Walter White on Breaking Bad could have been black, so should they have told Bryan Cranston to hit the bricks so they could cast a black actor? After all, the character doesn't need to be white so according to you he shouldn't have been white.

If a black actor can do the job just as well, then why not? Bryan Cranston is an okay actor, not the only actor.

If you read the entire thing, then you understand that my focus is not purely on gay people, even though there are some female and black protagonists in media.

Clearly you are grasping at straws because again you have neglected to either

  1. recognize you were wrong
  2. cannot comprehend what I'm saying

Lol.

But if I said the exact same thing to you, I would be dismissed for being "antagonistic".

Classic.

I pretty much can't comprehend what you're saying, so I wouldn't be surprised if he can't, either. Racial minorities and women are under represented in media. Any person with thirty seconds and access to Google can discern this. What are you talking about?

You don't know my history, or anything about me, except that I play Bioware games.

If they could get a black actor who did the part just as well or even better than Cranston? Yes.

To be honest though, I'm pretty sure the show would've never gotten off the ground if they had a black actor because all anyone would ever see is "black dude makes drugs" and dumped the show right then and there b/c of what I said earlier about how white dudes are easier to relate to than PoC. People wanna know why a white teacher resorts to making drugs, but a black guy making drugs? Well, that's just what they do, right? Who wants to watch THAT? /sarcasm, rolls eyes

Dear God.

I specifically left out "white" and "male" in my statement because obviously it is a fact that there is an under-representation for those two groups. He insinuated I meant otherwise.

Honestly, folks, it is not that hard to grasp.

The Wire was similar to what you propose sarcastically, but never mind the prejudices of small minds that show was fantastic.

Actually I do, and I have seen your posts on here and the old forums to support that, Plaintiff. But I'll stop continuing to branch off somewhere else with this out of respect for OP.

No, my problem is that you told me I should leave out "white" and "male", because you apparently interpret my motivations as only caring about the gay demographic.

Nobody can discern anything meaningful about me from my post history, and it doesn't matter at all how far back you go.

Is it? I'm afraid I've never heard of The Wire. But if it's as good as you say it is, I'll look it up. :)

Good luck folks, this one is beyond getting through to and I have already wasted enough of my time. Have a good evening, everyone.

While I'm sure we'd see a lot of people complain throughout Tumblr that the show is incredibly racist and should be taken off air for it's offensive stereotyping, people digged The Wire.

It's obvious that gays are under represented, too, so why are you saying anything?

You are not a reasonable person. A reasonable discussion cannot be had if you're involved. Bryan Cranston is overwhelmingly regarded as one of the best actors ever on television but you say he's just "okay" because you would rather argue that the race of the character is more important than the actual delivery. You are a cartoon character.

I don't waste time trying to be reasonable with racists and homophobes.

Lol.

"You think Bryan Cranston is only "okay", so you're not a reasonable person."

"You're not a reasonable person, so your opinion on Bryan Cranston doesn't matter."

Let's see how many turns we can take on this merry-go-round.

Also, I never said that  the race of the character is important. That's literally the exact opposite of everything I've ever said. My entre prmise for advocating equality is based on the premise that race, gender and sexuality don't matter, and so therefore, there's no good reason for excluding characters on that basis.

How is this difficult to understand?

I don't think that's true. I've seen a few people here who have never done what most would consider 'antagonistic'.

Maybe everyone should just stop with the ad hominem and address the actual topic. The "antagonism" argument is circular. If you don't want to be antagonized, maybe make the first step and just put the person on ignore instead of escalating the situation with your own brand of antagonism.

I would rather the marketing shows off the features of the game. Showing off things like the character creator/combat system/dialogue system is in my opinion better than catering to an audience(Before I am chastised for this by audience I mean everyone, white,black,gay,e.t.c). At the end of the day the marketing is supposed o advertise the product and what the product can do. Not to mention this is software and marketing of software has features taking the highest priority. However if they can do it and have time to do it then sure but I would rather the marketing team takes a priority to showing features.

I posit that you don't notice, because they aren't antagonising you, specifically.

Whether or not something is "antagonising" is entirely up to the person who decides to be antagonised.

I see every argument against the inclusion of minorities as antagonising. And why shouldn't I? Why should I not be antagonised by the notion that I don't deserve representation?
