So, we know about Bioware's default warden; do we know anything about their default Hawke?

A thought occurs to me; we know Bioware's going with female dalish  who performed the ultimate sacrifice as their default warden, but do we know anything about their default Hawke?

Male or female? Mage, or rogue or warrior? Sided with the mages or the templars at the end?

The trailers for DA2 would suggest male mage, but then, the trailers for Origins suggested a human male warrior, so I don't know how much weight we should give that.

I'm not surprised about mage, but I'm actually more interested in male or female.

It's funny that Gaider has expressed interest in writing a comic for Bethany (post Circle, possibly with Sebastian), but if their canon is a mage Hawke, then Bethany doesn't exist.

Would have been funny to have Mage, side with Templars.

I rather liked that playthrough. That would be the Hawke so sick of other mages' incompetence that he/she wants to punish them. An unknown apostate from Ferelden, and yet doesn't lose their composure or discipline like any other mage.

Male seems like the obvious bet, considering the guy on the box.  And the Martyr background had a female Dalish, so that could balance out nicely

I dislike the guy on the box, but you're probably right.

Lady Hawke grew on me. So that will be my "canon".

'Tis a shame he'd do a comic with Bethany. I like Carver a lot better but I can't deny Bethany is adorable around Sebastian.

And I'm pretty sure the default mage Hawke is male. Garrett Hawke's default look is pretty iconic.

On paper and image wise, mage Hawke seems really cool.. but in-game, I feel compelled to experience things differently. My warrior or rogue Hawkes feel more natural in that world, while the threat of Templars is made more real with Bethany's capture (unlike mage Hawke, who never experiences that). Not to mention Ander's slowly developing fear and madness. It seems like other mages make the game more complete on that angle. Not my own mage. I'm always the outsider.

I think their default is "trailer Hawke"

Default preset, romanced Isabela and sided with mages.

More interested in what happened to Carver and Anders.

Anders and Carver are probably dead.  The defaults are for new players, and thus tend to minimise loose ends and cameos by characters the player wouldn't be familiar with.

I think the romance with Isabela might be stretching it. I think it's just marketing.

In their comics, Isabela is already wandering off with Varric and Alistair of all people. This is different than a romance Isabela epilogue. Not to mention she's just wearing her normal armor and admits to more of her story about the slaves... something she didn't even tell Hawke. Shows how much she trusted him. lol

I think you shouldn't pay attention, it's just ridiculous marketing focused on dudes only.

My canon Hawke is Marian, Mage and romanced Isabela.

Indeed, which means that neither Fenris nor Isabela have been recruited because both are optional.

Isabela can still know Varric because she spent most of her time in the Hangman just like Varric.

The marketing department is seperate and has absolutly nothing to do with the writing or whatever.

I think the comic is suppose to be more of a spin-off and not like the Silent Grove comics.

Fair enough. Not sure what that means though.

It'd be interesting if Isabela and the marketing was taken into account. They didn't go that far even with Shepard and Liara.

I'm not so sure. If that was the case then Loghain and Nathaniel should have been dead too.

As in, a side adventure that he just wanted to write but is not canon. Sort off like... fanfiction!

Ah OK. Maybe that's what he meant by a Bethany comic then..whilst keeping the preferred "mage Hawke" world state in tact.

We don't exactly, but if the Dalish Warden of DAI is anything like the "Martyr" preset from DA2, then Loghain and Nathaniel are very much alive.

They're alive in the Martyr pre-built history in DA2, which seems like it may be the basis for the default.

Though it be different for DA:I - the 3 pre-built histories were presumably designed to allow players to see a variety of outcomes, which in DA:I will be achieved via the Keep.

Is it? Mark Darrah says Alistair is king, but doesn't say Anora is queen, but the Martyr preset has them ruling together. Did he just forget to mention Anora, or is Alistair solo king in the default?
