And you can tell that from the less than 10 seconds we saw?
yes.
you see there is some kind of chain of development.
Like in ME2 you can combine some powers, like in the tutorial run with Jacob, later on it evolved in combos between kits in ME3.
Now DA2 have crossclass combos, however combat itself is rather bad. It's fast paced, but boring as hell. Because to create combat with firearms is easier than with the swords.
And what do we get now? 5 metres long jumps, 3 metres high jumps, attack moves that have no sense at all (like this spinning attack for example). What's the point of making all these acrobatics, when mobs would have only 2-3 slow attacks at best. So what we have now is DA2 combat mechanics with some improvements.
But it still looks so ridiculously stupid. I just hope that plot and characters will pull this game off. Because i will not buy this game for combat mechanics for sure.
However i still wanna see tactical option and tactical overview for a combat. Maybe it's not that bad and lowly consoleish.
p.s. and these dodge moves? against enemies who telegraphing their attacks so you really can't miss them? I mean i've seen worse in TESO, but come on.

I also thought Vivienne was an Elf so her being dark skinned surprised me because I am so use to Elfs always being white. But Vivienne's part of the trailer really makes me not trust her because of the line that was said with her appearance, I kinda want to shank her now so she can't hinder my success
I just find it funny that they called her "The Ambition" when her quote was all about "you must survive". Personally, I consider someone who only concerns themselves with bare survival to lack ambition. Homeless people living off food they find in dumpsters are surviving.
That and the quote just made her sound like a pure copy/paste of Morrigan. Sad.

So their should be no warning you are about to be killed and just get killed? I just don't get this mindset. It is not a arcade game where they make money of killing you and no matter the level of temper tantrum you throw you still push some coins into the machine to try again.
I feel I should be rewarded by seeing that dragon is taking a deep breath and getting out the way. Because we all know what dragons can breath.

Looks like the promised new gameplay separate from the EA conference was shown privately later on. Looking at Aaryn Flynn's twitter.

That's not technically true. I believe try said they were just preparing the demo for tomorrow. Making sure everything went smoothly. They were just sending out some stills if it to whet our appetites. That's just what I got from Mr. Flynn's twitter anyway.

FINALLY home from work and able to sit down and really watch these trailers. I'm blown away; I didn't think I could be any more excited for this game. The video with the cello player in particular was moving, and I think Sera and I are gonna get along very, very well. This game is gonna be glorious. Great kick off to a week of Dragon Age!

Like a shot where she's not in movement? True the fight was a bit hectic so you didn't get the best look of her but I think the end shot of her standing with the companions was good. I like her silly pulled-too-high pants
A standing shot is alright I guess? I was hoping to get so actually good game play with her since we already have several videos featuring male quizzy doing stuff. I suppose beggars can't be choosers though and it was still nice to get something ![]()

thank you for summing it up. seems they have completely abandoned going back to the roots of DA:O, didn't see a single thing that looked like it was inspired by origins. like a mash up of DA2 and ME3

Sounds awesome. Sign me up. Origins' combat was awful on consoles.
Also the trailer with the locales and companions was off the hook. Can't freaking wait.

To be fair, they never said they were "going back to their roots" only that it would be a "middle-ground" and that is what we have seen. The combat is still fast, but not so fast that we can't use the tactical view and strategically place and command our companions.

Seems like the best of both worlds to me, I missed tactical view but loved the combat in DA2. Sign me up.

sure warnings are nice. but not if i have time to go to the kitchen, make some tea, return to my pc and actually dodge that attack.

I think that everything looks pretty fun feeling better about pre ordering this on PS4. BUT, the timed exclusive stuff really REALLY soured it for me.
In what video do we hear the female Inquisitor?

1. We've only seen the Rogue do that and well, that's just what rogues do. Rogues are always about fancy acrobatics, flips, and not being entirely practical in their attacks; they're "showy" in short. Besides, there's not many unique, interesting, and normal attacks you can give a Rogue using dual daggers for a skill/special attack, you're going to have to get creative with them and yes, maybe a bit "out there" and silly.
2. We don't know this yet, enemies could attack as fast as we do for all we know. Either way, that really wouldn't matter, because it has always been numbers that make the enemies deadly, that there are only four of us and 10-20 of them and that they can gang up on you.
3. Isn't that what people wanted? People liked DA2's combat over DAO's but found it too over the top and had some problems with it. Now, until we see two handed warriors flipping through the air to their next foe on the battlefield, I'll call that an improvement. I don't think anybody wanted to go back to DAO's fights.
4. What would be the point otherwise? Why have an active roll if you could never tell when an enemy attacks? Moreover, that wouldn't even make sense. You can always see somebody go for a swing and a warrior/fighter would more easily pick up on these telegraphs and be ready to dodge them. I see no problem with letting people dodge out of the way of attacks. It also rewards the player, "Good job, you saw that attack coming and moved out of the way. You didn't take damage and now they're open for an attack."

The Witcher doesn't exactly depict an ideal fantasy setting, so yes, there is no gender equality. There are plenty of strong female characters, most of them the influential sorceresses, and some are capable warriors.
I didn't play much of TW1, but the majority of women in TW2 are not sexually available. In fact, the romances in the second game were handled better than in the DA games imo.
Respectfully I have to disagree. Just because The Witcher doesn't depict an ideal fantasy setting doesn't mean the majority of women should look like prostitutes/poor models/dominatrix. It can be a game that doesn't have gender equality and still have women who run the full appearance scale. In TW1 you could have sexual relations with women and collect sex cards for every one that you conquered. 26 possible cards, it was basically a collection minigame. The women ranged from noble women, to warriors, to nurses across all sections of the game. They weren't just prostitutes. Long story short you could bang whoever you wanted to.
This was toned down in TW2 but there's still no romance involved and it's unquestionably inferior to DA in this department. Outside of Trish and Ves there are only 5 other women to have sex with as supposed to the 20+ from the first game. In TW1 I could dump Trish and make it clear I no longer wanted a relationship with her. When I import that save into TW2 the first scene is her laying in my bed. No matter what. And she remembers my words so it's not an oversight or a glitch. No matter what I've said to her or how I treat her we will have yet another sexual encounter before I even leave that area. Trish isn't Geralt's partner she's his ******. No matter what he says, how he treats her, how many women he puts above her, or how many women he sleeps with she will be available for whatever he needs/desires. And in neither game does he have to do a single thing to woo her or gain that kind of loyalty. It's automatic. Where's the romance in that? The alternative to Trish is Ves. She requires you to beat her in a duel then choose four dialogue options correctly. Previous conversations with her aren't necessary and only marginally flesh out her character. But somehow this is deeper than the multiple stages of your relationships with Morrigan and Leiliana? No way. Not even close.
I love The Witcher series. Great stories, entertaining combat, and engaging characters. And to be frank the sexual encounter scenes are vastly superior to anything Bioware has come out with in ME or DA. But when it comes to romance and it's treatment of women the series gets an F.

Well I know in DA2 I wished we had the option to let the Qunari take over because I just found the idea so fascinating. I also thought because of its teaser trailer Arishok would be the final battle in DA2, Mage vs Templar ending was surprising to me
I would totally have let the Arishok "enlighten" the lot of them except that I love Isabella too much. But then again after slaying the Arishok maybe the Qunari will take over but leave her alone. lol

Eh, I'd prefer the ME style of focusing on the before and after character moments, instead of the actual screwing.

But you have to look at her definition of surviving. To her survival is being First Enchanter in a thriving Orlais. Just being alive in and of itself doesn't seem like it would be surviving to her.
