Just thought I would share my WIP build of the M-15 Vindicator and the process.

I started off by tracing over a reference image I got from troodon80 over at deviant art.

13983608100_2272df5801_c.jpg

Once I got my template done I printed them and cut them all out and traced it all out on MDF. I used, 3/4”, 1/4”, and 1/8” mdf sheets that you can pick up at most hardware stores.

13983585129_3060c81c4b_c.jpg14147092846_b8707a475c_c.jpg

After 3 hours at the scroll saw and sander I got all of the pieces cut out. Since each side needed the same pieces I used double sided tape and sandwiched 2 pieces of mdf so I only had to cut out each piece once.

Here it is with all of the pieces stacked up.

I decided I would try some lights, so I got some EL Tape from amazon. I dug out some of the grip for the battery pack, dirty but seems to work. If I redo this build I will need to figure out a cleaner better way to do this.

A little more put together. I just cut the handle and used screws to gold the battery cover on. And super glued a 1/4” dowel to the button for the light.

14167542052_741cb153fc_c.jpg

Filled in some of the gaps with spot putty to try to get it more smoothed out before I glue the final detail layers in place.

13983617780_b4ee7ff8a5_c.jpg

I trued up all of the edges with a bit of bondo and sanding.

13983617720_febd1efe3a_c.jpg

I did some more shaping on the stock and grip. I also attached the scope and the barrels. I used 1" wood dowels for the barrels and used the eye piece from a beat-up scope I found at the thrift store.

14166948291_7b25834886_c.jpg14170307394_be7110750f_c.jpg

I primed and sanded and repeated the process, then put down the base paint.

For paint i used Dupli-Color Metallic Gunmetal for the grey parts. For the stock and grip I used Rustoleum texture and enamel matte black.

14147101946_2f13f59b3c_c.jpg

I painted in the decals with acrylic paint using vinyl stencils I cut out with a Silhouette. I then weathered the decals a bit.

Here is the finished product. I weathered it a bit with dark acrylic paints and some silver/gunmetal dry-brushing, and there you have it. My finished M-15 Vindicator from the Mass Effect Series.

Any questions or critiques would be appreciated. You can hit me up here or on my FB page https://www.facebook...lixfabrications

Looks really great!

Although the gun does seem a bit small, but it's still a freaking awesome replica.

This is both simpler and more complicated than I would have imagined. Are you making more?

I've made the Carnifex.  I am currently rebuilding my N7 armor, but I plan on doing the M8 Avenger and the M98 Widow. Here is a photo of the Carnifex.

Its about 28 inches (71 cm) long, which plenty long.  Its around the same size as most bullpup rifles. Once I get my N7 armor finished I will put a few pics of up me holding it. :)

Thanks.  I built it out of EVA foam mats.  I am redoing a lot parts on it.

I've thought about doing a batch of them and selling them to cosplayers.  I just have no idea on pricing or if it would even be something anyone would be interested in.

I see mass effect cosplay items pop on this site every now and then though the prices are subject to the makers opinion, I think they just sorta base prices on the last item/quality of said item.

Food for thought though, you might be able to make a quite a bit of pocket money out of your talent - i know id be keen.. but my body type would require a little more material than the average bloke so it ends up blowing my budget out for what I think a cosplay outfit should cost (they should really stop marking them 1 size fits all because they dont!)

I might have to give it a shot, it would be nice to have make a little on the side for something I do in my spare time.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Absolutely outstanding work.

Based on just the first Photoshop picture - I never would have thought it could come out looking so good, but you are clearly gifted / talented, and I'm sure you could find a fruitful career as an art designer for AAA Hollywood movies.
