So we know that each piece of armour the party members wear changes appearance according to their individual style, but I was wondering if this also applied to the Inquisitor, more specifically, to the Inquisitor's race?

And if so:

What are the chances the majority of armour sets worn by an Elf!Quisitor involves walking around barefoot?

What are the chances the majority of armour sets worn by a Qun!Quisitor involves bare chests and body paint?

Well obviously the size and shape will be different. I assume that they will have to do something interesting with helmets on qunari for obvious reasons. I doubt the elf armors will all be barefoot though, maybe specific armours designed for elves will be like a keeper outfit.

Solas doesn't look like he has bare feet.

In theory they could do this since presumably they have to change the armour model anyway for each race (since the mesh has to be a bit different and things have to be streched out etc.) and I agree that it would be a nice feature, but in the end I'm indifferent.

... Other than the lack of shoes for elves. That was ridiculous in DA:O and I hope it changes for DA:I.

Kind of, yeah. I don't know if that's just an idea or if something like this is being implemented in the finished game. I hope so, it'll be a nice little feature, I think. And I do wonder if Qun!Quisitor's armour style is going to be mostly bare chests and body paint. Maybe that could be like the kaddis worn by the Dog in DA:O?

I can imagine it now: "The Armour of Awesomeness!"

Human Version: Plate Armour.

Dwarf Version: Same, but chunkier.

Elf Version: Slim and slender, notably lacking footwear.

Qunari Version: A big red middle finger painted on chest.

I'd find it kind of annoying, I might not want to be stereotypical.

Just stick to the starting outfit

I would love a Dalish to be distinguished from my human characters. The armor shown in trailers is cool, but I'd like something like the above pic.

There is the weapon and armor customization thing to consider too. Maybe depending on your race, you get unique options in that area.

Id like to be able to choose a specific style not just one based on your race. So like elves could choose a dalish/bare feet style or have their gear look more humany like city elves.

While I want my Qunari to wear race specific armour I want it to be practical and ensure it offers some actual protection. I do not want to go into battle with nothing more than warpaint, pants and some shoulder armour. Some actual full set of armour please that makes us look like a bad ass.

Well, Tallis had pretty good armor for that and she was Qunari.

Oh yeah forgot about her. From what I'be seen in the concept art the Qunari Inquisitor looks awesome. Imposing with black and red? This satisfies the demand of the Qun.

Because they'd all point and laugh.

Hell, not even that one Ash warrior at Ostagar can take our elves seriously as it is, even wearing armor.

Yes, I support freedom for my Elf's feet!

That concept art is great, no way my Dalish would wear shemlen armour.

You know.. a bit trivia here.. but people make fun of elves not wearing shoes. There might be some benefit to that.

There's a whole tribe here in the states.. the Tarahumara Indians.. who have a whole culture surrounding running/jogging. They put even professional marathoners in awe. A whole culture that run for hundreds of miles. But they also often do it barefooted (sometimes sandals). Scientists have studied this, and say the barefootedness might be key to their endurance (that and the corn based beer they drink). That shoes might be more of an hindrance than we thought. link

Anyways....

Yeah I always thought that for the Dalish it made sense not to wear shoes. Maybe City Elves not so much.

Can't offer too much flexibility on customization. Bioware's needs to sell their class item bonus packs;)

I hope the DLC armors are also customizable.

What about adaptive type armour like you get in SWTOR? You can find a look that you like (would love to make a rogue fencer with the swashbuckler type hat in the one screenshot) and then add runes to it to give it the stats you need for your class?

I honestly don't think the armors will change based on our race. The previous version of the Inquisitor's canoni armour (shown in the first part of PAX) was the same for every race, since it's the same armour shown in the GI coverage with the bust of every Inquisitor race-sex combo.
I'd be annoyed if I was forced to go barefoot with my elf. If one wants to to barefoot, they can remove the boots.
I don't think every/the majority of the armours will change based on the race. It's more likely that there'll be different armour sets that fit what you want to use.
Plus, so far the elves that appeared in-game wear shoes/boots.

I think all armors will start as a universal set, but then you can customize it based on your race.

We are able to increase their stats I believe.

That would be great.
