If I'm weak you don't like me.

If I suck you don't like me.

If I'm OP you don't like me.

If I'm totally awesome you don't like me.

If we wipe on wave 8 you don't like me.

If I dominate all the way to full extraction you don't like me.

If I use high level consumables you don't like me.

If I don't use any consumables you don't like me.

If I use the wrong weapon on the wrong kit you don't like me.

If I outscore you on the scoreboard you don't like me.

If I nuke all the targets in 5 seconds on wave 10 you don't like me.

If I just sit there camping & let you do all the work you don't like me.

If I steal all your kills with my Flamer you don't like me.

If I don't ready up fast enough you don't like me.

Hmmm...reading through this thread, i understand what is being stated and i understand to a small degree, but i don't think it's a big of an issue as folks make it out to be. I pug about 98% of the time and i can still find enjoyment out of using overpowered kits. Sometimes i can be geared up to the top with everything and still find gold challenging. Some kits will always be better than others and they can kill faster than other kits, and if you are playing with friends that are experts at this game, then every gold game you cats fire up will seem easy.

For me even tho i don't play alot of Plat games, they are still quite challenging and fun for me and that goes for gold games as well. I mostly run with the destroyer and phoenix vanguard as of late and i rarely max them out for gold games, but they do get maxed out for plat. My point is that the game for me at least is still fun challenging in gold and Plat difficulties and even good players will still wipe and die in those difficulties. I just don't see it becoming a concern to the point where everybody is complaining that now we are going to start saying "lol gold/plat"

We laugh and joke at the e-peen stuff, but to actually complain about folks actually topping off their characters because it makes the game easier is a bit silly...that is what the gear is there for and gold and plat can still provide a solid challenge.

I was in a pug the other day when the host changed it from platinum to gold, then kicked me. When I asked why I was told it was because they didn't want me to waste level IV consumables on gold. The only one I had on was a disrupter IV, of which I had 255, but I didn't have the heart to tell him that.

Frankly, I've always used whatever equipment I feel like, whether I'm using a hornet or a hurricane, and if I want to use level IV s on gold then I do so. I've never run out of anything by doing this. There's still challenge in going for the fastest time possible, is there not? Admittedly if there's 3 or 4 people all taking top tier stuff then you should probably move to platinum, but that's not often the case in pugs.

I feel you would have a much easier time getting your point across if you didn't have this undercurrent of thought in most, if not all, of your posts.

It's because I try very hard to be open minded + make sure I've analyze everything as properly as possible + I'm really bad at explaining things, sadly (maybe cause English is a second language to me. Born in Romania), and really have a hard time to get my point across and trying very hard to make sure I don't get a wrong point across. As I'm also very strong against filling peoples heads with BS as well as other that do it all the time. So please don't  get me wrong, my intentions are usually good.

I'll be damned if I let someone tell me how/what to play. TGI+Harrier all day. If you don't like it, you can leave/kick me.

I don't leave for these setups all the time, cause like I've said, some folks really need the help of that. But in your case & your skill, I'll leave. Though I only see you playing with the vanilla human classes. So we should be fine. Last I played you, you had the Executioner, and being pretty impressive with it I assume correct, cause you did show me a spectacular Collector headshot *pop* right in front of me. And when good players play with some skill, it's very pleasing & something to look up too. Instead of "Well yeah, look at that cheap noob skills required setup."

That, and I can't understand how much better at this game folks can get any fun from totally tanking & obliterating Gold/Silver/Bronze with mindlessly easy setups? When I do the same, like say mindless one-two Melee only KroLord (which is just a tracking charge & melee repeated an ENTIRE match people!!! Hello! Boring calling Earth!) and totally wrecking things, not ever going down, and leaving the pugs peanuts, I get bored as hell & want to stop playing this game altogether. Luckily playing him specced across all his powers and strengths (including some good strength in melee, cause Krogan) and maxing Carnage is the solution to me to get any enjoyment out of this insanely tanky powerhouse kit. And really good enjoyment at that too, from originally none.

Well, after I did my lvl 0 Gold solo with the Avenger I felt I was done with the handicapping crap because it served no other purpose than making the game take longer to complete.

The game doesn't really get harder when you handicap yourself, it just takes longer before you get the extraction. So why would I handicap myself if I don't feel like it is getting more difficult because of it? Even if I take the worst freaking gun in the game and have no skill points assigned it still feels easy, but I rather have a 20 minute game than a 60 minute one.

