She fights in armor, though, right?

I don't think the Ashley stuff is a big deal, really. I can understand the question of why do it at all, but having a character's hair down is pretty tame.

It obscures her face whenever the camera angle is on her left.

Why do artists go through so much trouble making lifelike faces, only to obscure them for no particular reason?

I actually have the same problem with the new Morrigan look for DAI

Bioware people act like kids most of the time, truly. I remember the over-sexualised female bingo post on tumblr that one of the artists? (I believe? either a concept artist or writer who works in Bioware) saying because people dislike the over done sexy outfits they'd do more just to spite the fans. It was ridiculous. Or how a concept artist defended a person for drawing Vivienne white because "If Orlais is like France, there shouldn't be any black people".  :pinched:

Or Maybe *big shock* there are a lot of people that like the "oversexualized" uniforms. Something people here seem to ignore. Maybe they're doing it because the fans want it, not to spite them.

On the "if males were made all sexy", well like you said, it's a huge fat "IF" because so far it's rarely happened and when it does men are beefed up while the women are made all hot (ehem ehem Kaidan and Ashley). The difference between Thane and Samara is that writers worked hard to make a reason for him to have a huge his chest open, and Samaras is just "sexy Asari". Besides, men really aren't as sexualised as women, imo.

So beefed up men can't be sexy or sexualized? Vega seems to have a huge female following and he's built like a tank.

Traynor probably watches robot hentai.  :P

The Hahne-Kedar chest plate is pretty good about this. I generally go for the Serrice Council chestplate though, partly because of continuity between my ME2 and 3 Shep, but also because it has a bit of a bonus toward biotics.

Love that chestpiece, combat practical and yet stylish.

I actually like vega because he's cool more than because he's buffed up.

This is how Samara's combat outfit should have looked like.

As for the sexualised outfits. I want outfits and clothes that makes sense for the characters to wear in context of the setting and their personality. A catsuit suits (haha, no pun intended) Miranda. But that weird-ass outfit for Ashley? It doesn't suit her personality (IMO, some might disagree) or the setting since that suit is not standard issue Alliance clothes. Samara is another one where I think the cleavage does not make a whole lot of sense for someone who apparently gets constantly into fights with heavily armed criminals and mercenary groups.

If I could keep her in armor on the Normandy, I would.

Heck, if I could tell Ashley to borrow a uniform from Traynor I would

Why? Who cares, when it's on the ship?

Ok so what about people that actually like the designs? What are your views on them? There are plenty of people like me that like them and they added to the overall enjoyment of the game. I liked Miranda's skintight outfits, especially the loyalty all-blue one. I really liked Samara's and the cleavage she shows off.

I also really liked ashley's look in ME3. Better hair style, bigger breasts, etc. None of that distracts from the type of people they are. Not for me at least

Hopefully the upcoming Mass Effect game(s) feature outfits similar.

I have nothing to say about people who like them? Good for you? I don't know what you want me to say, good job you like big boobs out in the open? Sexy outfits "adding a overall enjoyment" to a game made me shake my head but you're not the only one out there with those opinions. Far from it actually.

And don't worry, all Bioware has in mind with creating humanoid women are their sex appeal apparently so it'll be in any game they produce, tbh.

and I'm actually laughing if people thing men who are muscly are "sexualised" and I hope you're joking. It's men in the first place who started the "if you aren't buff you aren't a real man" stuff and Vega is covered fully 99% of the time. If you want exposed boobs then I want Anders not wearing a shirt because if I spec him in Elemental he must get hot under all that clothes. Or Vega going out on missions with crotch shots 99% of the time because Mirandas ass got more screentime than the character herself.

I mean, if Samara has her boobs out in the battle field then I want the option for Garrus to not wear pants when he is lousing around in the Normandy. He is always in armor.

If Ashley gets to have her hair down for more sex appeal then Kaidan should wear pants riding up his crotch and his hair down for the sex appeal.

