Most of those spells would only work if the enemy is unarmored. Fire won't do much against a guy wearing full plate armor and a helmet.

Look at the description of that specialization. It's says "among the Circles of Magi", the name of the specialization itself is Knight Enchanter. It's clear that that specialization stems from mages from the Circles, why would the Saarebas or the Dalish Inquisitor have access to that from the get go?
for all we know dalish elv mages will have to circle mages like in origins, or someone teaches the specialization also like origins or you learn it from a book there multiple ways to learn it.
Don't see why not. A hard punch to the face can be lethal, why not a telekinetic blast? It's only in gameplay that people are rack-dolls that have no consequences from falling. If you have enough force to throws someone a few meters and it comes as a sudden hit it logically causes all sorts of concussion, might cause inner organ and bone shattering.
It's just a person in a tin-can, it doesn't take a lot of time to warm that up, not to mention that they won't be able to breath, or will be feeling their lungs with flame.
Mages are far from perfect, but what they undoubtedly are is better than mundanes. And yes.
Coming from a person who has tought boxing, a punch to the face is very rarely lethal, especially with protective equipment on. First you compare the scenario to Cod, now you compare a full suit of armor to a tin can...
Your bias is more than apparent in this, explain why even Tevinter disagrees with your perception of warriors then
The lore behind Arcane Warrior in DA:O is what made me fall in love with the game in the first place. That being said I do hope they go a different route with Knight Enchanter. I hope the class specific spells are more offensive based as opposed to the tank ones in Origins.

That's what I'm being led to believe. The description doesn't even talk about wearing armor. So maybe it's just wielding a blade with some sustains and shield spells (maybe aggro holding to pseudo tank?).
*snip video*
Well, considering the fire we were talking about was a very basic (basic = weak) fire spell, I do not seem to be disobeying the laws of thermodynamics.
You'd have to do something other than fling a tiny blast of flame to make Mr. Plate Metal catch on fire.
Knight enchanter is the most silly specialization for a mage to have. If I wanted to play a warrior I would play that instead.
No but given its a specialization only (and we can only have one), I highly doubt we will be locked out of using anything else.Do we even know you can still cast spells while using KE powers?

I don't know why Tevinter battle mages use mundane tools, it doesn't make sense to me, knowing that weight impairs spellcasting.
Have you always thought this way about all fantasy?
Or is this just some Dragon Age persona?
I don't remember this whole "mundane" idea being a "thing" until DA2. Now I'm up to my ears in mundanes vs mages. Like it's always been some conflict.

It doesnt make sense to YOU therefore you're right and they're wrong? Just because YOU cant see the benefits of warrior skills in a mage that alone concludes that it is pointless. Your own opinions and speculations again are used in place of facts when plenty of examples in game and in lore, tell us otherwise.
Just because armor takes energy does not deduce that it is pointless, thats like saying because armor makes someone fatigue faster, it becomes pointless. Fatigue is sacrifice that pays off just fine when you dont need to worry about one blow being fatal

Well rogues wear lighter armor right? Even though it offers less protection than plate, they don't wear plate because they have a particular method of fighting that requires agility and plate impairs them. Magic is also a particular way of fighting that is not supported by armor.
Rogues dont wear armor because speed allows them to get in and out of combat while dodging and delivering blows with precision.
Mages stay in one place while blasting their enemies while supporting their allies, they rarely need to move or expend stamina doing physical tasks. Their main weakness is being confronted by a warrior who can take them out in a single blow. That weakness is gone when you equip them with armor and since they dont move around much at all, fatigue doesnt set in nearly as fast, making it a non issue.

Why use haste when you can take the hit and spend that energy on killing them. You can't haste out of every bad situation, it's more practical to use armor. And yes mages do stay stationary most of the time, there's no need to move beyond an opponent coming towards them. No, mages don't stand in one place, they can actually move around very fast as well. It's the haste spell, that is so fast that it was even mistaken for teleportation. It's also a lot easier to use haste if you are not impaired by extra weight.
Call me crazy, but I think I may see how the different specializations work in game before I decide which one to give to my main.
A lot of times, the idea sounds as if it would be tremendous fun to play... but it winds up being kinda meh. Or at least that was the experience I had playing a shapeshifter in DAO and playing a blood mage in DA2. Not that there is anything wrong with playing shapeshifters or blood mages! It's just that those two specializations did not suit my individual playing style as well as some of the other choices.
No you can't. And if you can cast spells, I don't see the point in swords. You have the power at your fingertips to summon thunder storms to decimate armies, and you use that power to swing a sword - genius.
And?

Some of us like being force sensitive.

This is amusing. Someone described Cassandra as being Justinia's Darth Vader a few days ago in another thread.
If Cassandra has Templar/Seeker magic, the reference might be even more accurate.
