Hey I am working on an Ashley Tela Vasir armor take a look

So what I need is someone to create the pose for me for the selection screen.  I don't know how to do it and it seems like it would be easy for someone with the skill to do it.  Here is the pose I need her to be in.

If you willing give me a shout and I will send you the mod.  I will give you co-author credit for the mod when done.

Send me a link to your model and I'll give it a shot.  I saw your post and tried to match the pose using one of my mesh mods of Ashley and got close...perhaps close enough to get where you want to go.

Thanks so much.  I can't take credit for any of the models or the face I just transferred the bones.  Anyway here is everything.

I'll check it out and see what I can do. In theory it should be easy using IK bones but in practice, outside the game at least (blender or 3ds max) the IK bones are inert. You have to carefully manipulate separate bones and that makes it fairly difficult to do something simple.

I'll play with it a bit later but I took a quick look and the models look great.  I was expecting problems with bones vs mesh alignment but they are perfect: Blender is unable to properly import psk files created by 3ds Max and 3ds incorrectly imports psks created by Blender.  Total nightmare to try and fix so it's usually best to use boneless obj files to go back and forth and rebone the mesh after import.  I assume you did the boning in Blender since they are so perfect on import?

It is (so far) going faster than I expected.  It wont be much longer, I think.  The pose is ALMOST finished...then need to apply the textures and do a background color to match and do a screenshot.

Looking good!  I can do some of the color in Photo-shop as far as the red highlights if that is easier.  Thanks for doing this, when I started to try there were so many points to move I was just overwhelmed and quit.

By the way I did the boning in 3ds.  Guess I just got lucky.

Keep in mind that I don't believe the originals are actual renders.  They look more like a graphic artist painted them.  In any case, here she is as of right now...the eyelashes will take some finess as they use transparency and other weird rendering stuff that doesn't work directly in either 3ds or Blender. At the moment they only have material assigned, but no image (they would be white if I used eyelash textures from the game).  I may have to shrink them down a lot and give them a black color just to make them seem OK.  For her hair I tweaked her hair texture from the game to get the color almost right (it's green if you use it as it comes from the game).

One more for now.  I moved the "sun" and made it twice as bright.  It now renders a bit closer to the way the original does.  A bit more tweaking of the light and it may get better still.

Wow this looks great.  Don't worry to much about the face I think I can photoshop that into the picture?  If you just get the angle right I think I can do the rest.

By the way can you save the pose and assign it to a different model?  I am working on doing her original Pink armor as well and if it is as easy as plugging in the mesh and textures then we could give people that mesh as well.  Also feel free to add this to you Ashley mod.  I am a fan of your work and am glad that you are back.  I will of course give you credit when I post this.  Proud to have a co-mod with you.

I'll tweak her pose a LITTLE more and look into saving the pose (never tried it as I've never really done much with posing before other than for checking weights).  Don't give me too much credit when you post it, just say I helped with the pose if you like.

I actually removed the bones from the hair and head, leaving just those in the body - Blender wont import multiple psks with bones in them so I had to debone and convert to obj files.  I then just placed the meshes where they needed to go and fit them together.  I could join them all together into one big body/head mesh and weight everything but I'm not sure that would transfer to other models so easily.

I'm glad you did this because I always wanted to change the images for squadmates to match my mods (particularly Tali and EDI) but really wasn't sure how to proceed.  I could try and use the pose for those models as a test.  I'd at least have the starting point (screenshot) for photoshopping a final product.

If you need some help photoshopping let me know.  I was able to do Liara for my Liara Commando armor because Bioware's had an image for the armor in the right pose so I just stuck her head on (well a little more then that but you get the idea).  Anyway it came out great so I think I can do this with Ash as well.

Great!  I have the pose here saved now so it should be applicable to any body mesh with the same bones (pretty much all of them).  I've got to run for a bit but I'll test-drive the pose on one of my other models when I get back.

Great when you are ready send me a screen shot the higher-def the better and I will start working on the images.  Again I am glad you are somewhat back in the game, look forward to some more of your mods.

I doubt that to be honest.

What do you mean?  You doubt they are NOT renders or that they are?  The image he starts with above (the pose) doesn't have what I would call a rendered look.  It seems to me more "cartoony" than in-game renders.

So here is what we have so far, I did a quick mock up.  Looks very close the only real difference I can see is the position of the gun.  As her right arm is lower.  Besides that it is very close.

I am not going to way in on the render debate :)

This is driving me a little buggy.  I've been playing with settings in Blender to get the render image right but I haven't yet found the magic spot.  This is the best render so far but there are some pixel glitches.  Her face is obvious, with some distorted pixels there but you can also see some blotchy patches on her right shoulder armor plate and around her neck.  I'll play with settings more tomorrow to try and get rid of the issues, at least on the armor/body itself.

OK, nice.  I guess I wont worry so much about the super hi-res render then.  I have been tweaking the rifle position but don't have it yet at as similar an angle.

actually looks closer on your latest image.  Don't worry about the face as far as I am concerned as I can Photoshop it as you see.

Also her right foot is turned a little tiny bit but now I am getting picky ;P

PS it is her left arm on our right that is lower (I had said right).  Also I have to photo shop the head in a little lower on the neck as well.

I wont render her anymore and will just go with the screen capture of the working textured model since that seems to match the original fairly closely.  Nice work on the head.  Here's another screeny with the rifle position dropped yet again. Also tweaked her leg positions again.

That's it for me tonight.  I have to go to bed.  Let me know if the latest posted pic above is OK or if you want to have a few more adjustments and I'll take care of it tomorrow.
