It's the game punishing you to use that POS ammo. Nothing more.

Maybe you should quantify how long it took you to go from primer to detonator power.

I don't remember exact times but I'm guessing to prime, shoot target and get explosive ammo detonation and then using detonating power we're talking about 5-7 seconds.Maybe you should quantify how long it took you to go from primer to detonator power.

By then the detonation window for most powers is closed already. Iirc, the prime duration for most powers is around three seconds.

Dark Channel? Also my times may be way off, I'm trying to remember from over a year ago. I can't hardly remember what I had for dinner yesterday.By then the detonation window for most powers is closed already. Iirc, the prime duration for most powers is around three seconds.

When you hear "explosive rounds" you're like
but in reality it's
shame
The bottom one is definitely the best.

It was tricky to test this on Bronze for a couple reason. First was Graal wasn't ideal since it would kill them if I hit them other than with a glancing shot.
Secondly, the FE window is small relative to recharge speed and that took the most attempts to get out of any of the combos.

ugh explosive ammo, piece of garbage that is useless all around.
even if you get an answer to your question, that ammo type will still be crap

Cool thanks for testing. So what's was happening was the priming window is over before the explosive ammo explodes and the detonating power could be cast. So it doesn't unprime. It's still garbage ammo though.

Yeah I think so. FE probably being the most problematic in that regard. That's why I was running SG ULM and a PE III on that Engineer. My first attempt for Tech was actually Talon, but it was outright killing the mooks with legshots. C'est la vie en bronze.

It's one of the few balanced ammo types.

Wait, so it unprimes biotic and tech combos? So it's a troll ammo you say... Interesting... ![]()

Guys, the acronym for Explosive Ammo is EA.
Anyone still thinking about why it's so bad?
Mind = blown

I find Explosive Ammo to be very useful.... on Silver.... when I'm using the GPR, Locust, or any other gun that takes eleventy billion shots to kill a mook. The stagger helps keep the enemies standing in place so I can keep my super soaker stream on them, instead of strafing/rolling after they start taking fire.

But it keeps reapplying and never detonating then.

I woulda done the test on gold with a 1 enemy on field max value instead pretty much for that reason.
I wish I had every really figured out the primer stack. There's no good design reason explosive ammo is blocking detonations, and the only explanation I can really think of is that they copied code from the tech ammo's to get the applied effect easily, and didn't consider that that would put it on the stack with no viable detonators.
