While I want my Qunari to wear race specific armour I want it to be practical and ensure it offers some actual protection. I do not want to go into battle with nothing more than warpaint, pants and some shoulder armour. Some actual full set of armour please that makes us look like a bad ass.

I dont consider the DA 2 armor to be a their canon armor. I feel like it will be changed, they went from massive armor in DA:O to only using shoulder pads, with practical outfits being the design they seem to be going for throughout the armor pieces, i feel like the qunari armor has probably been redesigned

They had the DA2 armor in the comics as well.

That really doesnt prove anything though, the artist took the designs from the game and used it in the comic. Designs used in that comic dont reflect what we'll see in DA:I

We know companions will have specific style armors...I could see the different races having different styles, but maybe not.

At the very least, the Qunari would have to have a different helmet to account for the horns.

A dalish not wearing boots makes sense to me btw, according to the lore they don't wear shoes.  You aren't playing a city elf, you are a dalish...dalish don't wear shoes.

Still worst news of Dragon Age: Inquisition.  :crying:

Were was it stated that dalish don't wear shoes? Both dalish and CE didn't in DA2. Did TME mentioned it?
I couldn't care less about the lore in this case. My Inquisitor isn't with the dalish now. Give be player the freedom to choose what they want.
The qunari helmet thing is the only one I'm sure it'll happen because it's necessary.
For every race of the PC to have a different version of the same armour it means that there'll be less armours. I'd rather have more, different and customizable armours that the player can choose than fewer armour with a different design for every race.

I love playing as a city elf as well.  For what it's worth, if the plot will support it I have considered headcanoning that my Dalish Inquisitor, separated (I assume) from his clan yet always openminded, mourns but finds his place with his kin in the cities...becoming a city elf as well, in his heart and mind.  Likewise, I have seen others here suggest we could perhaps imagine our Dalish PCs as runaways from the alienages?

That is what I am toying with, at least, if it is possible to do :)  And maybe city elf will be available again in future games?

I think the backgrounds might be detailed enough to block a part of the headcanons. I think that in the dalish's case we might meet our clan and know our backstory.

Also, not wearing boots in the forest? That does not make sense. My advice? Go out in a forest and walk around bare-foot for a while. It's not even remotely pleasant. Even if your feet became incredibly calloused, it would still not be so great.

I hope we can.  It would be great to have that kind of reactivity and detail  :)  I understand that different groups will, as in DA:O, recognize different races as a part of them (such as Dalish clans and the Dalish Inquisitor), so meeting back up with our own clan does seem likely.  It seems like the needs of the Inquisition would naturally draw you away from them quite a bit, however (to some, that alone might potentially make you no longer "truly" Dalish, I suppose...?).  If I can emote a growing city consciousness in my Inquisitor over time, in some way, that will be great.  If not, that is fine as well...I'm very interested to see the possibilities here for all the races either way.
