I want him to appear however he left off in whatever playthrough I'm on....which I have as king, dead, grey warden, and drunk.

I look most forward to seeing him as king, since that's the one where my Warden was his mistress, and thus is the most meaningful to me.

I played as Male human I romanced morrigan and didn't marry Anora (Alistair roles alone) you think it's good ?

Well as a king and considering how long it's been. if you DIDN'T marry him or Anora. I would think he would shacked up with some Nobel at that point if nothing but the sake of having an heir. Considering how much time he would hav left before the Calling I'm going to guess that the Future of the Therin Line may be at stake if Alistair isn't shacked up.

I wish that whatever choice I made for Alistair has an effect. In my DA world, he is king, married with Anora and has a (hopefully still ongoing) relationship with my warden. So, he should still be king in DA:I.

My biggest fear is that they make him fugly... who modded him in DA2?  *raises hand*

Yes, I am a little bit worried about that myself. In DA II Anora must have fed him too much cheese  ...

Alistair's not a "bro". Not universally or anything. This isn't an action adventure game where we're all clones and have the same exact experience. Not every origin is the same, not everyone has the same morals, not everyone enjoys joining the Wardens like he does, and not everyone wants to comfort him about Duncan every other dialogue. Some might not even care about Duncan to begin with.

As for Loghain being a mongrel, as far as I know, he's just a Ferelden. If anything, Alistair has a better chance of being one. I keep hearing that Fiona might be his real mother. Not that it matters. I happen to be a "mongrel" myself. Heh. Just saying. Being half elf would be the definition of mongrel.

I'd like for you to point out exactly where I said that my own DA experience was everyone else's, too.  I suppose you could construe that I was attempting to speak for everyone by not peppering my statements with "Personally speaking" and "In my opinion" -- but I had hoped that any sensible person would still know that I was just voicing my opinion.

Although I get the distinct feeling that you knew what I meant, and you're only blasting me because I have a differing opinion than yours -- if what I had written had been anti-Alistair, pro-Loghain, I'd have been spared your snide implied accusations of asserting that my own game canon was the correct canon.  Heck, you may have even given me a Like.

And I'm serious about the dog. The fact that my mabari bonds with Loghain and Morrigan more says a lot.

Since the dog can bond with Dwarven Wardens and even the most human-hating Dalish you can create, more than Alistair's loyalties, I would doubt the dog's ;)

Staying on topic, some food for thought: if Alistair appears as a Warden, there may be the possibility of the Inquisitor having to fight him, if we do end up facing the Grey Wardens. The same could happen with Loghain.

Interesting, could also be Carver/Bethany or Stroud... it will certainly be interesting to find out what the situation is with the Wardens, is it all of them, or are they split?  What caused it etc..

If that were the case though, I'll be very glad that he's king...

I would like to see both options in game depending on the choices you made in DAO. I have two favorites playthroughs, one where Alistair is king with my warden as queen and other where he remains a warden. I would like to see the outcome of both choices.

We are also taking keeps in Ferelden, at least one. Depending on the way we get it, the Inquisitor may end up fighting King Alistair too. Then in the Drunk Alistair import, there will be a bar brawl :P

Seriously though, it was just an idea. The opposite can happen too: Warden Alistair may be one of the few sensible Wardens that help us, King Alistair may be the only ruler who supports us willingly from the start, and Drunk Alistair can be the Conrad Verner of DA:I. Who knows.

I'm not blasting you. I addressed you at first, but to be clear, I'm just going on my own tangent. That post is more generally directed. I just don't like the idea that I should get in line with loving the flagship characters and such. I've seen statements like yours before, so I got defensive. Sorry. If anything, Shale and Oghren are "bros" for me (sis and bro to be exact). When I first played, Alistair was OK, but you have to love the Wardens to love Alistair... and that started wearing on me after awhile. There's really no reason to see him as a "bro" once you lose interest in the Wardens.

He was a bro at times, completely annoying other times. For being a 'Grey' warden he was a dudley do-right that balked at dark decisions.. and you couldn't argue with him because the game pretty much always provided you with a 'better way.'

Hardened he was a lot less of a pain in the ass and in Awakening seemed to have somewhat gotten over the fact that I let Loghain live. His cameos in DA2 made me cringe however, I really don't want to see him popping up constantly for the purposes of fanwank and fanservice. When's his calling due?

I really disagree. I don't see any connection between I <3 Wardens and liking Alistair. Sure, he <3 Wardens, but that's not really something he pushes on you - Wynne does that far more than he does, really.

Mind you, I'm talking about the "bro" aspect. I think that rests on your opinion of the Wardens.

If you romance him, that's a whole other hook to care about him.

I am talking about the bro aspect. I don't see any basis for the GW link for linking Alistair. I loathe the GWs, personally, but I don't see how that's a roadblock to considering him a bro. He's a somewhat quirky, naive guy.

Fair enough. I don't find anything else of substance to him besides the GW (it's just that I don't like it). His behavior isn't enough to win me over. Unlike, say, Oghren. He doesn't have much substance either, but I think he's hilarious.

See, I actively hate Oghren. The only reason I don't boot him out of the party is that he can kill things, and it's stupid to turn down help in an apocalypse. But I think he's basically an intolerable troglodyte.

Alistair is King in all playthrus of mine.

Loghain is dead in all my playthrus.

Anora never gets to be queen with Alistair.

5 Wardens:

Elyndra , Human Warrior, is his queen, likely at least tried to get Morrigan's help with her own child

Solena, Human Mage, is his Mistress and at least was Chancellor.  Unknown if that will continue

Neria, Elf Mage, is his mistress and at least was Chancellor.

Kalliana, Elf Rogue, Didn't trust Morrigan and sent her off.  She sacrificed herself to kill the Archdemon

Theron, Elf Rogue (Dalish Hunter Rogue  Archer Spec) Remained with the Wardens.

Yeah. Absolutely.

Here's the funny thing. I like Oghren so much that I kicked him out of DAA, because I wouldn't let someone be a Warden unless a worse fate was waiting for someone.

edit: That probably makes me a lousy commander, I guess.

Anyway, Alistair would be a Grey Warden in my canon universe.  Although my canon Warden was a bit leery of Anora, he felt that there was no other option -- Alistair didn't want to be king, so that was that.

This. I even hate hardening him. I always wondered why woudl the writers include such an option. For me, he doesn't want to be king, end of it

Such an unfortunate name for that.
