...this gun man. I just can't seem to figure it out. I don't understand it. It just doesn't seem to get the love it deserves!

It took a little bit of warming up to, but I have this thing where I feel obliged to learn to use my highest level URs, because I don't want those valuable slots go to waste. It's also a way to keep myself amused as I embark on that horrible final stretch of maxing the manifest - only the UR's remain...

As i said, it took me a while to warm up to it. Actually, what happened was I maxed my Saber and learned to use it (finally) on the Juggernaut, the easiest kit to learn a weapon's quirks on. So I got good with the Saber, then compared it to my close-behind Crusader VIII.

Damn, this weapon has some good things going for it.

- It has a DPS that is comparable to the Harrier, with a lot more spare ammo.

- It has innate penetration.

- It fires single slugs, so it's damage vs. armor is amazing compared to spread or full-auto weapons.

- Access to HVB and Omni-Blade

- No obligation towards Smart Choke

- Still useable weight (same as Claymore) at higher levels.

- Pinpoint accurate at any range.

- Awesome sound that makes headshots even more satisfying.

The only beefs with this weapon are that it has a steeper-than-average learning curve, and it likes Shotgun Amps.

This is a Crusader Appreciation thread. For those of you who have a hard time with this weapon, learn to use it on a class like the Juggernaut.

It is even better with reduced fire delay.

Or so I hear...

I don't like pin point crosshairs though, I would prefer some light in between them.

Ok man, are you familiar with the bug it bears inside?

If you want to twitch headshot (and you should, it can 1hsk any non-shielded and 2hsk any shielded mook inc. phantoms), esp. if you play on PC, you will have a problem, that 0,2 aim delay sucks.

Without dat delay the gun would have been amazing  , equally great at killing mooks and bosses, free choice of ammo and mods, dem decapitating headshots.

I'm a peaestree console scrub, so yeah.

Oh, I am well aware of that creepy delay. That's the learning curve I am referring to. However, it is massively overblown on these forums. Like I said, once I L2shootscrub'ed, this weapon became my baby.

Me and my baby love blowing everything out of the water. I actually surprise myself with how many Phantoms and Husks this thing sends flying, even at range.

It is a very nice gun indeed.  Having the ability to fight from longer range with a shotty when needed is great for people with generally poor shotgun aim like myself.

I agree about the shot delay; once you get used to it, you can make it sing. Having a shotgun with that kind of stopping power and more than 2 shots per reload is very under-appreciated, and I agree that these forums make it seems much worse than it truly is.

I do like this gun. However, it's far from my favorite shotgun. I use the Claymore, Wraith, Raider, GPS, Pirahna, and Reegar more often because I find them more enjoyable.  I have to use this gun on a class that has a stagger power because I'm a scrub who can't aim and needs as much help as possible. It does amazing damage to bosses and troopers alike, but then again so do all shotguns. This one does have the advantage of range, but then advantage is quickly negated by it's fiddly mechanics. Without a stun power it's usefulness goes way down.

The more you rely on twitch shooting, though, the less able you are to "get used to" the shot delay.

Claymore is Claymore, there is no denial there.

My Wraith is II :(

Raider is good, but I'm not a huge fan.

GPS isn't as good as it used to be cuz power creep.

I like Graal more than GPS.

Piranha is cool, but I like Crusader more.

Reegar is boring, and annoyingly close range. My close range kits go melee or bust, generally.

I think the most underestimated aspect of this gun is it's innate boss mowing ability. Unlike all the other high DPS weapons in the game, this weapon doesn't need specific mods and ammo's to do it. It retains almost all of its damage by firing slugs. The Harrier, Piranha, Hurrdurr etc. all need help vs. armor.

The Crusader lets you pick your weapon mods, and your ammo types.

Javelin's delay has a learning curve. As well as arc pistol's charge. As well as on-host kishock harpoon travel.

It's not the case with crusader.

