Pantea- A Persian General who along with her husband was one of the most powerful in the world commanding the Immortals (for those of you who watched 300). She was also known as one of the most beautiful women in the world. Her name means Strong and Immortal.
Artunis- One of the several female commanders of the Persian army, her name means True and Faithful.
Atusa- Was a queen of great power, who had a personal army, great wealth known for a powerful sense of what is to come(mage anybody?) and although married to the king was known for having "all the power" of the kingdom at that time.
Amestris- A Queen and military commander whose mother was a general. (no kidding who knew ancient Persia had so many important women?) She was hated by the Greeks for being ruthless and bloodthirsty. Known for her strict laws.
Artemesia- An Admiral for Xerxes and known as a great love of his. She was in charge of naval fleets and won many naval battles in key wars. The greeks offered tons of money for her head.Means: great Speaker of Truth.
Pari Satis- A queen had her own army, but is known for settling disputes, including stopping an overthrow of another king and advising her husband, also was a general.
Estatira- Was a Princess who was later captured By Alexander the Great and became one of his wives. She was a Lietentant General and her name means Creation of Stars
Youtab- The sister of one of the greatest generals. She and her brother fought to the last to defend Persia from Alexander. Her name means Unique
Roxanna- Another of Alexander's wives if not for political maneuvering her son would have become the next king. Her name means Dawn of Great Beauty
Sura- One of the last Princesses of the Persian empire. She was considered a tactical Genius and the right hand of her father. She was a lieutenant General and was known to be close to those who followed her.
Zenon- Was a court dancer, in ancient Persia, dancing was considered a great artform and there were many sacred dancers. She was known as the apple of the Kings eye.
Aspas- Commander of the Persian Police and a Princess.Meaning: Gueard of Strength.
Parin: A famous and Crafty Politicuian.
Shirin- A Christian Princess whose love was fought hard for by a Persian King. He built cities to her and today there is still a city named after her.
And one More.. Apranik who fought against invaders and was a symbol for Persian resistance, she climed from the bottom rung to a commander. When invaqded she fought until she died, her and her troops. So much so that when a woman soldier did well they called her Apranik. Her white horse became a symbol of freedom, she died rather be captured. She is considered a historic legend, much like our American Fathers.
