I've just gotten back into Dragon Age and have all the DLC this time!  I have played through Redcliff Village, then I played The Stone Prisoner.  But I am not sure about the others.  Especially Witch Hunt.  Should I play that before or after Awakening?  And does it matter when I play the others?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Witch Hunt is something of a climax, so I'd generally recommend saving it for last. Golems is a relatively light dungeon crawl mainly made by its difficulty. Ideally, play it after Awakening but before Witch Hunt -- but don't feel too pressured to play it if you want to skip and aren't a fan of DA's combat.

As for the in-game DLC: Return to Ostagar can be changed drastically by a choice you make before the final battle, so you may want to wait until then. Try to do The Stone Prisoner fairly early on for Shale (moot point, of course, you've already done it).

I believe the after-game DLC is intended to be played as Awakening > Golems > Witch Hunt for the story to progress more naturally.  At least, that's the order I played.  Awakening is 6 months after Origins, Witch Hunt is a year, and I think Golems is supposed to take place sometime between those two.

As for the in-game DLC; I usually play The Stone Prisoner right after Lothering, though you've already finished that.  Soldier's Peak I save for after I finish one of the factions.  That way they have a base of operations.  And like Lavaeolus said, Return to Ostagar is best saved before the final battle.  It also gives a nice sense of closure before throwing yourself into battle.

Thanks so much!  That helps a lot.  I hate to make the story incoherrent by playing these too early!

For what it is worth, I like to do Soldier's Peak right after the Stone Prisoner and Lothering. Shale has a funny line at the castle and free storage chest as well as a star metal sword!

Aside from what the others said, if you're considering importing your saves to DA2 and on, Awakening has to be played next before the other DLCs. IOWs, you cannot play WH, then try to import that into Awakening. So if you want the data to carry-over into DA2 then to DA:I, it goes like this, Origins>Awakening>GoA>WH into DA2. I don't think anything you do in GoA or WH carries into DA2, but I am unsure. AS far as just playing through it, I preferred doing TSP, then SP before Lothering gets lost to the blight.

Ok great.  I do plan to do Dragon Age 2 after all this, so that is the order I will follow.  Thanks!!
