Would he have been a good squadmate?  Don't know if it says in game why TiM was trying to recruit him.

He wasn't necessarily seen as a "squad mate" but rather as someone who was rumored to have dealt with the Collectors and might have acquired some of their tech. Since he was a warlord, I would assume he also knew something about warfare.
