Maker bless you. This is a great thread, thank you.
I just felt the need to express this.

Aww. I was hoping they'd try and run alongside you like they do in Skyrim (or try to. Stupid ai...)
Great thread, should be stickied right away!
I always feel like such a ****** for riding mounts with companions in Skyrim, at least, I did, until I got myself a mod which gives them their own mount...
Really nice addition, looking forward daily.

I don't know about "daily". It depends when new information is revealed. ![]()
I'll try to find the link, but about a year ago someone on the BSN asked about Maevevris appearing in DA3. David Gaider said he loved the character, and would love for her to appear, but by the time she was created it was too late for Mae to appear in DA3. He has said she has more story left to tell, however... Maybe DLC?
Found it: http://dgaider.tumbl...nfession-i-dont
They already stated there would be no companion DLC

Not every character has to be a companion. Giving her a prominent role in story DLC should be possible. Of course, there's also the possibility of temporary companion status in DLC.

When I said DLC, I was referring to full missions and areas, DLC such as Awakening, Legacy, or Mark of the Assassin.
Not simple "companion DLC" like Stone Prisoner and Exiled Prince.

Exactly. She may be a major character without being a companion. Or she may be a temporary companion (like Tallis). Or she may be a full-on companion in a full expansion (like Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening).
... Or she may just appear in a future comic or novel. Who knows?
Needs a section about how it's a one-time validation and doesn't require always-online http://forum.bioware.../#entry16512751
(I know it was just based on what gamefly erroneously said, but it's still handy to put up there)

A good point. It may be a point of confusion for people, so best to clear it up. Thanks.
Wait, companions "disappear" when we use a mount?
That's...kind of lame. I won't be using mounts then.
Thank you!
I can't wait for this game!
This is awesome, thanks a whole bunch.
It might be worth adding that the release date is the 7th for US but it's the 10th for the UK, NZ and AUS.
people down here get pretty angry at game stores when they show up on our 7th and they can't have the game.
Mounts
We will have the option to ride horses. When you mount up, your companions sort of "dissapear".
Hmm. I think my Inquisitor will be mostly walking in this case. Of course I was likely going to do that anyway, just to make me feel as though it matches up with the last 2 games. I'm weird like that.

Alas !
is it worth adding a bit about the pre-order bonus' for the standard and deluxe edition?
This is a great thread, thank you!
Thank you! This will be handy.
Yeah, the companions disappear when you mount is a weird one. Wait.. does that mean that mounts are summons? Cause that would be kind of weird as well.
So far this aspect and the multiplayer are the only two reveals that I'm skeptical about. Why does it need a multiplayer? It's always a weird feeling.. a story-driven epic RPG, or epic anything adding a multiplayer.. when AC did it, when Mass Effect did it... when Elder Scrolls went full MMO... it feels sooo weird, every time.
The "great disappearing companion trick" is not how i'd like follower mounts to be handled, but I'm sure I'll get over it.
great voice actor, but I pray Loghain remains in his grave. Hopefully he is playing a new characterMike Laidlaw or someone confirmed on Twitter that Simon Templeman (Loghain's VA) is doing some work for DAI.
Very nice post, thanks.
One small correction, if i may. About Knight Enchanter, it's not actually magic weapons and armor, it's magic weapons, heavy armor since it's free for all, and protective magics, which i have no idea what they mean. KE reminds me of how Battle Clerics in D&D were referred to. Armorclad, leading an army to the enemy ranks.
About the companions disappearing when you mount, wouldn't it be better if they mounted up as well? I mean, it's kinda weird having them vanish. But oh well. Will make me consider not mounting at all ![]()

Hey Maclimes or anyone really, do you have a source for this? I've never heard of it before.
Maybe some developer clarification *sacrifices puppies to the BioWare Gods*
