So adding a PVP will destroy everything both on the forums and in the new ME? A bit hyperbolish IMO

I've never played a COD game.
A friend convinced me of bying CoD Ghost recently and I just feel like throwing it in the garbage can. If I would play something like that I would play Battlefield instead but even then I usually get put off by how those games are played. Sometimes I wish that all the CoD players would sign up for military service and go fight a real war just to see how their CoD strategies works for them in real life.

Tbh, I don't really play CoD MP a whole hell of a lot anymore. If I even do, it's just against the bots. I mainly do the co-op (zombies and extinction), and the story (only for achievements really). I used to MP a lot but just got sick and tired of the same old tactics being used and nothing really being done to combat them. Anyway, having a PvP in ME would be a balancing nightmare. A good chunk of the powers would have to be cut for the sake of balancing, then it would be turned into just another PvP shooter.

It takes away development time and resources from what should be the focus - co-op.
This ^, and the fact that it will draw COD morons into ME.

I'm not sure how that would work out (PvP)....the balancing issues would be a nightmare in terms of powers, guns, health/shield balancing. It would be alot going on for the game to be an entertaining experience compared to a frustrating one. I think they should continue to focus their energy on improving their MP, which is quite honestly incredibly solid for their first outing. If they were to try to be the jack of all trades and spread out their resources with multiple modes, i think the quality will drop a bit and each version will not get the dedicated attention it deserves.
I'm also not a fan of "first person anything"...so i hope they don't consider turning this into a FPS, and even if there is an option to toggle between views, you are still using resources and codes to put that animation into action, which can be used on other features to improve the overall product. There are a ton of other FPS out there if you want your FPS fix, ME/MP started out as a 3rd person shooter and it should stay that way.

I think this is being overblown. The tone of Mass Effect games is completely different and has it's fanbase. Some of those fans also enjoy PvP. If BioWare was to include PvP it would be for those people. There would be new adopters to be sure, but the idea that hordes of CoD philistines would suddenly invade the ME playerbase is just not the case. Like I said in my initial post the same types of thing were said by tons of ME fans when co-op was announced for ME3 and the game and playerbase survived just fine.

Indeed, not to mention that co-op would take focus away from the story mode (which it did, for the wrong reasons).

How many players like to use sniper rifles & head shots? There's the end of PvP right there. You'd never be able to leave cover. Wouldn't even be able to take 2 steps. PvP would be about as much fun as having poison ivy all over your nuts.
All I will say is that I've played a lot of PvPs and it tends to turn people into douchebags.
Why blame the game? Once a douchebag always a douchebag!

I feel like the issues with the story (or more precisely the issues most people had with the story) were due to a lack of creative vision. Specifically the type of thing that happens when there are several people responsible for creating a narrative. You see the same thing happen in TV shows all the time. Lost was a great example: arcs are introduced, ground work is laid out and then for various reasons, mainly related to the fact that there is not one person responsible for the narrative, plot threads become dead ends and resolutions are simplified. For this reason I feel like the resolution of the ME3 series was doomed to be not as satisfying as the series as a whole MP or no MP. Just my 2 cents and not really MP related but I felt like indulging myself.

There's a real lack of thinking things through thoroughly in this thread. (But a lot of thhhh sounds!)
The coop game is balanced for 4 players versus about 1000000 enemies or so.
PvP would have to be balanced for 12 v 12 (say) and that's very different.
But the part I really don't get is why, if you want to play CoD in space, you don't just play CoD. Space wouldn't add much.

Hmmm
On ME3 PC it is hard to tell whether other people are really considerate, or if they just can't rage at you since there is no text chat.

Perhaps unfairly but I've always just assumed the later. No text chat and I almost never find someone with a mic. Though those few with mics I have run into have all been quite polite and pleasant to chat with. So who knows.

Ohh man.. I loled IRL XD
Should I feel bad that I'm 34 and still teabag people.. even in Mass Effect? I also gank in Dark Souls bc if you're invading mine or my friends world.. you are asking for it. There are no rules in Dark Souls. Hell, sometimes I'll spam the Dried Fingers with a friend while we're both black magic users and farm invaders with Dark Bead spam. F other people lol...
Effing up invaders isn't ganking, it's self defense. Ganking is bottomless boxing a full set of +10 Giants and a +15 Zwei and terrorizing newbies in Undead Burg. That's the kind of thing you can expect from any Mass Effect PvP.

Nah. Split damage. +15 and Gold Pine Resin.
Personally, I go with (female) Black Leather Pants and Gloves, Thief Mask and Painting Guardian Shirt. +15 Uchi/+5 Chaos Shotel and +15 Grass Crest Shield.
Fashion Souls FTW.

Pvp is filled with immature people and douchebags.
Clearly, you've never stepped foot into an unreal tournament, quake or shootmania server.
Sure, there are the odd idiots here and there, but most of the people you meet are actually top blokes.
Basing your idea of what PvP is using League of Legends and Call of Duty is not representative in any way shape or form of the PvP community present in other games.

When a group of people band together to exercise their perceived dominance over another individual or group in a gaming environment then when call them competitive players. When it's done in real life, it's called a hate group. ![]()
Regardless of which way to try to spin it, competitiveness appeals to our basic human nature to dominate a weaker foe. It really doesn't matter if you doing it on a individual basis are in a group (pack mentality). Once you accept that, then you won't be so defensive about the "poor reputation" of PvP players. The collective advancement of a society will always be viewed in higher regard.
