Hey so I have a PS3 and have beaten ME2 once, but recently purchased ME1 and ME3, and am just starting ME1 now. Love it so far. I also own all of the novels and comics associated with the ME universe (except for Deception, due to its many errors and non-canon lore). I have't read all the comics yet, and have only played ME3 for the first few hours.

Since the last time I played ME3, a fairly significant amount of DLC has been released, as well as a new series of comics (Foundations). I was wondering whether I might spoil ME3's storyline by installing all the DLC right off the bat - like I didn't know if something from the Citadel DLC, for example, might be better left until completing the main storyline.

Also, do the Foundations comics, which feature characters from all games in the series, spoil events from either ME2 or ME3? It's been a long, long time since I beat ME2 and forget most of it so I don't want to spoil anything at all.

I am going to try and move through the series and the accompanying media in chronological order. Thanks.

As far as I know, Foundation doesnt have alot of spoilerage in it. It does actually show you full stories for other things you may have heard in game.

I heavily recommend reading Evolution and Invasion though for the sake of stuff making sense and having more of a clue in regards to ME3's Omega DLC.

Pretty much what Tsunayoshi said- read the ones that take place between ME2 and 3. It'll be more rewarding later on.

Also when you play the Omega DLC, it is best done immediately after a certain major plot event involving the Citadel relatively early in the game. You'll know it when you get there. Trust me, you'll thank me later - it is pretty much unanimously agreed to be the perfect place to play that DLC.

I do agree about Foundation, though - don't read those. They introduce a character who is introduced in the Citadel DLC and effectively ruin a major (although predictable) plot twist in the Citadel DLC.

I dont mind the Foundation comics that much. A little more characterization to a character that most people already saw the twist for isnt exactly a bad thing.

Oh I agree - but the OP apparently hasn't finished ME3 or the DLC (including Citadel). So that's why I recommended waiting to read Foundation until after.

True nuff.

The comic they put out for last years Free Comic Day is a must read too.

Lol just read it. Not sure I buy the Alliance basically rewarding Joker for that though.

I agree, but then again, they did have some say taken away from them in that matter.

Yeah, I liked the comic they released with Joker stealing the Normandy. I have a bunch of comics I haven't read, but I don't want to spoil anything at all. I am starting Mass Effect 1 now, and already read Revelation and Evolution. I have a list I put together of the chronology. Would it make sense to move through things in this order, or is it better to read/play/watch in the order they were released? Here's my list:

Evolution Comic Series

Mass Effect Revelation Novel

Foundation 1

Foundation 4

Foundation 10

Homeworlds 1

Homeworlds 2

Foundation 2

Foundation 3

MASS EFFECT

Mass Effect Galaxy iPhone Game

Incursion Comic

Mass Effect 2 Prologue

Redemption Comic Series

Mass Effect Ascension Novel

Mass Effect: Paragon Lost Movie (PSN)

MASS EFFECT 2

Lair of the Shadow Broker

ME2 - Arrival DLC

Mass Effect Retribution Novel

Mass Effect Inquisition Comic

Mass Effect: Conviction

Mass Effect: Invasion

Mass Effect INFILTRATOR

Homeworlds Series

MASS EFFECT 3

Foundation Series
