So adding a PVP will destroy everything both on the forums and in the new ME? A bit hyperbolish IMO

Look at Battlefield 3 and 4 and then Battlelog, trolls R US.
I've all but given up on the games and I've spent over £80 on BF4 premium...I'd rather play a game I got 2 years ago...lol.

I wouldn't call the Battlelog community trolls. Nerfers and whiners and generally salty butthurt people, sure, but trolls are actually pretty rare.

OT, if PvP is a seperate and OPTIONAL game mode then I would not have a problem with it.

I will be somewhat serious now.

I never played Gears MP.  Really I still find third person a bit clunky for a "shooter" but I suppose in a lot of ways it isn't a big deal.  Needs a bit better FOV though, I don't like having half the screen becoming a blindspot.

Team vs Team makes sense to me if you want to add some sort of pvp for a Mass Effect game.  Then again I never cared for "deathmatch" style MP.  That was part of why I liked the original Counter Strike way back in the day.  You can practically do the same thing with ME though.  C-Sec vs Blood Pack.  Or STG vs Eclipse.  Whatever.

So I guess I wouldn't care if there is a deathmatch mode, I just wouldn't be interested in playing it.  Team vs Team could be cool, as would real cooperative missions.  The latter seems like it would have made the most sense for a Mass Effect game, but we didn't get it.  I guess because it was the first attempt.

Mass Effect PvP:

Cast Stasis-BOOM HEADSHOT-Profit.
Cast Charge-Face, meet Reegar-Profit.
Charge Acolyte-Shoot enemy with barely any aim required-Run up and use biotic detonator on Annihilation Field kit-BOOM-Profit.

Then there's the stagger mechanic issues.. Cloak-Overload/Energy Drain-Claymore? It just doesn't sound like fun to play against. In one of the groups Ziegrief posted a funny video of Final Fantasy PvP with people using sleep and death spells.. it looked pretty damn lame.

It would take such an overhaul of the signature powers/weapons, and be such a balancing nightmare.. but I think it will exist because EA and bc they want to tap into the PvP audience to sell more games.

Eh that's sort of true.  Although you could reengineer most of the "stagger" or "disabling" powers to be projectile, so they are dodgeable,

You would probably end up with a cross between Spectre enemies from Armax, and a return to ME1 style tech attacks which are hitscan and have various properties that aren't stagger or ragdoll (weapon overheat, shield drop, damage taken).

Here's the Final Fantasy PvP vid. This is what I see ME PvP being.

Bioware arlready excels in voice acting and script/story writing [with the exception of ME 3's ending.] They are among the best at what they do. Trying something different could be a way of discovering what could possibly improve the MP experience aside from just bug fixing

The whole underlying concept of the game was flawed when they used the harvesting by synthetics to prevent the extinction of organics at the hands of synthetics but that's a discussion for a different time.

I just don't see a commitment to a quality co-op multiplayer if PVP is offered as well.

Awesome.

To be clear, PVP isn't something that ME4 would have to include for me to be interested in buying it.  I think it could work if they didn't make it lame like that video.  Still want missions of some sort though.

It takes away development time and resources from what should be the focus - co-op.

This. If they make it seperate, fine. But honestly if I wanted to play PvP, I would go play Halo or CoD.

The problem is not with competiton - though it would attract different type of people - but the powers are simply not suitable for PvP.

Eliminating the tracking of projectile powers but increasing the speed might balance the PvP. If you think in terms of comparison with the current bug infested ME 3 then you you'll fail to see any good possibilities in a PvP

The current game couldn't be PvP.  It would require complete re-balancing of weapons, powers, and maybe even game mechanics.  For example, things like stagger-lock powers and weapons, Stasis, Grenades, and Wallhax would become OP (or even more OP).  I would rather have the developers spend their time making the SP and the regular MP experiences better, rather than spending time and money trying to build a balanced PvP game, which may end up reducing the quality of the SP/MP games.

I don't want any ressource taken away from the development of a great co-op MP, and I'm afraid of the kind of people a PVP mode would attract to ME4, both in the game and in the forums. I'm not very enthusiastic about playing or talking with 14 years old immature teenagers who come only to show how they can destroy others players, like in COD.

Moreover, I'm wondering how you could implement a PVP mode in ME, given the powers there are (stasis + shoot in the head = a dead opponent). It would imply some counter measures (the capacity of blocking or dodging powers, maybe), so a totally different gameplay, which means a lot of work for the devs.

Obviously it's because only small children and racists play it. No way one of the most popular console games could have decent people on it.

Inorite.. just ask BSN. 100% douchebags, not a single decent human being has ever played CoD PvP.. and if one has he/she was instantly morphed into a 13 year old racist.

You would have to nerf so many things that game mode could barely even be called Mass Effect by the time you're done with it.

Otherwise it would just be completely broken.

Look, it all boils down to the fact that I don't play ME3MP for PvP and I'm sure many others feel the same way. I'd much rather play other games for that, but as Megabeast said, EA will probably implement it, broken or not, to attract the PvP crowd and make more money.

Also, a lot of my old friends (that I knew in person) played COD and they were pretty normal...
