Over the last few days of watching people play this game and listening to what they had discovered. i feel that bioware took out not a little but all the rpg aspects and they took out most of the Customization. Your squad mates can no longer wear armor, they have 1 outfit (and 1 unlockable recolor of it). There are no new character creator options, no new hairs or scars, which was one of the most often complained about parts of ME1. They also completely removed the inventory (didn't improve it, they removed it.).

They removed these things, and instead added in more hours of tedius mining for minerals on planets.

The funny thing is Casey said that they were reading fan feedback from several boards. Were they even paying attention? The things that were complained about the most did not get fixed (hello, GIRAFFE NECK), yet the things that no one had any problems with were removed. I've still got four days left, but I might just cancel my preorder. Adding to the minor frustrations in the game mechanics is the fact that F/F romance options have been shafted. It makes no sense to me why they made an intentional decision like this that ended up screwing over so many people. Oh, but at least the straight male players get what they want at the expense of everyone else, right?

All i wanted for christmas was a dang F/f romance with samara not a stupid lizardPosted Image

Actually, a lot of people complained about the mako, uncharted planets, combat, and such. Which was fixed. Most of the things that were changed I have seen complained about before. As for the giraffe neck and other details still in game, well, can't change everything.
So far from what I've been reading, I approve of all the changes. I love RPGs, but I don't like games being forced into a genre when they could be their own thing.

Edit: Also, "straight males get what they want at the expense of everyone else"? With all the LOVE threads, it looked like Thane was approved of for the most part, and many are waiting for Garrus. So, straight women, too? Bah, grouping people together is not my thing, have fun jumping to conclusions.

Samara's not a chick. I thought we all knew that by now.

Long necks are considered attractive by some. If your going to let that stop you buying the game then...

Most people are pretty pleased. Just consider this: you haven't played the game yet.

The customization is a billion times greater for Shepard but absent for your party members.....look at that...you get party members that you have to treat like adults not braindead children who can't dress themselves.

Now go cry me a river.

Wait... no new hair options?

How do you know that? All I even saw about the character creator was a few seconds from the German video, and it didn't explore the character creator in depth.

Can't find my head-desk-pic, dammit.

Complain about the game once you actually played it. This is tiresome.

It was never meant to be pure-RPG, anyway; from the beginning, there were already detractors to the "overly shooter-style" combat. Clearly it wasn't shooter-like enough.

Somewhat agree over lack of character customization options. Not a big deal for me, though.

The inventory system was terrible in ME1, but sheer number of items does not make a good RPG. You still improve your character through equipment upgrades, etc. Your squadmates, however, wear whatever they want, since this is more of a ragtag paramilitary squad than the more professional troops in the first one. They look more unique, and am therefore for the change. But I do see the annoyance at not being able to modify your squad as you see fit.

The lack of F/F romance option is unfortunate, but their story, their writers, their romances. You still get the pleasure of playing through a sci-fi story with plenty of choice as to how the story unfolds. They gave us quite a game to play; asking to have it tailored to suit your precise needs may be asking just a little too much, IMHO.

someone is a bit anal about this stuff. I think it will be good. I feel that taking armor away from the other squadies sucks too, but all in all I feel pretty good about the 26th

hehehehehehe....... anal

Err, technically those garrus love things are the "vocal majority," but it's what BW has to work with.

Yep I'm happy with Garrus and Tali. Love all around.
I'm sure once you actually play ME2, you'll love it. You shouldn't pass judgements so quickly. Also, there is a lot of great stuff if you actually watch the touring videos. The videos of the normandy and of the customization is great in my opinion.
