The alistair in my game was a drunk in da2 and im more interested to see what happens to him next than king or warden.

I always made him King, except when my Cousland became king himself

Anyhow, I just really hope that the god awful look they gave Alistair in DA2 will never return.

If he is dead you shouldn't see him. Just import your canon and don't go with the default.

I think when it comes down to it, it really is a Loghain vs Alistair thing.

I, too, prefer Loghain to Alistair. Loghain's appearance in Awakening (if you played your cards right) is awesome and rewarding.

Does it involve a group of elven Ferelden citizens beating him savagely?  Other than that, I'm not really interested in seeing him again.

 

I'm also not that interested in seeing Alistair again if he's just going to spout catchphrases in a cameo, for what it's worth.

Most of my playthroughs Alistair is hardened and married to Anora. In maybe half of those, Loghain is alive.

 

I also have two or three where he's still a Warden. And one where he's a drunk, not overly fond of that playthrough but I wanted to see the results. I don't have any playthroughs where Anora isn't on the throne, since I like her too much to let her drop off the face of Thedas.

Loghain's death is mandatory with the human noble, IMO. His hands are stained with the blood of your family.

Disagree, howe's is the one with direct blood on his hands(coupled father cousland for being a fool). I've done a noble run where the warden has mentally amalgamated the 2 betrayals(cousland and ostagar) and killed them both but I've equally done and preferred the one where Howe died, noble married Anora and her father joined wardens.

I actually liked Grey Warden Alistair's appearance best in DA2, but that's probably because the Grey Warden theme was playing in the background and I got all misty-eyed. I really would like to see a confident and competent King Alistair in DAI from an import where my Warden hardened him. I'd also like to see Anora again. Most of my hardened King Alistairs are married to her.

Both, since my Warden is married to him in my favoured playthrough with him as King, and alive where he pops up as a Warden being my number 2, I always look forward to the mention.  Yes, I'm one of those who is hopelessly attached to my Warden... 

 

I never really wanted to see Morrigan again since I can't stand her, but I don't really have a choice in that...

what are the chances we will get disapprove points from her even if shes not a team mate this time round?

I don't want to see him again, but I don't think he needs to die either. He just doesn't have anything to offer to me except trying to be cute and deflecting everything with humor. I don't see what's so cool with that, unless you're a niche audience.. like a female romancing him. For anyone else, he comes off pretty weak. If I want him happy, I might stick him with the Wardens. He likes them more than I do. I hate the Wardens.

Replace everything in this post to be about Morrigan and that's how this niche female gamer who enjoys romance subplots feels.
The first time I played Origins, I had to let my man make a baby with that woman so we could both survive! That particular Warden had a good heart and had befriended Morrigan, so she forgave her, but I could never get over it.

I have a save where Alistair is King, a save where he stayed with the Wardens and a save where he was executed so the Warden could be King. I'm equally excited to see how his fate factors into Inquisition across all three saves, though I'm not expecting too much.
