@Xamufam- Rana Thanoptis was indoctrinated on Virmire. What makes you think otherwise? She was indoctrinated completely, but allowed to be fully autonomous until the reaper war began. Then, the reapers used her. She was essentially a sleeper agent of sorts. It didn't take her three years to be indoctrinated.

If she was fully indoctrinated from the beginning she would not have helped, The reapers can use the victims body to amplify it's signal with the use of quantum entanglement. Rana explains in me1 that when you are getting indoctrinated you see hallucinations & hear whispers she did in me3 not in me1. she also explains that the person before her was indoctrinated.

 

She would not have been sane after years of indoctrination, rapid indoctrination would have been worse just look at the salarian on wirmire in me1

Rana served on Sovereign. She was already indoctrinated.  Also proper shielding would protect from indoctrination. It wasn't rocket science. It was stupidity that got people indoctrinated. Stupidity for plot contrivance.

No, Xamufam- Indoctrination is not an all or nothing event. The less will a subject has, the more useless they are to the reapers. Rana was indoctrinated, but she still had free will. That's how she could aid you (although that was pretty much in her own self interest more than anything else). Just because someone is indoctrinated doesn't mean that they cannot choose actions that temporarily align with your side. They wouldnt make very good sleeper agents at all then.