I'm very disappointed cause I already answered you this, maybe even twice, on the old forum. Here it is again;

Your talking solo, not playing as a team with pugs. Yes, when the pugs die I feel things getting in control again regardless of what I have, just that it'll take forever if I'm stuck with a really gimped setup. But while the pugs are still alive and me putting some effort into it so that it don't end up with just me soloing, well, it's just total freaking chaos sometimes. And that's were it's at. Too bad all you pro players only like playing by yourselves (one man Rambo) to ever see what fun your missing. And instead just stop playing altogether. When was the last time you played? Last time you said you were just coming back. Bet that didn't last either. So.... how can you can you say you know what's best for getting the most fun out of this game when you clearly burned yourself out way too soon?

Yes there is. But playing with a very OP kit and totally murdering in the kill feed category leaving the pugs no better option then to walk around in circles shooting at the sky may not be the way to do it? Do it with your own kind. Most pugs don't always have the OP kits, weapons and consumables to even attempt competing with your OP setups (not to mention skill level). Heck, stuff like that is probably what encourages them to missile glitch in the first? Such a sad thought. But probably so true.... and probably turns into a vicious circle too...

Thought number 1: Kill faster

Thought number 2: Learn in the lower difficulties not jump out of your league

Thought number 3: Apparently some people think that if you suck, you are excused for cheating

Thought number 4: Consumables are OP...

all he did was just nuke spawns.

Where's the fun in that?  He went from hero to zero in record time.

first its wrong to use some weapons the way they are supposed to be used (harrier tgi /venom aiu etc), now its also wrong to missile enemies? good lord what other rules can we think of?

I'm sure that I'm driving tons of people to missile glitching, as we all know the PC has tons of them.

As long as we're here, is there anything else you'd like to blame on me for playing the Harrier TGI and carrying the pugs to victory? The entire Reaper invasion, perhaps?

1. I wasn't talking about soloing in general, I was talking about playing with a full team. All I did was to make a reference as to when I stopped caring about gimping myself and that was after my lvl 0 Avenger solo. I often gimped myself with full teams as well but all it did was making the games longer and not harder

2. Who said I burned myself out on this game? I stopped playing because of real life stuff and because I wanted to play other games as well

3. Too soon? You feel like 2000 hours is way too soon? Get a reality check buddy because that is just messed up

Heh, this reminds me of the consumable thread i made a while back, People seem to whine about everything, ranging from no consumables to OP kits being scrubby.

While what you say is true Sinful that it ruins other peoples fun when they cant kill anything, its also true what others say as the OP kits makes a run go faster especially with bad pugs.

I am running into games where people even with consumables don't know how to stay alive, and the best wave clutcher is an OP kit.

In your defense, those same people skilled with OP kits can't really talk on how they "carried" a decent team that could barely kill anything due to them spawn nuking.

In the end everyone should just use what kits fit them, and stop being demanding of others.

I like your post but I want to point something out. The people who are really capable of carrying without nukes and OP kits are the ones who he is offending. And those people have no reason to talk about how much or how often they carry.

Correct. Some people need to understand that it is no certain kit that is OP but it is the players themselves that are OP. An OP player can carry a full team of randoms with a "bad" kit, but a bad player can't even carry Bronze with an OP kit.

Overall, if you can consistently get through waves 8-10 on gold, then you can easily handle platinum.  Gold, like Bronze and Silver, ramp up in difficulty over the course of the game.  Platinum is more like a plateau of hardness, with some oddball difficulty spikes, but is generally not much more difficult then gold 8-10.

I personally have more fun on Gold, and enjoy the mixture of kits and players that frequent gold.

My choice of kit often changes depending on the players set ups in the lobby.

If they are all obviously inexperienced I will change to  solid kit like the Batsol so that I can deal with any lag and carry if needed..

If there are all biotics I will switch to same so I dont mess up the dynamics

I had an astonishing thought today; Maybe different people have different opinions!

I know it's hard to grasp, but think it over for a while.

So some people like playing "overpowered" setups. So some people like playing other setups.

So what?

Are you going to start criticizing people because they like cake instead of pie? Or hockey instead of baseball?

Some people read romance novels. Some people read historical fiction. I read science fiction. Does that make one of us 'worse' than the other?

Honestly, the biggest idiot is the one that thinks that by arguing they can convince someone else that their opinions based on personal preferences are wrong. You might as well try to convince me that red is better than green.

tl;dr: Everyone in this thread is an idiot.
