Hello,

First, sorry for my imperfect english, I'm french.

I know that the trilogy is supposed to be remastered for the next-gen consoles and PC, and I have a few ideas take the opportunity to correct most of the mistakes made and give justice to this game, which the biggest (in terms of story) and one of the greatest ever made.

- Improve the facial expressions by using motion capture, like they did in The Last of Us

- Adopt the same combat system for the three games to give a real unity to the trilogy.

- Remove boring missions of ME1 (like searching whatever resources on the planet) and average missions of ME2 (like the one with the ship wreck) and replace them with meaningful missions, like in ME3.

- Suppress once and for all the necessity to scan in ME2 to find mineral resources, and replace it with the ME3 scan, just to detect anomalies and side missions in the system.

- Give more diversity to the planets, by varying colors, textures, light and landscapes. (I would love to see a mission in a planet like Jupiter or Pluto). As well I wish the crew could really jump and climb, which would give the opportunity to include change of gravity. We could jump very high on small planets, which would lead to interesting development in terms of gameplay.

 - Create one Citadel for  all three games, with different zones accessible, according to the story.

- Improve the journal by indicating clearly if one mission is urgent or not, the steps of completion, and a link to the galactic and local map.

- Make the email system more interesting by giving choices of responses

And a very important one : open it to modding ! With Little Big Planet more than 5 millions of levels have been created, and for Skyrim, graphics are constantly updated and improved thanks to the modders community, new quests are created and flaws of the vanilla game have been fixed (like the U.I). The modding community would keep the game updated and would give even more reasons to buy it.

Here's what I propose :

- Ask people to volunteer to give, let's say 3 GB of space to host the mods created by the community, and adopt a P2P protocol so almost no more servers would be required. Each mod is duplicated and spread as much as much as possible to ensure availability and speed of download or streaming.

- Set up a participation credits where the more you host, the more you share, the more you have fast access to the mods of others.

- The mods can be reviewed and evaluated by the community and some of them can become "canon" if they are excellent and consistent with the vanilla game. For the ones who become "canon", Bioware would pay to produce a fully voiced story, and they would make money by selling monthly subscriptions to access the canon mods fully voiced. The other modders would need to produce their own acting or would just use text with voice sounds (like in Zelda).

- Set up a system to allow team work where the participation of each modder is recognized.

- Set up a sharing platform where you can upload and download textures, blueprints for planets, systems, etc.

- A planet could be shared to host multple maps and multiple missions. Remove automatically the mods or maps if the notes given are too bad, to ensure consistency and quality.

This would lead to a semi MMORPG game where the lore would be constantly renewed and enriched. Of course a notation system is required based on consistency (with the story and the universe) and quality. If you take the example of Little Big Planet or Minecraft, this would make the Milky Way feel like a really big place, with tons of stuff to discover. The first thing I would do would be to recreate Arrakis from Dune and adapt quests to the Mass Effect universe.

Then here is a few ideas for ME4

- Remove the linearity of the levels, instead, take inspiration from Deus Ex, where you have a big place that you can explore the way you want.

- Make the animation of faces more alive like they did in L.A Noire or The Last of Us.

- Give the crew members the possibility to jump (with different gravities), climb, swim, dive and fly (with a machine of course).

- Give the tools to people to help you create a big Citadel, a big Ilium or a big Omega, where we could create our own house or apartment. If you set the constraints (in term of style, architecture, locations etc.), the cities could be built very rapidly (the area of all the worlds created in Minecraft is bigger than Neptun)

- Remove the paragon/renegade system and replace it with more organic choices. Most of the choices we make in life are not moral choices but just choices (do I take this job ? Shall I stay with my girlfriend ? Shall I buy this house ?), so I suggest strategic choices with which having advantages and costs, and unpredictable outcomes (like in the real life).

- Develop the realism of the psychology o the characters like they did with the serie Battlestar Galactica, to make the dialogs more engaging and the plot more mature.

- Develop stealth.

I invite everyone to criticize my ideas and propose new ones to make the saga even greater.

I think opening the game to modding would be very difficult - it's a linear, story-focused game, which immediately closes doors in terms of modifications. The most players are willing to install tends to be HD texture mods/fixes and minor cutscene modifications.
