Also; the LOTR trilogy is brilliant, "I am no man!" scene notwithstanding (mother of god that scene was awful)

TBH it sounds like most people are just dealing with the fact that this trilogy has been around for awhiiiiiiile. It must be like this for aloooot of games...and everything else people like in general, I mean it's only natural that you feel less inclined to playthrough it for the 10th time especially when you can be spending time on other new big games or whatever that are coming out all the time.

Not so much that the trilogy in itself is lacking, aside from ME3's enidng etc etc. I just played ME2/ME3 for the first time ever just a few weeks ago, and even though I've done excessive research on the storylines, the endings, characters, lore, and all of the possible cinematics for this and that, I am SO pumped to playthrough the entire thing (starting from ME1 yay!) as a Vanguard instead of Solider and who knows how long I remain obsessed and keep playing through it until years later I'm in your guys' boat from having been with it for a long time. Just wait till ME4 comes closer to release, everyone will be going crazy again, people will be dusting off the trilogy, and ME4 will sell like crazy. Tis just the cycle of things.

Just finished a complete play through a few weeks ago so I'm not doing it again too soon. Having said that I'm finding it much harder to get into doing a second run of DAO than a third ME.

Lost the energy to do any of the side-stuff in ME1 after 5 minutes of that **** to be honest. But I think I can still finish it the game just fine because I really, really adore all of the main story missions

A lot of the side missions do feel like a chore. Only my main character has a completionist save file to carry over. Everything else is pretty much a rush job.

Still can't bring myself to play it...

Oh the joys of BF4 MP finally working properly!

I don't go out of my way on side missions any more, but I still play the important ones. Like the Luna base VI going out of control, companion quests, and Conrad stuff. In the middle of a full playthrough of the trilogy actually.

I always set out to do everything in ME1. I never do. By the time I unlock Ilos I just finish up the collection assignments and go for it.

I still do a lot of missions though, but I'm certain that at least one (chain) of missions I've never completed: the listening posts.

After two playthroughs of ME2 I discovered there are UNC like mission in that game too... How I managed to miss all the planets with missions while still collecting enough materials to get every upgrade, I have no idea.

I don't play everyday, or every week. I take breaks from ME games to play SWTOR, and DA:O and a couple other games. (Recently started playing Hitman:Absolution because I imagine the main character as Timothy Oliphant.... )

Anyway, if your tired of playing ME games, so be it. It's your time to spend doing what you want to do.

For me, I'll be back with Shepard soon. Always will, even after ME4 comes out. Shepard's story is my favorite gaming experience.

I don't know if good books are like this, but in every playthrough of the Mass Effect trilogy I feel like I discovered something new:

Gameplay - I usually find some new way to use abilities and weapons. This time I am spamming Adrenalin Rush with a Revanant (a gun I have always hated).

Love Interest - Something unexpected usually happens. In this game it was breaking up with Liara and Jack's public show of affection.

New conversation lines - Probably because I'm picking a lot more Renegade options than usual. Just off the top of my head, moments that were unexpected that stand out are:
* Shep's last words to Ashley at Virmire
* Jacob giving his father a pistol with one clip and leaving him
* Samara intimating that it may be her duty to track him down after the war and kill him
* Shepard threatening to throw all batarian refugees off the Citadel unless they join.

Yeah, if it plays no decently significant role (if I'm a SS I will always always do the Cerberus-related quests), it's just an instant skip for me. I can't bring myself to do the collection or keeper scanning quests because the payoff is just not even remotely worth all that headache-inducing tedium.

This goes for side stuff in the trilogy as a whole. I've promoted so much in multiplayer that I can't find the sense in squeezing out as many war asset points as possible

Not at all.

In regards to Mass Effect 3, Shepard slipped on a banana peel and hit his head.
