So one thing I noticed during the newest trailer is that when the Inquisitor is confronted by Cassandra he is already wearing armor with the seeker eye on it. Now we know from the timeline the the accord is already broken so it stands to reason that at the peace summit there will be the Inquistion and the Chantry along with whatever templars and seekers that stayed with the Divine instead of following lambert. Now I think you start as a low level member of the seekers kind of like you did at Ostagar in DA:O. So in my thoery your not just some random passerby but an actual member of the seekers already. With so little information it's possible you're someone higher up but I think its more likely your just some seeker grunt before the breach happens. I am betting on and hoping that there will be some time to run around the summit and talk to all the major players before the breach. i am not really sure how the backstory will go for a elf, dwarf, or vashoth being a part of a all human organization such as the seekers. The reason I say Seekers and not Inquisition is because in the trailer you also hear the inquisitor declaring that they are now the inquisition. If this is the case then at the time of the peace summit the templar order and the seekers of truth have seperated from the chantry but, they have not yet formed the Inquisition.

Right. They're not going to use the crappy starter armour in their marketing.

That's something that always kind of bothered me actually. I don't think that starting armor should be designed to look so lame.

The stats shouldn't be as good but there's no reason why equipment shouldn't look nice regardless of level.

Maybe my pleas have been heard and DAI just has really gorgeous equipment regardless of level?

Hopefully we'll be able to look good without having to find that one armor that looks more unique. But from what I've seen in the concept art and the in-engine images they've shown of the armors, I think it'll be better than say, DA2.

As for the OP, yeah, pretty sure it's just a placeholder so the inquisitor looks more memorable in the trailer. I think they did something similar with the DA2 trailers.

Really? I thought some of the starter armors looked fine. The Warrior one, the Fereldan Field Armor, is in my Top 5 armors of DA2.

I heard armors going to be customizable, so theoretically it will be as unique as you want it to be. Maybe they'll even let us customize our first set in the character creator! A girl can dream.  :P

Wouldn't it? You probably couldn't do much because it would be starter equipment, but even being able to change the color would make me happy.

Yeah, I'd think there would probably only be color options at first and you but types of armor upgrades later. Maybe you start with your races' options though.

Kind of like in ME, but you had to wait to get to the ship in those games.

You will be able to customize your first armors, if you like an early armor you can keep making it better and better, and altering it how you want it, you'll be able to see how it looks on you or your companions before finshing it.

You'll be able to do much more than that, say you find an armor set or piece that you like but it's stats suck due to it being early game gear that you really like. You can stash it in your skyhold chest or storage area while you improve your crafting and get your blacksmiths better through use, eventually you will reach a point where you can take any ppiece of gear that you like and customize it and make it better and better until it reaches the stats of end game gear.

The upgrade system is more advanced, it's like enchantment 2.0 some will have multiple effects, like rasing your damageand mag defense at the same time, the whole crafting and customization and upgrade system is complex and has a lot of depth.
Anyway as other's mentioned it's place holder armor and is the inquisitors armor set that they will use for marketing, as for why we're there that will depend on our backgrounds and race, each race will have it's own reason for being there and many other additional thing's that's attached to our race, class, and backgrounds.ck

Where did you get all that info? I believe you, I'm just wondering where you found so much information. Thank you, btw. That sounds really cool.

It's more about showing a consistent character through the trailer despite showing various sequences that do not happen all at the same time.

Just like in DA2 trailers Hawke always had the champion armor despite of when the trailer was taking place. Just think, the cg trailer in which he is dueling the arishok, he can't have the champion armor ingame yet.

What they are trying to make is the armor iconic, kind of like when you see anyone with the N7 armor on you think of Shepard, regardless of male, female, drawing, ingame pic, cosplay...

The crafting and customization podcast from pax prime last year via nerd appropriate, and the old game informer cover story, the stuff about the backgrounds affecting the opening sequence is from various sources including the making your mark podcast.

So, there you are in the area minding your own business when you hear a rumor that people are gathering nearby. Of course, this means that there might be a chance for you to do some business and buy some supplies. As you arrive at the summit...BLAM!!! You get sucked in the Fade and now have to fight your way out.

That fancy gear you're wearing? All looted from the corpses of unfortunate seekers laying around on the Fade floor.

It's all tutorial gear and must be trash. But you still look rather stylish. Better than your traveler rags you're wearing when you're first introduced.

I would buy that explanation, but I doubt it would be easy to find Seeker robes in Qunari or dwarven sizes. :P

I'm with you there. I thought, for example, the TW2 starting armour looked fine. But RPGs that follow the D&D mold seem to embrace "crap looking starting gear".

Yeah, as was pointed out in the first comment it's obviously just a placeholder for the trailer. They need to make the Default Inquisitor look memorable, this is why he is always in that helmet.

I also do hope that the starting Armour is decent looking though, I guess what we are wearing would depend on who we are and why we are there.

I personally suspect that we might look like crap after the trip into the Fade and back. Not in a "low gear" effect, but in the "got blown by an explosion and survived" one.

Trailers often take creative liberties with the equipment. It doesn't mean anything.

One of the Mass Effect 3 trailers shows Shepard in N7 Defender armour during the scene in which the Normandy arrives on Earth. As we know, Shepard was in casual clothes during that sequence. ;)

It's a marketing decision.

BioWare shows the same Inquisitor in every instance wearing the same thing so people on the bottom half of average IQ will realize, derp, it's the main character. Instead of some random guy, I guess.

It's the same reason that, leading up to ME1's release, the fact that you could play female was only mentioned offhandedly in a single demo being shown off by a dev (who was playing Meer-Shepard).

It's also possible that the moment being shown in the trailer is not the moment the dialogue is supposed to be placed in. DAI will probably start with you waking up in a pile of corpses with amnesia.

Which I can understand. If I woke up in a pile of corpses, I'd want amnesia. Heck, I woke up on some Italian lady's yard, naked and sticky, and I wish I had amnesia about that.