Jack is almost naked top wise because she is fully covered in tattoos and Bioware wanted everyone to see that? Cool, I'm curious about Zaeeds tattoos but all the skin he gets to show is neck and a bit of his arm and he has the same reputation as Jack.

I really dare Bioware to put that gross belt strap as a top for Zaeed and them being 100% serious about it. Even AS a sexual appeal thing, that top for Jack is hideous, seriously.

I think Iakus' problem isn't so much that Ashley's outfit is over-sexualized(not really a word, but you get my point), but it's incongruous with her character that was portrayed in ME1 and possibly ME2. Ashely was characterized as a strong and independent women, a tomboy. Most tomboys that I know don't usually dress that way or have their hair down(there are always exceptions of course). Ashely didn't present herself as a girly girl or dress in a over-sexualized manner in ME1, and I think that's part of the reason why Iakus romanced her.

As an example, you didn't like what happened to Kasumi in ME3. In ME2, you had the dialogue option at the end of her loyalty mission to tell her to forget about the gray box and move on. Yet in ME3, that dialogue choice doesn't matter since she is still obsessed with it. I liked her character in ME2 myself, and I wasn't all that pleased with her character's progression into ME3(while it was still amusing, don't get me started with her "underwear escapade" at the citadel party).

Admittedly, that isn't the best example I could come up with. I was just trying to explain that Iakus' problem was more character development than anything else.

Careful, people will yell how over sexualised that is while demanding more Asari boobs.

Wut? She is not obsessed with it if you have it destroyed. Her dialogue changes completely. Instead of talking about Keiji and the greybox you get an inside joke about the Locust.

Because I don't buy a game to look at peoples junk. I mean, kudos if you like that, I just really don't. EDIs cameltoe haunts my dream to this day.  -_-

Ah, sorry, I should have added what Bioware wrote about Kaidan in comparison to Ashley.

Of course he can get more buff, but Ashley who is a frontline fighter, a Soldier arguably a more in-your-face class than Kaidans Adept, was turned into a completely different sexy-ified character. She was the one in the bar saying how "we're in the future but men still drool over half naked women". She's a military woman, she trained just as hard as Kaidan, more because she doesn't even have biotics. It's funny how the character saying how men drool over half naked women is the one to be made more sexy and letting her ~hair down.

It was just, compared to her counterpart, a joke really.

Honestly, I dunno why he got shafted with just Light Armor in 1. Sentinels are walking tanks for the most part which should have at least got him Medium Armor. Him getting buffed up more in 3 doesnt really bug me though. Then again, just about none of the outfits bug me much at all with the exception of Miranda's alt armor.

It obscures her face whenever the camera angle is on her left.

Morrigan's new look at least makes sense though. If you are going to be in Orlais and playing the Game, you might as well not give anyone more ammunition than you must. At least in the design for her dress, she still shows her own independent spirit seeing as she has flys as part of the design and sticks to her own tastes and sensibilities within reason for someone making themselves at home in the Orlesian Court.

I'll admit my assumption is based only on the ending slides. I haven't seen one where she isn't looking at the greybox. My assumption could be unjustified. It's just....bah nvm. Don't need to derail the thread.

Her obsession partially was because of the info that would have led towards the events of Arrival. Once that is knocked out, her only reason for keeping the bloody thing, was her attachment to Keiji which she never really got over

Honestly, I didn't even see the ****** on any of my play-throughs until someone mentioned it. My gaze doesn't typically go south of the border, especially on a robot(that's just creepy). Than again, it may exemplify my powers of observation,...or lack thereof.

What's Miranda's alt armour? The DLC one or the black version of her normal catsuit?

Indeed.

And in addition, that "uniform" doesn't even look like a uniform.  Not an Alliance one, anyway.  Nobody else wears it, male or female.  Not even Kaidan, which is essentially her counterpart.  It was sexying (it's a word!) her up for no other reason than sexiness.  Her personality and background didnt' factor into it.

The DLC, since the only legit armor she will ever get in 2. Though I still like her all black catsuit regardless of its silliness.
