high DPS to go with high tanking and it makes solos go pretty quickly.  For fun, I would prefer the Graal, but Disciple is also good if I want to play melee.  He has enough melee damage to one-slap most gold mooks if  you take the omniblade, at least in Rage.

Why do you take 5b in fitness? I never take 5b in fitness for a Vanguard. Seems rather redundant to me, plus you sacrifice a very large boost to melee.

Yeah you don't have to take that evolution.

It was partly because I run him like this for platinum solos and for some objectives it is better to have the shield recharge a little sooner when you can't charge.  And also because I saw that xcal ran his Battlemaster this way too. ;)

I tend only to use melee on low to mid tier mooks which take one backhand if I am running the omniblade.  But anyway if I wanted to go melee heavy then you are right, fitness 5a makes more sense.
