So, we know about Bioware's default warden; do we know anything about their default Hawke?

I think I read somewhere that canon warden is Female Dalish who did the ultimate sacrifice and a male Mage Hawke who romanced Merrill because of the Eluvian storyline.

I'd love confirmation on the Merrill thing. It makes more sense to me than Isabela at least.

I don't like the romance myself though. She feels like a little sister or Bethany replacement...except one who converses with demons.

Bioware defaults never have a romance. Not Mass Effect 2 or 3, not in Dragon Age 2. The defaults aren't canon, they are not for you. Really, you shouldn't even care about the default. The default is for newcomers, who won't care who the previous protganist slept with, so no romances.

No they don't have set romances, at least as far as we know. I think Gaider mentioned the "Bioware default" followed that of the Martyr in a blog post. There has never been a mention of Anora in the comics or books, but that doesn't mean she doesn't exist.

I think the comic is suppose to be more of a spin-off and not like the Silent Grove comics.

I read his tumblr and it was an answer to a question about the comics, like if he could write another DA comic about whatever he wanted without considering canon, what would he do? And he answer was the Bethany and Sebastian comic idea, I'm not sure if there were more.

So we'll probably won't see it, pity, because I like Bethany a lot, though I'm glad because I don't want her to end with Sebastian.

Why not? I think they are perfect for each other ^_^

Considering we get the hand tailor previous events to our liking, isn't the "default Warden/Hawke" entirely irrelevant?

Unless someone does not use the Keep, then they can just start playing.

Plus its used for all their novels and comics.

Is that even confrimed they will be using it for novels and comics?

What DG said:

We have a default canon, which applies if you import nothing. So if someone comes to DAI with no import of previous games, they get a certain set of previous decisions being presumed-- and those tend to be ones that don't promise future content. The Warden of DAO is dead, because why would someone who's importing no save (and is possibly a brand new player) care about their Warden still being alive and involved in the plot? There is no OGB, because why would that person care about Morrigan having a child from some game they possibly never even played?

As for things which don't involve future content, like the sex and race of the Warden, yes-- those we just decided on at some point. So the default Warden who died was a female Dalish elf.

A default should not concern you in the slightest, however, if you intend on importing-- which I assume everyone who's hanging around on these forums a year before release likely is. How we'll do that importing is the subject of a future reveal, it's true, but I'm uncertain why a fan would be concerned about the default settings of a version of the story they'll never use.

That would mean anyone that can die is probably going to be dead on default. That would be a problem with the comics/novels wouldn't it? DG likes to bring back characters who can be dead in his novels and comics.

I hope i can kill Hawke in Inquisition. Then i want to siege Kirkwall and split in half Fenris and Anders. For the others i will let it slide. Except for Aveline i will beat her ass too.

The novels and comics use an arbitrary Warden and Hawke. They try to refer to them as little as possible, so that as many as possible Wardens and Hawkes fit into the background of the story. There is no "official canon" for the game. So no, the Martyr Warden and Mage supporting Hawke are NOT the ones used in all the novels and comics.
