Bakara is an interesting character who doesn't get discussed all that much. What she's been through has (very understandably) affected her quite badly but it's played more subtley than most.
I don't buy the argumnent against Thane. There's a reason his chest is bare, Kepral's Syndrome. It's stated by Thane and the codex that he needs as much air and as little moisture around his chest and lungs (see his back) as possible. Also his outfit does have *some armor like shoulder/bicep guards and gauntlets. Not to mention his outfit allows for maximum speed and flexibility so it works perfectly for his offense.

Samara must have been in worse shape than Thane 
If the low cut neckline is supposed to let Thane breathe better then why are there buckles tightly strapped across the rest of his shirt.. How does that give him more air or flexibility 
That zipper going down the center front doesn't look any less constricting either. He should've just rolled shirtless then. Make up for all the times Miranda's white butt was shoved in my face
