The Inquisitor's Edition being sold at EB Games Australia apparently only contains the standard edition, according to the website.

 

And since there's no physical deluxe edition available for PC here, that would mean the only way for Australian players to access the deluxe edition content on PC would be to purchase digitally. Which is impossible for me, and likely tons of other Australian players, because we're generally subject to abysmal data caps and download speeds.

 

I hope there's been a mistake or that the deluxe edition content will otherwise be made available physically for PC players. As much as PC gamers in some circles insist that buying physical is dead, that is simply not reality for those of us in areas (or, better yet, entire countries) without the infrastructure. Especially with these newer AAA titles measuring up to 50 GiBs in size.

Yeah, I don't disagree that it's over-priced, but given how ludicrously expensive software is in Australia, it's about what I expected.

 

I buy almost all my games deeply discounted on Steam or out of bargain bins - the only PC games I've paid full price for in the past five years are the Dragon Age games, SWTOR and The Secret World. (I've paid more than cost for a couple of Kickstarters, but that's because I wanted to invest in getting the game to production in the first place.) For me, buying a physical copy of a game at full price is something I do maybe once a year, so on the rare occasions I do so I'm willing to pay well over the standard price.

 

I don't have a lot of boxes any more, but I still have the Baldur's Gate games in their original packaging, maps included, and they have a lot of sentimental value for me. I expect I'll feel the same way looking at my Dragon Age collector's editions in a decade. I can absolutely see why other people would be reluctant to fork out more than $200 on the basis of future sentiment, though .

 

I actually made a promise to myself no more collector's editions like this anymore after losing all my existing ones when a pipe bursting over the winter, for I lost fifteen years of a collection that I would never be able to replace.  For me the big loss was how when seeing those boxes it would remind me of the fun I had playing those games.

I actually spoke to a rep of EB Games today and a while ago regarding this and they say its because the Ditributor of Australia/NZ isn't offering the Deluxe Edition for PC... When I then said, "Well why the hell haven't EB Games demanded a PC Deluxe Edition?" his reply both times was - the Distributor is not offering a PC Deluxe Edition...My reply was basicly I guess EB Games doesn't want PC gamers money...to which he said , Im sorry you feel this way, we would ove to have the Deluxe Edition for PC but the Disributor is not offering it...

EA/Bioware I call on you to fix this issue... Why are Australian PC gamers constantly being refused the same Collectors/Premium editions as the Consoles...

Am I the only one very irritated by this Gamestop nonsense? It's like they don't want people to buy it. I'm not even talking about the price or the exclusivity.

 

I want to get this version of this game, and I'd be very happy to drop $170 on it... at my local Gamestop, two blocks away from my apartment, so I can pick the game up and play it on Oct. 7th. I'm happy ordering it from the website as well, provided I get a guarantee that it arrives on time (but I would infinitely prefer store pickup, because I feel it's safer overall if I'm worried about getting the game release day).

 

Usually, when I pre-order games online, from Amazon but also in the past from Gamestop, I've gotten them the day of release. I'd love if someone can correct me here, but from what I'm hearing, there is automatically a one to two week delay on shipping for this unless you pay a further $20 to expedite your order, on top of the standard shipping costs. That just seems completely unreasonable to me.

 

If you made a Venn diagram of the people who are willing to pay for this thing along with the people who absolutely want to play this game on Oct. 7th, you'd have Bioware's most devoted fans right in the overlap. An added fee for release day delivery on top of a prohibition on picking up the game at their local store is an abuse of their goodwill.

The problem I think is Gamestop and their child companies don't want to get stuck with this at their stores if the pre-ordered copies don't sell or aren't picked up. After Skyrim's release my local EBGames had a copy in store for over a year and the Ultimate Edition of Halo 3 they had several copies in the store for years until they just disappeared one night and both of those Collector's Editions were fully sold out shortly after being announced. This way the purchaser is being held responsible for they either have to cancel their pre-order or get stuck with the game and if they do return it, there is a better chance of someone buying it because it will be at their online store instead of a local store.

Sigh. My concerns may be moot, since it looks like the PC collector's edition may be sold out. Whenever I try to go to checkout, it says my item was removed based on location or availability.

 

I can appreciate that position, but I think a reasonable compromise would be to allow in-store pickup only if paid in full. Or, alternately, (for PC players at any rate) Gamestop could email you your Origin key with your receipt so you could get the game downloaded and installed while waiting for the box o' stuff.

No, you're not the only one. The GameStop in my town would take maybe 10 minutes to get to, yet I won't be able to play DAI on Oct. 7th because GameStop is saying it'll be 1 business day for processing or whatever then 1 business day for shipping. That's 2 days I'm sitting here like a chump AND gamestop is forcing me to pay $15 EXTRA to do it. Ridiculous.

I wasn't even aware GameStop operated outside of America until yesterday. Just ordered Collectors Edition for Xbox One. Hopefully they are reliable enough =/

 

I just get a bit suspicious about new shops - especially when they don't have an actual shop I can walk into. Not that i've seen, anyway. Around here it's just GAME and Grainger Games.

hold on a sec I look on the eb games websith and the c.e of dragon age I is on p.c  for $209 au/xbox1$229/ps4$229 but the c.e is not on ps3 or xbox 360

Look at all the pretties!   Seriously though....I would love to have this CE (for the cloth map and table pieces especially, if only for those things)...But I'm curious, the question of the hour is "how much does all this cost?  What's the price tag?"   Cause if it's some crazy amount like 200 dollars...I'll stick with my Deluxe Edition.

 

Can anyone (devs perhaps?) confirm the price tag?

I just answered my own question......And the amount I guessed is the exact amount it's selling for at ebgames.ca  200.00 dollars.  Beautiful set, it really is...but that's just rediculous.  I'll be quite happy to stick with my Deluxe Edition, art book and strategy guide.

Gamestop are touting it as an exclusive (unusual in the UK but there we go)... but why will it cost you anything to cancel a pre-order at Game?

Mine is 20 miles away and if I do next day delivery my payment is usually processed the day before the game comes out and is sent out the day before also. That way I always get the game on the day it comes out. They have never been late with delivering the game same day it comes out. I always take next day delivery. Are there any strategy guides for pre-order yet?

Has anyone called and verified this can not be picked up in store at GS? When I called about the Deluxe Edition saying the same thing a few weeks ago they said if I came in to pre order with a deposit I could pick it up at the store and that website wasn't reflecting accurately.

I forsee a delay in delivery and people that pre-ordered the game not receiving it for a week or two behind those that 1) digitally download and 2) went to the store on day 1 and purchased it.

 

the whine and uproar from that will eclipse ME3 ending.

 

... but I'm still pre-ordering this 'cause lockpicks and tarot cards and the chest (which I hope is lockable so that I can practice my lockpicking skill)