1. At 30 FPS that's not so prominent, but I play at my monitor refresh rate (VSync) which is currently 75, man it's an extremely prominent, at higher FPS (I had a 120 hz monitor). Gun shot point-blank when twitch-shooting. It was extremely annoing. And the most stupid part of it - the gun is designed for longer ranges as well, the battle when twitch shooting means a lot and any "aim delay" costs too much. Yeah, stupid paradox, gun that would have been great for twitch headshots do not reward them.

2. I play on PC, I aim with my mouse. I love my guns to shoot where I aim.

Shooting on consoles and PC - two different words.

So please, guys, if you make it work on xbox and ps3 it's ok, PC is a different world, you can't imagine the impact of higher framerate on such things.

And L2Shoot comments regarding unfixed crusader.. they are funny.

Simply - shooting at moving target or/and while moving.

Its one of the best shotguns in the game, albeit a bit tricky to use given that it is unforgiving to those with bad aim.

imo the crusader massively out performs the BSN beloved claymore.

I like it on the SI along with the Scorpion.

I stack piercing mods and use Phasic ammo. ^_^

My Wraith is II :(

So?

Raider is good, but I'm not a huge fan.

Raider is amazing, but it's the exact opposite of the Crusader. It destroys up close, but can't anything from range (if it's not on the TSol). Doesn't surprise me that you don't care for it if you really enjoy the Crusader.

GPS isn't as good as it used to be cuz power creep.

Not sure I agree with this. It's still amazingly strong, applies ammo, doesn't need piercing, and you can charge/not charge at your leisure. I think it was used so much in the beginning of the game that it's underused now as a result of that. I rarely see it used not on a Geth, which is sad.

I like Graal more than GPS.

I'm not going to tell you that you're wrong for liking something more than another. Graal is awesome and is my go to shotgun on my Shaman.

Piranha is cool, but I like Crusader more.

Again, not going to tell you you're wrong for liking the Crusader more. Piranha is more of a caster shotgun but still wrecks on weapons platforms.

Reegar is boring, and annoyingly close range. My close range kits go melee or bust, generally.

Shotguns tend to be close range  :D  I tend to not hold that against a shotgun. Why  not go melee or melt the face in stead of melee or bust?  :D

The Crusader lets you pick your weapon mods, and your ammo types.

I agree, it's a tremendous gun for that, and I love it on my FQI Sticky Grenade build just for those reasons.

Oh my god, people...
 stahp the nonsense.

Javelin/widow and especially kishock (on host and no stagger ofc) are unforgiving to people with bad aim, as well as supressor pistol, as well as CTS-palladin.

Crusader (unfixed) doesn't reward good aim. It's actually almost opposite.

Does it shoot slugs of dark matter that cause pockets of anti-time and gravity to form? :)

Oh, you need to L2play and L2aim, use it with energy drain kit or stasis "sniper", cuz those kits indeed require aiming. Than came back and tell others how they need to L2aim...

Seriously though, when it actually hits heads the gun is damn awesome and is still far from brokenly op.

lol i dont think ive ever stasis sniped

eta: after some more thinking i know i did some bubble > pistol sniping back in the day, when my paladin felt weak and i was looking for a way to mess around in silver while i still struggled with gold. i gave up once i realized that cryo blast is better than bubble for that... qfe remains to this day my go to for points with either crappy pistols or shotguns... and the unfixed crusader is horrible on her!

This is my favorite Crusader Build.  I'm sure I've posted it many times in many Crusader threads.

I am maxing out the damage of Energy Drain so that you can strip any mook's shields in one shot.  This is critical, because if you're not one-shotting enemy shields, the effectiveness of the build goes way down.

You can then OSK most mooks with a single body shot.  Plus, Energy Drain and Proxy Mine both stagger reliably, which minimizes the effects of aim delay.  Finally, you should maximize penetration for wallhax and awesome double hits.

Note:  This build is optimized for Gold.  If you're playing Plat, you may need to use a gear that boosts tech damage and/or take R4b in passives to make sure you can still one-shot shields with ED.

I love the crusader

But maybe that's because I play on the PS3 where the entire Mass Effect universe is on a delay
