I mean, I went back to play through ME3 where I last left off, and just couldn't be bothered to finish the playthrough...

Was it the ending, or the autodialogue, or just the fact that I have no more interest? I don't know...

Anyways, I'm looking forward to the next game, but until then, I'm done with Mass Effect.

Yep, me too. It's not just boredom, it's been a long time since I last played it and I only rolled two characters. The ending was just the last straw, the autodialogue, the changes they did to Shepard's personality and the change of tone had made me lose interest already.

I've lost interest in playing ME1 since the gameplay improvements 2 and 3 brought, but that's about it (1 is still a good game, but dated for my preferences).

I'm planning a new ME3 playthrough in the next few weeks.

As CronoDragoon mentioned, the first game is a little dated, but I still enjoy playing it despite that. The second and third are still great fun to me and I play them with gusto.

I'm taking a break from ME right now, since I have soooo many games on backlog and want to finish them first. But once that is done, I'm looking forward to getting back to the trilogy.

So the answer to your question would be a resounding no, from my side.

Agree with the couple of points above. Whilst ME was a great game when it came out, compared to the other two it's just too rough around the edges now. Any play through now starts with a gibbed ME2 save.

Other than that, I'll be playing ME2 and ME3 again.

Nope. I find myself sticking mostly to ME3, though I occasionally like to revisit ME1. ME2 probably holds up the worst of the 3 to me when replayed.

I find the (lack of) inventory and progression in me2 to be the most off putting; I think I prefer the combat of me1 over it too. Progression and combat wise me3 beats them both; whereas me2 probably has the more interesting individual missions and locations (even if it fails when viewed as part of the trilogy).
But no, not bored of it yet (but then I've only had it for 6months, and am only just started investigating mods..).

Interesting. Why do you feel this way?

Omg, I'm not alone in my feelings about ME2.

Was there a long time between picking up where you left off and eh.. leaving off? Cause this is, I think, a very common problem in RPGs. If I leave a playthrough for a few weeks I'm completely out of touch with it and pretty much have to start over.

Probably because it's an extremely dumbed down version of an RPG.

Do note that I'm the type of RPG gamer that prefers spending a lot of time on the level up screen and customization menus.

Ick, I can see a "what is an RPG" debate coming! I will say that compared to ME1's weapons/armor system, I'd rather have no system at all. Thankfully ME3 is weapon customization done right.

ME2's forced alignment with Cerberus is actually a little frustrating. As cool as it was to see the Normandy be destroyed from the inside, Shepard's death was an unnecessary plot element. The Collectors feel like another diversion. I didn't really buy into the threat they could pose for earth, even with this human reaper, especially not if one little frigate can take out a Collector cruiser. The missions were fun, but it sort of strained belief that I needed all of these random people to fight the Collectors. They seemed to serve more to flesh out the universe a great deal more than to seem like useful assets, with the obvious exception of Mordin, and to some extent Garrus (I guess Tali also but whatever. They were clearly there to bring back fan faves). That's fine and good, but it comes off as some kind of rule-of-cool menagerie. Then there's the lack of weapons options and blatantly obvious arena-like combat zones, which ME3 improved upon immensely.

I tend too agree, I did not bye in too the collector threat to earth as well. I felt they focused to much on a non enemy in ME2. The reaper baby was 0.0 to me, I my eyes went that way. I was like "Wait! I thought I had put MASS EFFECT in my Xbox not Termatior".

If I had lost interest in the trilogy, I wouldn't be posting in a Mass Effect forum.

I've gone back to Dragon Age for now. I expect to be back on ME eventually, though. (Sooner if there's ever a DLC sale.) I might start with a no-import Refuse run, since I've never played a FailShep yet. But there's other stuff on my queue. I'm actually playing Starflight now. I'm considering switching to Hercules mode rather than EGA. Amber screen, natch.

Dead Space is also free now, so I'll probably give that a shot.

Do you think you're intelligent? There's a lot more to this forum than just Mass Effect, and I am discussing. So get out

Fair enough. From my perspective, starting from ME2, a lot of this doesn't apply. What someone else might see as "an unnecessary plot element" I simply see as "the beginning of the plot." I suppose it makes sense that I like ME2's intro, since it was designed for people like me who started the series there.

Happens to me. You might be "burned out" in regards to the series. I'm currently playing through the series for my buddy, who hates RPGs, for gamerscore and TA points, now I can't be hassled to play through them for myself again. It's not uncommon for that to happen. After I completed DA:O for the umpteenth time I didn't want to finish off my new dwarf noble or even start DAII again. Like someone else said, it's a problem for RPGs, leaving and then trying to come back to that character. You forget what your were doing, your equipment and build, etc.

My problem with ME2 is the lack of plot focus, you spend so much time doing all these recruitment and loyalty missions instead of focusing on the Collectors and it just gets boring, I don't care about the squadmates issues, I really don't, they are not important in the grand scheme of things. I was told I was building a team of professional's who can get the job done, but this so called group aren't professional enough to put their problems to the back of their minds and concentrate on the mission like you would expect actual professionals to do.

Honestly, the gif below describes accurately how I feel about the squad and their daddy issues.

rnE90.gif

What a useless bunch of "professionals".
