Will my Dalish actually believe in the Creators?

While replaying DA:O as a Dalish Warden, I've noticed that they still given us Chantry views. One particular example is the conversation with Sten about wisdom. Only few other conversations actually give us a slight difference about religion.

As I ask... Will my Dalish be able to confirm his/her belief in their Creator gods? Or will I be part of the Chantry even though I am Dalish who has probably been taught His/Her entire life to believe in the Creators.

They have said before that you will NOT have to profess belief in the Chantry doctrine, at all.

That's because you just get generic dialogue for everything but Origin specific stuff in DA:O. I imagine the writers will be better about that this time around?

Do you have the line in the Sten conversation, though? I can't seem to find it.

This I know, but Will I be able to practice my belief in the Creators?

What do you mean practice your belief?

Sorry, I'm multitasking.. I meant as in " Would the option to believe in the Creators exist?"

Possibly, you have an option to do so in Origins so I don't see why not, tbh. They already limited us to playing only Dalish, so if they don't even give us an option to say what we believe in then.. why even write only Dalish, you know?

I think it has to. Believing in the Creators seems pretty integral to being Dalish.

I do hope it actually shows up in conversation dialogue for the Dalish Inquisitor as would the "Stone" for the Dwarf. Won't be that disappointed if it isn't though.

I hope so, but I would think that's a fairly good chance we can. Origins gave us plenty of chances to reference the Creators. I don't remember any dialogue options where a Chantry or Maker reference was there and there wasn't at least one Creators reference as well. But then, my Dalish Warrior never took Sten with him.

By the end of the game, PC won't know what to believe in.

Hopefully the Dalish Inquisitor will use elven words as well.

They should use "Ma serannas" instead of "Thank you".

I don't recall the conversation with Sten but first time around, with my Dalish warden, I hadn't really got the hang of getting him to talk.  Are you sure it wasn't just defending non Qunari ways and beliefs generally?    However, I do remember being able to tell the Chantry mother where to go when she offered me a blessing in the camp at Ostagar (although I think that was also available to city elf and dwarf as well).   Also I think you only get the information about the verses pertaining to Shartan being removed from the Chant if you are an elf, though again not Dalish specific.

However, I don't think anyone was forced to profess a belief in the Maker or the Chantry in either DAO or DA2.    As for actually professing a belief in the Creators, why would a Dalish consider it necessary to do so to non elves?    Merrill will tell you stories about the Creators but only if prompted to do so.   I have yet to come across any Dalish who insists on promoting their faith outside of their community.    It is only important to them that they maintain their belief in the Creators and try to recover the old ways so that they will be rewarded by a return of their gods but it strikes me that this is manifested in how they conduct themselves generally rather than loudly proclaiming their allegiance to their gods.

One of the reasons my Dalish Warden refused to do the deal with Morrigan is that so far as he was concerned the old gods of Tevinter had been responsible for the fall of Arlathan and so the last thing he wanted was to see one of them saved.   This is why I thought it odd when Merrill approved of making an offering to Dumat in the Legacy DLC, whether it was an ancient ritual or not.   My Dalish Warden would think that very odd and not in keeping with their beliefs.

Telling Chanters off is not origin specific. The Shartan stuff I think is specific.

There's definitely Dalish specific content with the Chantry Mother at Ostagar, but I can't remember the full extent of it all. Some of the negative responses may be elf specific.

I don't think the question is necessarily if an elf PC can promote the Dalish Religion unsolicited, but mentioning it in general could be important I think.

Only if I'm allowed to openly go against them as well.

Me, too.  :pinched:  I remember my dreams of a City Elf Mage in hiding Inquisitor all crushed with that single post. Learned not to make a character that solid until the game actually comes out.

I kind of want a City Elf too.  I think it's a bit easier to match up some of the class specializations with one.

Dalish Necromancer?  eh?

I like the Artificer spec but not sure how that would fit with a Dalish in lore.

I'll just end up playing an antitraditionalist Dalish.

Well, we've never had a Dalish able to hate Dalish things, so hopefully you're right.

I kind of hope there's the option to politely disagree with the Chantry religion. It seemed like most of the time in Origins, your only two options were to completely embrace the Maker or to angrily sh-t on anyone who believes in the Maker. Call me weak, but I'd love to be able to play a Dalish who believes in the Creators but doesn't care if someone else doesn't.

Hopefully, what's the point in playing a Dalish pc if we aren't given the opportunity to express their varying views,as far as some subjects like religion are concerned. And this for me, applies for every possible non Andrastian pc.Personally I wouldn't like having the world reacting to my pc differently according to their race and class, without giving my pc to react to them differently as well.

Agreed, I feel like with City Elf they can go 1000 ways but I don't know how they will expand Dalish Elf from what we already saw in Origins.

I would love a neutral option. I remember my first playthrough where I accidentally threatened a priest! Morrigans reaction was priceless, though.

I plan on basically making a Dalish Elf version of Toph from Avatar: someone who doesn't like all the rules of the Dalish and how it confines them, especially as a mage.

I ever have a slogan for that character. :P

I already love your character.  :D

If Toph was in Dragon age Verse, she'd def be a Dalish, she even has the powers and outfit-colour-coordination for it.  ^_^

Thanks. ^_^

It really fits too since as a Mage, they'd be restricted from doing pretty much everything since they are being trained to be a Keeper as shown when Merrill talks about it.

I also want that color scheme for my armors. Hopefully the hair and eye options as well.
